I know it's probably obvious but due to how it's presented...

-Zoro legitimately hates sanji doesn't he? He'd most likely give him the usopp treatment if he wasn't so vital to the crew (cooking).
What is the Usopp treatment? What happened in Water 7?

I think they don't get along but I don't think there's "hate" either.

Zoro deemed usopp untrustworth thus unfit to be a crewmember.

"Don't get along"... isn't that just dancing around "hate each other"?

It's glossed over, due to it mostly being shown through gags, but i think they truly do hate each other. Now that hate might not be, "scorch the earth and hunt down everyone they ever loved" type hate, but hate it be. :smoke

Well, in that sense, perhaps, but it's not like Sanji is only useful for the cooking. He's not the most realiable person in battle because of his... "traits", but he's strong. He's not as useful as he could be if he was a normal person, but he'll still take down strong opponents for the crew, so it's always better to have him on board than not.

I don't think there's any hate, just rivalry between the two, and how they dislike some traits of each other. Sanji doesn't like how Zoro gets lost and can be quite a brute, while Zoro doesn't like how Sanji's too obsessed with women, but they also want to prove superiority over the other. They do have immense respect for each other though and trust each other implicitly.

If Zoro did hate Sanji, then he'd have let Sanji sacrifice himself against Kuma instead of knocking him out.

I went back to zou to see zoro's reaction to sanji leaving and well...

He's not as useful as he could be if he was a normal person, but he'll still take down strong opponents for the crew, so it's always better to have him on board than not.

That sums up his opinion on sanji being onboard but it's a lot more cynical than that (i.e. he had zero interest in retrieving sanji and even neglected his role as vice captain by staying in zou.)

they also want to prove superiority over the other.

That "competition" is one-sided and rooted in sanji's inflated ego (like how he was butting heads with jinbe).

They do have immense respect for each other though and trust each other implicitly.

I'd say zoro respects sanji's role in the crew- he would have to given his opinion of sanji. As for sanji...

When has he ever shown respect for zoro?

If Zoro did hate Sanji, then he'd have let Sanji sacrifice himself against Kuma instead of knocking him out.

The kuma thing was disrespectful on sanji's part and again showed his ego- he refused to let zoro make that sacrifice, putting himself on the line, despite being in no shape to do so.

As far as trust goes-

zoro has never been put into a position where he HAD to trust sanji. You wouldn't say he trusted nami, when it was him and her vs baroque in alabasta. His hands were full and he left nami to her own devices (much like he does with sanji). Zoro has a "sink or swim" type of mentality. Has zoro ever been shown extending himself to cover for someone else's incompetency? So even if he didn't trush sanji, to accomplish something, he's the type to let him fail trying (especially if his hands are full).

The few times that we do see him having to trust sanji are:

when sanji was on the sea train solo and he told him to say put; not trusting him (zoro and luffy both agreed they'd fight regardless)
the kuma incident, where zoro knocked sanji out; due to not trusting him

They do hate each other. Their indifferences has only gotten worst as the series went on. Their rivalry started similar to the Giants of finding out who caught the bigger dinosaur. They have moments where they respect each other a bit, like during the Foxxy Pirates encounter, Thriller Bark incident, or even for the brief moment in Wano.

They know they can rely on each other because they are both capable, but no they really don’t like each other. & the insults and name calling has gotten worst and worst. They also never call each other by their name, it’s always an insult.

Personally, I think Zoro takes jabs & digs a lot less towards Sanji, or they are more casual; While Sanji may be a bit more sensitive and just unloads with the insults or really try’s to annoy Zoro more often than not, just cause.

Either way never seen a fan base actually take on the characters disdain for each other so much

Actually it's the other way around. Zoro has never called Sanji by his name, while Sanji has called Zoro by his name a few times.

A real life phenomenon. Honestly

They’re never gonna call each other’s real name anymore. If it does even happen casually.

Until Sanji looks “cool” again I think Zoro fans are just gonna find the rivalry annoying. It’s not even anymore, so the jabs look like somebody biting off more than they can chew

I don't recall Zoro ever interacting with Jinbe.

Maybe not interacting directly, but i kind of remember zoro have a little smile when he see Jinbei grand entrance suddenly attacking the beast pirates ship when they about to go to onigashima, and when they attack the gate of onigashima zoro wanted to celebrate jinbei joining the crew, although that could be because he just wanted to drink alcohol.. Lol

Yes, and they trust each other to do what they have to despite the rivalry. I'm surprised this is even questioned.

Pretty sure Sanji and Zoro are always going to be rival and it's stupid to say they 'aren't' because Sanji refuse to hit women when Zoro has never harm women in any capacity on same scale as a male either. Both have chivalry on not harming women much which interestingly enough is due to their past of women in their lives to make that.

I don't get where thinking it's 'one-sided' as didn't Zoro try to childish get involve in talk with Luffy praising Sanji's power? It goes both ways with these two and both want to be better than other and will never stop competing who is stronger. We see this even in Wano on their interaction from them at saving Toko, Zoro getting made at Sanji having higher bounty, competing again during war, etc.. Oda likes rivalry and keeps it going out of it. It isn't 'gag' and is serious at times as they would really fight each other with all their might.

I think Zoro calls Sanji one time and Sanji did the same before they start going with names as their rivalry started. Though that doesn't mean they don't respect one another nor it means neither can be helpful to the crew being like this as in fact actually make them want to do better when fighting around if you look at it.

The mishandling of zoro during wano is crazy.

Fights in general have been the low point of the arc but-

When zoro finally gets a bone, one of his only notable moments in post, oda f***ing backhands him.

Man nearly gives kaido the worst lick of his life and the talk of the town is the sword he's using. This isn't just the fans either but the characters themselves.

Luffy gasping, pushing his body to the absolute limit, to hurt kaido for like 30 seconds; results in him doing no real damage and defenseless. Bm/Kaido: "look at him, utterly defenseless. Gave his all and did little to no damage to us. This man is a f***ing legend! " :gwah

Zoro, casually slicing and dicing kaido. Bm/Kaido: "sword go burrr" :feelsgoodman

He's possibly walking out of this arc nerfed. Zoro has been coasting for all of timeskip and now all of a sudden the height of his power is this sword. Which bro isn't even getting credit for, it's just an extension of oden at this point.

Well probably make sense given the fact he doesn't have Haki on level of Luffy who is hurting him more his own power, so probably using sword as only means to try to hurt them. Though even so I don't see Zoro beating Big Mom and Kaido as if he just doing support work this arc, then hard to range how he does by himself in a fight than in team fight.

Nah, you are just impatient. Wano is glorious, the best arc ever. Perhaps because it is Zoro's arc which will make him known as Yonko slayer.

Nah, this wasn't arc about Zoro at all. He will have shine, not he isn't beating none of the Yonkos especially recent talk in the chapter. Luffy vs Kaido is too much set for him.

Dread it, run from it, destiny still arrives.
You cannot escape from Zoro killing Kaido.
However, entertain me by trying. :cheez

zoro perfomed better than luffy though. When luffy fought kaido for the first time, he couldn't hit through kaido's scale and was frowned upon by kaido.
When zoro fought kaido for the first time, kaido praised his attack and he even cut through kaido's scale. :true
