Shounen Gintama by Sorachi Hideaki

That was one brutal battle Gintoki and Jiroucho had. Especially Gin-san, it seems that the battle troops they were fighting was one of the elite team of Harusame. I can't bearly watch when I saw Gin and Jiroucho had been slashed from many directions. Yet they finally win, because of their deep down powerful soul (OH YEAH~)

we dont know if they are really defeated.... I am wondering why they are compared to the Yato Clan... or maybe Sorachi only showed the elite guys of the Yato Clan... (yeah... Kagura, Kamui and Umibouzu are Elites..)

I think these guys are basically equivalent to Yato footsoldiers, which I don't think we've ever seen (though one of Kamui's pals was arguably at this level). Umibouzu is known on a universal level, and fought evenly with Housen. Kamui's taken Umibouzu's arm, and both he and Kagura are obviously among the more powerful Yato being Umibouzu's children.

But man, Gintoki wasn't kidding when he said the fight would be rated X. Especially that bit where he stabbed the guy through the dome. Epic.

The battle with Harusame is over, but Kata ran off. All left is the battle between Gintoki and Jiroucho. Both men fight each other for their own promises. In the end it was Gintoki win with a beautiful shot, without killing anyone, and a magnificent ending.

really good the chapter... the most espectacular arc end really good.. with out any good guy dead.. but.. what will happen after this??? the plot is becoming serious....

As for 308 it was very good although I'm a bit disappointed that Gintoki didn't kill Jirouchou (especially when Pirako was watching, this could be interesting ;P) but it's just Gin's character so I don't mind. And it turned out that he didn't want to kill Otose but that was a bit strange then that he injured her. It didn't make any sense, he loved her and he cut her down because...? And why did Gintoki and everyone be so worried when she wasn't even lethally injured and could recuperate very quickly (she was out from the hospital in not time). Were the doctors there so incompetent that they couldn't diagnose the extent of her wounds (doubtful since they managed to patched her up) or did everyone never asked? It was a bit inconsistent overall.

The whole point was to keep his promise to Tatsugorou - to protect the things that were important to him. Jirochou was important to Tatsugorou, so killing him would be breaking that promise (though hey, I bet that pipe was important to him too...)

And it turned out that he didn't want to kill Otose but that was a bit strange then that he injured her. It didn't make any sense, he loved her and he cut her down because...?

He had to take her out of the picture because he didn't want her to see what he'd become during the battle (the whole discarding his manhood and humanity thing).

And why did Gintoki and everyone be so worried when she wasn't even lethally injured and could recuperate very quickly (she was out from the hospital in not time). Were the doctors there so incompetent that they couldn't diagnose the extent of her wounds (doubtful since they managed to patched her up) or did everyone never asked? It was a bit inconsistent overall.

Given that Jirochou's a skilled swordsman, I think wounding her somewhere where it would appear lifethreatening wouldn't be very difficult at all. And given that she had blood loss in addition to the wound itself, she could have been near death even if the wound weren't mortal.

All in all, I thought this was a really clean ending to the arc, and sets it up nicely for a much larger conflict with the Harusame. In hindsight, the reason Sorachi didn't bring the Jouishishi or Shinsengumi into the picture was probably so he could save them for the bigger fight. And let's keep in mind - it's much harder to shatter someone's sword and not hurt him than it would be simply to kill him; this is really also a roundabout way of demonstrating Gintoki's dominance.

Chapter 309:
Jiroucho wake up, found himself with Otose and Saigou, together in the same room of hospital. Jiroucho confess his apologize to Otose, and then in the middle of it, a bunch of people broke out into the room. They seem to get ready for the recording (for what, you guess?). Otose replied to Jiroucho that she had gained enough happiness since she was in Kabuki town, meeting with everyone.

Meanwhile, Kata who ran away while ago, come back with a group of assassins, ready for revenge. But Pirako stand in her way, not letting Kata hurting her dad any further. Then Yorozuya join in the fight, and Kata was beaten down by Gintoki. Pirako confess that she don't have the power and confidence to stay at her father's side anymore, and willing to accept any punishment. Gintoki give her a paper, telling her to go the place written on it after the wounds healed. Days later, the Kabuki town returned to its own self. Much merrier. Pirako went to the place told by Gintoki, and found a man.

Man: Listen carefully.
Man: I had been living long in Kabuki town. And had been in a long battle as the same bad guys in the town.
Man: Rather than helping up my underlings, I realized what I really need to do. Holding up the embarassing burden, I was in the middle way to get back the things I lost.
Man: The name of the boss, or my old self, I had throw them away.
Man: I'm...the father of Chin Pirako, Jiroucho.
Jiroucho: Mind me to ask, your name?
Pirako: I-I'm... the lowest underling of Yorozuya... in Edo Kabuki Town...
Pirako: I was searching for my lost father...
Pirako: Because of my seniors' help... I...able to come here...
Pirako: I'm Jiroucho's daughter, Chin Pirako.
Jiroucho: Looks like it's a fate that we meet each other here.
Jiroucho: How about...letting me accompanied you for a journey?

Meanwhile, Otose, together with her staffs and Yorozuya, sitting in front of her husband's table with manjyuu and flowers, the same flowers from the field where father and daughter...reunited again.

Jiroucho: I've come back.

Seems to me from the ongoing reruns that Gintama should return once there's enough manga material. I think it's just their way of avoiding tedious filler.

Kata's failure cause her to gone crazy. Meanwhile, Harusame want Kamui to get rid of the samurai in their group which refered to Takasugi's division. Because it was Samurai who destroyed Kata's plan before. But in the end it was Kamui who was being cheap shot by Harusame cause they are afraid of Yato's powers. In the end, Takasugi told Kamui: "I will kill Gintoki for you, so go ahead and die" *SLASH*

Two serious arcs in the row...wow never saw that coming. Will Kamui be safe? And Takasugi finally made his move Looks like there will be a greater battle waiting for Yorozuya. Alright Katsura, Sinsengumi, your sleep time is over, time to move on! I bet there will be more old characters showing up this time^^ (I hope) Duh~~ Suddenly I got a feeling that Gintama is getting near to the final battle? (I hope not ><)

maybe not.... maybe is time to see a great battle but after that maybe we will se a more serious preparation from the chars....

Man this looks like it's going to be the central arc of Gintama - like the Shishio/Juppongatana arc of Kenshin. Straight up war!
