Zeldris was trained by Napping reaper as a candidate to be next demon king. He was the Executioner of demon clan while estarossa was part of the 10 commandments from beginning. He later on became Demon kings representative after Mel betrays demons and during the end of holy war Demon king makes him the leader of the commandments (basically giving him the same role as meliodas). He got so many L's and could not show his actual strenght. He has no huge feats but from what manga has told: Meliodas had the most fun fighting him till he fought escanor, zeldris almost killed merlin while she was looking for arthur, one shotting Drole the giant king, he showed assualt mode mark once like meliodas. Basically he is just a NERFED version of Meliodas cause author wants mel in spotlight.

It was only the editor note and the " demon king " was singular, not plural. Meliodas is the only candidate of that throne, even now, the DK said it, in Zeldoris's face. That was his reputation. No one had that kind of reputation excepted him.

It feels more like a rant than anything. Yes he is weaker than Meliodas but how does it make him a nerfed version of him? Their abilities are very different.

What are you talking about? Zeldoris was here in the Holy War and yet, Ludoshel still calls Meliodas to be the only heir to the throne lol. Zeldoris is the equal of Estarossa and only him, as stated by his master. Meliodas is a different class, the DK is obsessed by him and him alone.
The DK want Meliodas because he is that special compared to the rest, he monitored him during million of years from Purgatory and already revealed that to Zeldoris. You are just in denial and downplaying Meliodas.

(What is his innate magic? does he possess his father nautral magic ability, but lacks the power?) What is the nature of his second mark. Which brother gave AM Mel a challenge.

Context couldn't be more clear on what the implication of what Meliodas meant by "fun". And the quote was actually "most fun I've had sincefighting my adorable little brother, & brethren". If language means anything, Meliodas might as well be saying to Escanor "I almost had as much fun fighting you as I did my brethren". Notice how I said 'almost' not 'more' because if Mel had meant he had more fun with Escanor than with his bros then he wouldn't have said "..since fighting..." but rather something like "this is even more fun than fighting with...." Big difference!
And if initially 114k Escanor was boring to Meliodas, then the brethren he was referring to were probably above 114k at the time Meliodas had fun fighting them.
Finally, the context of Meliodas growing stronger while regressing according to Merlin was more likely refering to present Meliodas (hadn't regained his senses yet) Vs the Meliodas that destroyed Fraudrin—the context had been discussed extensively (as was what Meliodas meant by "fun" with his bro) even by our dear translators in past threads, & that was the likely conclusion, so I won't go into it.

Finally Escanor (prior to ONE) gave Meliodas a little challenge (he was finally able to draw blood) thus earning the compliment of being fun to fight from Meliodas.
If Meliodas' bro were able to do the same (or more, since the word used was "...since fighting...") then they've fulfilled the requirement of giving Meliodas a challenge (no matter how small).
He say's most fun SINCE fighting them. That implies that he was just as fun/difficult as zeldris was. Also I read that what Merlin said wasn't in reference to his former self and closer that losing his emotion's is making him more evil and powerful then he was then when he had them.

Estarossa has memories of his non assault form from the past odds are he probably would’ve used that form to fight Zel because Assault Mode just seems like overkill with no effort required. But yeah there’s no logical way that Zeldris or Estarossa can gain an extra 40K+ (Excluding suicide indura) to match 11:00ish Escanor. That’s why Zel tried getting Estarossa to run away instead of trying to help. At most I’d say Zel is 74K max

Wait Mel said those words when Escanor beefed up more than when he destroyed Estarossa right. So Escanor was around 120k at that time because it was about 12nn more than 1130 am i suppose. So I think it would be safer to assume Zel or Estarossa was on that level so to speak.
