^I concur. I'm quite glad to see to Kuroko near the top. 7-8 chapters ago was right when the game gets going and I have enjoyed the current game. Also glad to see Mago continually doing well (more color WSJ, hint, hint :p). Nothing I read, except Kagijin, seems to be in trouble, so all in all a good week.

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.3

Ooh i love me some inudash colour pages!
1 One Piece
2 Naruto
3 Reborn
4 Bleach
5 Kuroko
6 Mago
7 Sket Dance
8 Gintama
9 ToLoveRu (The End)
10 Bakuman
11 Kagijin
12 Psyren
13 Akaboshi
14 Medaka Box

arguable if love trouble is ranked for this finale (signs point to no cause of the contract breach ending) but i think the important thing here is that some fools managed to get kuroko up to the top 5

I think I'm more interested in the one-shot than anything else.
Any info about it? (sorry. I didn't even know the Golden Future Cup was this week) I hope it comes out soon.

Sad to see Medaka and Psyren at the bottom.
Akaboshi is a sinking ship :)

This is the last of five One-Shots of this Golden Cup. And none of them have a raw.

Kuroko is strangely high. And Toriko steals a cover!

I have a question: which of the new series are getting its first rank? Ane Doki or Kagijin? Because we have 8 chapters of AneDoki this week, but there are 9 Issues (because of the double)

Final ToC by Himajin of 2ch :p

2009-40

Beelze (Lead CP)
One Piece
Naruto
Reborn
Bleach
Kuroko
Inumaru (CP)
Golden Future 1-shot (CP)
Mago
Sket Dance
Wajimania
Ane-Doki
Gintama
Kochi-Kame
ToLoveRu (The End)
Toriko (Cover)
Bakuman
Hetappi Manga
Kagijin
Psyren
Akaboshi
Medaka Box
Jaguar
Toriko gets a cover eh?

Looks like Reborn really has bounced back since the choice battle started.

I like Mago's and Sket's positions. Ane-Doki has a good position for an early ranking. Although I'm surprised Wajimania was placed higher after it was placed in the bottom 5 more than once.

I'll be happy to see Psyren rise again and Medaka needs to shape up if it wants to live.

Kuroko can go back to the bottom and die for all I care, what the hell is it doing above Mago and Sket?
Ugh, I know how you feel. If this becomes another Bleach-like situation I'll be upset.

Yeah, I'd say it clearly isn't ranked this time around.

They just had to revive Kuroko when it was on the road to death finally.

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.3

I sort of wish I knew who was the one who finally rebelled, Hasemi or Yabuki, in regards to To-Love's "non-ending". At least it got high enough respect to get a non-bottom ending, but it just feels so bizarre to have it end...like this.

Other than that, good week for Kuroko...and another bizarre situation where a series which gets the lead color (Beezle) is passed over for a more popular series for the cover (Toriko). Gintama could be higher though.

Looks like Bakuman dropped to bottom 5, too, but we don't have to worry about Bakuman too much because it is doing very well on tank sells.

Kuroko returned to top 5 after long weeks staying in bottom 5. I think that just Seihou arc was done very poorly, and Shuutoku arc is good. I hope that the author put more focus on other rival characters, not just Generation of Miracles.

Also, a rumor about Hasemi's contract problem, there has been lots of other rumors about it. For example, Yabuki's ex-wife wants interest from To Love-Ru's gaining, so Yabuki finished To Love-Ru to solve problem, and there are other rumor that Hasemi faced his limit, so he couldn't continue anymore. So, there are lots of rumor about To Love-Ru's ending.

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.3

Kuroko's up above Mago...O_o

And why is Wajima up so high? I mean its not ranked yet so the editors need to make up their mind where they want it till then. And this is Ane Doki's first official ranking right? Not a bad start at all.

Don't care much for Kuroko and Reborn being inthe top 5 but whatever. My problem is Bakuman :darn o well it will probably bounce back up next like it always does.

I think it's just a fluke, Kuroko probably drop down again next week. Jump should start promoting Mago instead of trying to save that fucktastic Kuroko. Toriko had it's turn and is very popular, now it's Mago's time. Promoting those two series would make more revenue for Shueisha than trying to save that goddamn awful series.

Jump is probably just trying to pimp it like in the past. If they get another sports series in and it does alright, Kuroko will probably die very quickly :p

Ane Doke's first rank was last week, Kagijin this week. Waji will get next issue. Don't ever expect Ane Doki in the top five, fanservice and romance never chart high. Kind of crappy TOC; Naruto and OP are the only series I read in the top 5, Kuroko did well, Reborn did well, Medaka and Psyren in the bottom five. Other then Mago and Sket doing well this is a pretty lame TOC.

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.3

Hasemi was an assistant for Black Cat.
Hasemi was a one of the script writer for the Black Cat animation... ;)

I'm quite surprised that one anonymous statement at 2ch made a bigger deal here than it was at 2ch... (given that everyone pretty much ignored it there :p)

Hasemi didn't have a breach of contract, since there is no contract to breach... While it is basic courtesy for an author to work for the same publisher, there are no laws or contracts that actually stipulates an author to not working on anything else. Especially when that statement is referring to script/story for a game...

(Muwlove only quoted the first half, here's the whole thing:)

Please tell me what kind of publisher punishes an author for taking a job in another almost unrelated field?

There are plenty of authors working for different publishers at the same time... not to mention several novel writers also help with scripts/story for manga.

The common consesus in the TLR threads is that, Yabuki had to quit because he can't be a full time mangaka for a weekly series and taking care of his little girl (she's three) at the same time (now that he has full custody).

Ataru was asking about how much TLR was Hasemi, Yabuki, and the editors... Well, according to the Manga Brain (a special section dedicated to interviews with a mangaka in WSJ), Yabuki usually discusses the story with Hasemi over the phone on Wednesdays, then spends half a day doing the preliminary draft on Fridays... Have another in-depth discussion with both the editor and Hasemi in the afternoon, and finish up the final product on Tuesday morning (Tuesday afternoon is his free time).

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.3

So basically it was Yabuki's series with Hasemi "giving ideas". So then, suddenly it just doesn't even feel like a collaboration. When I think of a collab, I think of Buronson being brought in to adjust and develop "Fist of the North Star" I guess. (or how great Makura and Okano worked together on Nube)

The discussion about Kuroko was severely off topic and degenerated into a flame war. All posts both appropriate and innapropriate have been deleted.

I have a question. I know that Medaka and Akaboshi are on the edge of cancellation, and I think Wajimania going to be axed on next round of cancellation. If Kagijin went even lower than Medaka and Akaboshi, then are the editors going to cancel Kagijin before Medaka and Akaboshi, or are they just axed Medaka and Akaboshi first?

I highly doubt they will cancel Kagijin before Akaboshi. Whether it gets canned in place of Medaka is a toss up. Depends on how well it ranks compared to it in the next few weeks.

If it goes lower than them for quite a time, I think yes they will canceled it before Akaboshi or Medaka

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.3

If both Kagijin and Medaka are in the bottom five Kagijin will probably end first for the same reason Sket Dance outlasted Hitomi no Catoblepas and le Visiteur. All three were consistantly in the bottom five but Hitomi and le Visiteur were just more action with no potential to attract a new audience. Besides, Kagijin debuted in the bottom five, Medaka did not. Essentially, readers have already said they don't care about the series. Kagijin will probably not rise out of the bottom five; the only series I've seen debut in the bottom five and survive is: Sket Dance. Worth noting: Sket was frequently below le Visiteur, yet one has lasted two years the other 19 chapters.

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.3

Sket was a unique series though, and considering that Jump probably doesn't want to be seen as a one-dimensional shonen magazine and wants to have more variety akin to Sunday or Magazine, they allow for series like those to grow. Besides, that could also explain why series that don't start out pure action but do so later also seem to last a while aside from popularity (remember: neither Bleach or Reborn were pure action back in the first year)
