My name is Emily (a.k.a "Muffins", "Queenie" or "The Muffinator"), and I'm 19. I was born and raised in Australia, land of the deadly koala! \o/

I've just been made the new mod of the general section. Kinda nervous but I'll try not to disappoint! <3

My Japanese 'history' is a bit of a long story....When I started high school, I had to do either Japanese or Indonesian for 2 years. Since I'd always been interested in Japan and my teacher who liked Bali had tried (and majorly failed) to teach us Indonesian in year 6, I chose Japanese because I figured 'Hey, it can't be that hard, right? Gotta be easier than Indo...'
I soon learnt how wrong I was. >.<
But I stuck with it for 3 years, and I ended up really enjoying myself. (Well, when I wasn't being driven crazy by the particles...) I managed to pick it up pretty easily.
I'm horrible at things like math but I'm pretty good with languages. ^^
It was around that time I started reading manga, and I soon discovered the godsend that is scanalated manga... (where I live, the nearest store that sells manga is roughly 90 kilometers away... and 1 book is about $19.) Scanalated manga saved my poor wallet.
Then I had to drop Japanese in year 10 to do forensic science, and I ended up exchanging to Osaka for six weeks in Dec 2006 - Jan 2007 with the Lion's Club. I loved it so much I decided to come back! ~~/o/
So, I returned to Aus and picked up Year 10 Jap halfway through Year 11. During Year 11 I worked my ass off at 5 different jobs to earn enough money to go back to Japan. Finally, I had enough money to travel in 2008. I went away to Japan instead of doing VCE (Year 12).
I spent my first month in Tokyo, then traveled to Aichi-ken, where I attended a school called "Kakujyogaoka" in Nishio. (It took me about 3 tries to pronounce the school name right! ) I also managed to go back and visit my friends in Osaka and sight-see around Kyoto and Tokyo.
I <3 Akihabara.
In about September I joined Mangashare forums, and after two of my friends discovered I could speak Japanese they *cough*forced*cough*...er...asked me to translate for their group J.A.C.
I took some convincing because I was sure my Japanese ability was nowhere near good enough for it, but they didn't take no for an answer!
And I'm glad they didn't. It's all thanks to them I discovered I could translate (albeit using an online dictionary every five seconds) and I'm glad I've been able to give back to the community which gave me so much.
So thank you Mike & Ivory. <3
And that's pretty much it~
Anyway, I've been talking for waaaay too long.
Feel free to ask me anything! :3
