Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

i thought at first that kumas gonna betray the goverment, but he wont do it openly, hell do it behind the back of the goverment, like a real pirate. o ya just thought about that, u kno wat would be really cool. well like we all kno kuma is the pet of the goverment so maybe hes just doing that to get some information from the goverment and then he delivers that information to the revolutionnaries, aka dragon. that would explain a lot of things. and fuck the shamans, i dont want any shamans in one piece, thatd be lame.
:o no it would be cool. but i think that kuma may be putting all his faith in the strawhats for some reason. maybe kumas a slave.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

It would be a shaman devil fruit given the powers he's shown. That said, don't know why you would rule out Shaman's in One Piece when we already have stuff like mantra, haki, mermaids, giants, weapons eating devil fruits and just about everything else mythological I can think of.

But yeah, Shaman Shaman fruit is my bet.

On Kuma: impossible to predict with evidence. Some say he's gonna betray them for Dragon just because he likes talking to himself. Some say he is working for Garp. Some say Vegapunk is more neutral and he's working for him.

So now that I've seen everyone's thoughts, I'm going with the ORIGINAL IDEA that Kuma just may be working for himself. *gasps* You'd be surprised how little this is actually suggested. Of course, if a person does something strange they must be working for someone, but this is Kuma's second deviation. I think he's a planner personally and I also think he would rather see the world remain balanced.

Time shall tell, but if Kuma goes something like "I did all of this because I have a hard-on debt to __________" I think I'll spazz out a little.

OMG BITTMAN YOUR A GENIUS THAT WAS OBVIOUSLY THE BIG MYSTERY OF KUMA *cough* *cough*, no actually all sarcasm aside it is a perfectly valid theory, but i think he'd have to have a pretty epically cool reason for doing so...... it would be a bit boring atm........maybe he's working for Davdan (or whatever the town mayor of luffy's hometown said) *shrug*....maybe he was just malfunctioning LOL!

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

You're having way too much fun with random ideas I come up with in the space of 20 seconds.

I should make a thread: "Imitorar versus you" / "Come have your wild theories blown away"

Actually, that would be a pretty good thread...
I was actually hoping that it would lead to us getting into a massive argument over something clearly ridiculous by posting more and more misinterpreted evidence and half-baked theories and forced conclusions. In short, I was trying to lead to a humongous parody of this forum. And besides, it's not like I'm ALWAYS right, even when I have essay-like posts and (seemingly) sound reasoning to back me up. I was extremely wrong about the Cross-Gear and Doflamingo owning the slave auction at Grove 1.

But back on topic, I like that theory about Kuma being in it for himself. I see both Kuma being in it for himself and Kuma being connected to Dragons as viable possibilities (even Sahugani, who I believe started the theory, could never really convince me that Kuma and Vegapunk were connected. We just don't know enough about Vegapunk yet to assume much of anything about his personality or motivations), but I also lean away from assuming that Kuma's connected with Dragon. I mean, it's not like they wouldn't have met. Kuma's a Shichibukai, and the only really obedient one. Dragon's the most wanted man in the world. Who exactly is the World Government gonna send after him, Captain Morgan? I'm willing to bet that all of the Shichibukai (except for Blackbeard, but possibly including Crocodile, though he was stripped of the title) and admirals have met and fought with Dragon at one time or another. And Kuma's muttering says nothing except that he knows Dragon a bit. Anything about a connection is conjecture as of now.

But I disagree with you that Kuma is focused on preserving the balance of the Three Great Powers. You assume that based off of his conversation with Moria, right? Well, it seems to make sense, and could very well be his true agenda, but while the theory makes sense, I'm not fond of it. Kuma seems to be focused on working on promoting the World Government, not the Three Great Powers, though then again, the thrust of your argument is that Kuma is only with the World Government to enforce the Balance of the Three Great Powers. So his focus on the World Government could be explained according to your theory. But I prefer the idea that Kuma's actions can be explained by his fixation on loyalty.

My personal belief about Kuma's motivation is that he's rather interested by the Straw Hats. I think he didn't kill them on Thriller Bark because he was rather impressed with the rookies, so he gave them a chance to survive by turning in Luffy. Then they didn't, so he figured he'd incapacitate them and capture Luffy, but let the rest of them live as a reward for their loyalty. But then Zoro stopped him and was willing to give his life for Luffy. I think that that dedication impressed Kuma, the same way that Zoro's potential as a swordsman impressed Mihawk, so he agreed to spare Luffy on condition that Zoro was willing to pay the price. And I think that he came to save them on the Sabaody Islands also because he's interested in Zoro and his dedication to his captain. That's why he went after Zoro first. Loyalty clearly means something to a man who almost unwaveringly obeys the World Government, a man once known as "the Tyrant" who now allows himself to be ruled. I don't know why Kuma places such value on loyalty, it will probably be revealed if/when the Straw Hats meet him again, or when Kuma and his agenda becomes an issue and his past will probably be revealed. But I think that Kuma's actions are governed by a personal interest, which is what makes them so striking: he's a man who is known for submerging his personal interests for the sake of the World Government's interests. That's a large part of what loyalty is.

I certainly don't like the Dragon theory. I mean, having characters secretly working for each other and being connected is a very common plot device, and I wouldn't wanna see Oda use it too much. Besides, he's been pretty good about being able to establish and handle multiple factions and plotlines and agendas, and I don't see why he couldn't have Kuma working for his own interests. Besides, Kuma's not the only one to compare Luffy to his forbears. Aokiji also mentioned that he was a lot like Garp. But I doubt Aokiji has any relationship with Garp other then the fact that both are prestigious Marines, so they would know each other. But this last bit is mostly personal preference coloring my thinking. As it is, I think that bittman and I have formed our respective theories by focusing on different aspects of Kuma, me on his loyalty, and bittman on his concern with the Three Great Powers, as expressed in his conversation with Moria. I think both make sense, and only time will tell if either of our theories are correct. Or it could be something else. Maybe Kuma really is connected to Dragon, Oda could do nearly anything with Kuma's actions right now.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

To Imitorar: I also support your theory about Kuma. The reason for Kuma's action is his personal interest and impression on the SH. Well, just like Aokiji. They knew the true character of the SH which is not really evil and they let them live to observe them like how will they grow and how will they affect the world.

I don't think Kuma being Dragon's spy. That's somehow odd. But Dragon is a revolutionist whose action is freeing the country/island from WG while Kuma is a shichibukai who catched other pirates on WG's order. Dragon is not a pirate. I think WG would rather send the CP# or Marines than some Shichibukai. For the mysterious link between Kuma and Dragon, in my opinion, Kuma used to duel with Dragon and somehow impressed his character. Just like Mihawk and Shank. We can't say that Mihawk is in cahoot with Shank. Remember they are pirate and they can do what they like without any border. Not to mention, Kuma and Garp are on a good relationship.

Garp said he didn't believe a word from Kuma.
I can't say that some people are on a good relationship if they don't trust each other.

Garp said he didn't believe a word from Kuma.

Is that Garp said? I thought it's Sengoku who said that. Well, if that's Garp who said, it was so obviously he should said that he didn't believe that Kuma had eliminated his grandson. He love his grandson more than Kuma afterall :p

Also, I though a lot about the reason Kuma send Luffy to Kuja. Is it really to let Luffy meet Boa who is also the same shichibukai status like him? Kuma, you should change job as a matchmaker XD (The fact you sent Zoro to Perona and Sanji to the place-you-know-where apply more for this) Probably because Kuma hopes Luffy could learn something about Haki and Kuma knows that if it's Luffy, he won't be affect by Boa's power. Also, if it's possible he could be friend with Boa and learn about Ace's situation and go to save Ace. If that's what Kuma really thought, they he somehow really made a good plan for Luffy's future. Wow, I'm start to think Kuma as Oda already. I also start to think Kuma replacing Dragon as father's role for Luffy.

Wall of text, oh wait it's just Imitorar:

No-one is always right, but if you wanted it I could keep throwing you insane theories to parody the forums. Don't worry, no-one is always right, not even Oda.

But back on topic, I like that theory about Kuma being in it for himself. I see both Kuma being in it for himself and Kuma being connected to Dragons as viable possibilities (even Sahugani, who I believe started the theory, could never really convince me that Kuma and Vegapunk were connected. And Kuma's muttering says nothing except that he knows Dragon a bit. Anything about a connection is conjecture as of now.
For another fitting analogy: It's like saying Smoker is Aokoji's brother because Aokoji somehow had a message from Smoker. Their relationship and the message still remains a mystery, so off so little evidence saying something like "Oh well obviously they've known each other for decades and thus must be related" is about as wild as guessing that Kuma works for Dragon or Vegapunk.

But I disagree with you that Kuma is focused on preserving the balance of the Three Great Powers. You assume that based off of his conversation with Moria, right? Well, it seems to make sense, and could very well be his true agenda, but while the theory makes sense, I'm not fond of it. Yeah I know what you mean, but I though a loyal Kuma seems to fit, I've begun to romanticise (not really) about a planning Kuma who likes to give off impressions that he is both loyal and a tyrant, yet goes by his own agenda. His ascension into Shichibukai was nothing more than a step to ensure he could be where things were happening and he could keep an eye upon. And to this note, I do think he wants some balance. Kuma may quite possibly see the Whitebeard versus WG war as inevitable, and thus if Whitebeard's hole was to be replaced, a new successor to the Yonkou power would need to come from amongst the pirates.

Enter: Monkey D. Luffy. I can't help but feel Kuma was impressed by Luffy and crew at Thriller Park and, like many before, can see how Luffy will rise through the ranks quickly. Many that have noted this and are quite happy with the current balance (e.g. Aokoji, Vivi, Rayleigh/Shakkie, etc) have all been happy to let the Strawhat's go on their merry way. Of course, I don't think Kuma expects Luffy to jump into the Yonkou position straight away, but the balance isn't going anywhere tomorrow.

I certainly don't like the Dragon theory. I mean, having characters secretly working for each other and being connected is a very common plot device, and I wouldn't wanna see Oda use it too much. My opinion is between the two where Kuma does know Dragon a little more than most, but does not particularly ally himself with the criminal.

EDIT: @ JinxJen: I like the Kuma = Oda comparison. I've had that feeling myself also, Kuma seems to be a better plot tool than most.

Kuma is a "PACIFISTA".
you guys should reread Romance Dawn if you want to know Kuma's personnality.

Smoker probably wanted to say thanks to Luffy.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

you know the diffrence between Pacifista, i.e. the robots/cyborgs made by dr.vegapunk as ultimate weapon and the non-canon version of romance dawn which included a distinction between peace main and morgania pirates.
other than that I have no idea how you could have connected Kuma to RD ?

Hey I don't want to spoil anyone's mood here, but Romance Dawn was over 10 years ago. I mean, you think Oda looks back at Romance Dawn and the first 20 chapters of One Piece and says to himself:
"That was some of my best work. Everything I do nowadays pales in comparison" ?

Sometimes I don't get why people go "Well in Romance Dawn...." It's like saying Alvida was one of the better villains.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

I dont see why kuma would want to act on his own. well ok thats the most obvious thing youd think when it comes too kuma, but like why would he act on his own? ok he was called a tyrant and maybe hes a shichibukai cause he can go around the world and fight with all the pirates he wants, he probably decided to let vegapunk tune him up into a pacifista to get stronger, but why would he be the dog of the marine then? hes obviously not brainwashed cause we saw that in thriller bark he could act on his own will, like why wouldnt he join the marine instead of just becoming a shichibukai, aa nvm thats stupid, he obvioulsly cant join if he was a pirate. anyway i just cant see his purpose, and its true i didnt read the romance dawn like you guys were talking about, and neither of those databooks, but i just cant believe that kuma acts on his own, well hed have to have a good reason for it tho. and its true imitorar, it would kind of ruin the story if kuma would be a spy, we never saw that kind of character in one piece. oo btw the last chapter was sick, definately better than the last one, just gotta love sengoku and garp.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

I believe Tenryken is confusing pacifista with peacemain. Pacifista work towards peace as defined by the marine HQ and gorosei(meaning destroy anything in the way of the world government) while peacemain pirates fight for what they think is right.

Of the shichibukai, two(jinbei, hancock) accepted this title to protect their island, four(BB,crocodile, doflamingo, moria) to become stronger so that they can challenge stronger enemies, and the remaining two(mihawk and kuma) are still mysteries. Strangely both had the opportunity to destroy the SH and both let them go because they were impressed by them. Despite being extremely strong, both accepted to become shichibukai knowing that most pirates consider shichibukai to be scum so I think their motive for accepting this title will be very important and might be related to one piece.

I think they were impressed by Zoro, the rest of the crew didn't do much when they first met(it goes for Mihawk and Kuma).

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

im sorry but blackbeard obviously didnt join the shichibukai rank just to get stronger and fight stronger ennemies. blackbeard is smart, really smart. the only reason why he joined the shichibukai is to get protection. blackbeard has one goal in life and its to become pirate king, and he planed all his life to reach his goal. people say blackbeard is an antagonist and is like a bad guy, but in my mind hes exactly like luffy, just working for his dream. i love blackbeard, i dont see him as a bad guy at all. ok he killed the one of his commandant, he caught ace, but that was all part of his plan. and wat else did he do wrong that would consider him a bad guy? nothing. the war happens because of one of his choice, and im sure he considered that a war was going to happen if he took ace. and the only reason why he took ace is because he was in his way. his first goal to get shichibukai was to catch luffy because of his recent bounty but ace was in his way so he decided to take him instead. like after the arc wiht belamy, the island right before skypeia, sorry too lazy to go check the name, never in my life would i have thought blackbeard was a bad guy, i even considered him in joining luffys crew. blackbeard is exactly like luffy, except blackbeard will do everything he can to obtain his goal and hes more mature, he understands the sea, luffy will do everything he can to obtain his goal too but will never hurt his friend or harmless people. and blackbeard is a mastermind. hes the shit.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Just to add to what you said camil, BB's pirate life has always been to achieve the next Stage......

Now what I'm curious about is I wonder if BB predicted this war.......now he obviously hadn't intended it to start as soon as it did obviously, because he wanted to catch Luffy BUT maybe he knew that Ace was coming to get him anyway, I mean he was in WB's for bloody ages I'm sure he knew how WB was going to react, so I wonder if his plan was to capture luffy, kill Ace, become a Shichibuki and then upon WB hearing of BB promotion this would have spiked a war..... He knows that WB is his biggest threat (or Luffy) and he knew he needed the marines and the schichi's to take him out.......

No doubt in my mind that at the end will be Shanks, Mihawk, BB and the SH......

BB will be the greatest and probably the last fight of Luffy in OP, i mean they're basically the same in every way, they pretty much started the journey around the same time, had very similar crew styles, and there have been various overlaps between the too crews, I mean Ace being one, but also the Drum Kingdom, both changed that place for the better, and finally obviously the Will of D, Shanks knows it BB will be the only person to ever match Luffy, I'm sure BB will be to Luffy as WB was to Gol.D

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

ya thats true i forgot about drum island. but i dont kno about the wb and gold thing. i always thought that it would be shanks. like it would end the manga perfectly. luffy told shanks that he would surpass his crew and it would be perfect in my mind that right before entering the passage to raftel, wich i say it opens every like 25 years or so, shanks tells luffy if you want to be pirate king youll have to surpass me and my crew, and theyll fight and luffy and his crew will win and everything ends perfectly. cause in my opinion luffys dream will be the last one obtained, of all the crew i mean. well except for people like franky robin nami sanji and shit like that. but like it would be perfect that luffy and shanks meet right before raftel and mihawk is there with shanks, zoro fights him and then luffy proves that his crew surpasses shanks and luffy becomes pirate king. that would be the most logic ending in my opinion. but we all kno that the turn of events might change that, like its impossible almost to predict that far.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

So you think that Kuma's trying to keep the Three Great Powers balanced and that he's grooming Luffy to fill Whitebeard's shoes in case the war results in the defeat of Whitebeard? That WOULD be quite a twist. And it seems like it could happen based on what we know as of now. Oda being Oda, that is a very distinct possibility. I'll admit, a large part of what sways me in favor of this theory is the sheer brilliance of it. It's so clever to have Kuma grooming Luffy as a future Yonko that it almost makes me want Oda to do it.

The only thing on Dragon (though we both agree against it) that bugs me is that Kuma knows Dragon and Luffy are related. Luffy and Garp don't particularly hide that Ace and Dragon are part of the family, and though most of Garp's crew heard of it Kuma knowing it is something else again. At best I can put it down to Kuma overhearing it, at worst I can put it down to Kuma knowing Dragon personally. My opinion is between the two where Kuma does know Dragon a little more than most, but does not particularly ally himself with the criminal.
Well, I'd guess that in the upper echelons of the World Government, Garp's relationship to Dragon is common knowledge, and everybody who knows Garp's full name and Luffy's full name knows their relationship. I mean, Garp's crew may not have known that he was Dragon's father, but Sengoku certainly seems to. So I wouldn't be surprised if the Shichibukai did to. It's the sort of information you get access to when you attain such high standing. But yeah, I agree that the knowledge can be explained without having to resort to saying that Kuma is working for or with Dragon.
