-Well, basically, I removed a big portion of this conversation from the chapter discussion and made it into a new thread because it could get out of control there fast. Feel free to discuss anything related to Kenpachi, his powers, his intelligence and anything else that is possibly related to him here- Hakuteiken.
Since I can't insert an OP myself, I'll just repeat the initial argument, which is Kenpachi's intellectual capability. Discuss!

@M3J: Neither am I. Only reason I'm posting here as much as I do is because my Naruto is dead and gone, and the new series hasn't started yet. I'll be ghost the second that starts. Still, my memory hasn't gone to shit despite me being probably the oldest member in this damn discussion thread. I remember Kenpachi's origin story:
He was a kid who liked to fight.
He found a sword, imprinted onto it, and started killing more people, becoming proficient in swordsmanship because of it
He's an experienced fighter, but that's not the same as a classicaly trained fighter. It's like having Kimbo Slice try to fight Brock Lesnar. Kimbo fought on the streets and was thought to be unstoppable. He got in UFC and got picked apart like a child in his first couple matches because he didn't have any idea how to deal with an actual trained combatant. He wasn't brawling in the streets any more. He was fighting someone that knew what they were doing. Yeah, he was kept around, because he had the potential to be great once he got in some real training. But that was just acknowledgement that he wasn't there yet. Didn't matter how strong he was. He wasn't a threat to someone that knew what they were doing.
Whatever though. I don't even care anymore. I'm just concerned with an explanation as to why Gerard's losing it.
