... or continuations of older series that ended prematurely.
is there something like that? i never saw a anime ending and then continues later. just know of series like mago, which paused last quartal because the production studio waited for ratings and sales. other like d.graymen stopped after the anime reached the manga or others like gantz ended in a totally bad way, so they can't continue without a remake of the beginning.

But I do think this current arc has to be finished before an anime, because there's no real gap in between the two villains introduced in the 2nd and 3rd arc.
i don't think so. it's fast pacing as long there is a cushion, so it can end well and won't be axed.

There's reborn and D-gray man that moved to SQ now but both have anime on hiatus.

HxH? Dunno if there are enough chapters but probably.

I can think of three non-Jump examples: Inuyasha, Hellising, and FMA all got new anime series about 5+ years after their first anime series ended. I am sure there are Jump series that have had their anime rebooted, I just can't think of them atm.

I think having a proper season of 26 episodes, then stopping and continuing in a couple of months is a good idea. It runs a little like how American TV shows operate, and it reduces the amount of filler.

Dragonball Z Kai is another example, from WSJ.

Rurouni Kenshin is getting a new series. I have no idea if it's a continuation or a reboot, but it definitely counts.

For the series that has not yet gotten an anime in WSJ, Medaka seems to be the most likely one. Given the fact that Shinbou and Nishio had a pretty good working relationship in doing the Monogatari animes, and the fact that Shinbou is hot commodity right now because of the (IMO overhyped and overrated) Madoka Magica anime, I can already picture him sending an offer/proposal no one can refuse for Medaka Box.

Are there any statistics about how many female readers WSJ has and maybe even for what series they mostly vote?

Yes, there were some published in a Media Guide. In 2010 20.2% of the readers were girls.

But I don't think there is any real info on what they're voting for. It's common sense though that series like KHReborn! and Bleach have a huge female following (mainly Fujoshis, I'd guess) because of all the bishounen in their stylish outfits and the shipping potential...

It doesn't matter that much what they vote, because female votes (especially those 20+) are counted less while the targeted demographic group (teens and grade schoolers) are weighed more.

I highly doubt SHAFT/Shinbo will be ever doing another Nisio project aside from the Bake prequel/sequels.

Bake was a 2009 series

Kizu the prequel is a movie coming out some time in 2012.

You than have the two Nise novels that continue after the events of Bake, that's another tv series

You than have the two Neko novels that can be another tv series.

Than you have the remaining 5 novels which can be split into two tv series. The 2nd of those 5 just came out a few weeks back.

So yeah SHAFT have done one 15 episode tv series and are currently working on a Movie. They have potentially another 4 11-15 episode long tv to go... We'll be lucky to get all that done by 2017 and that's if Nisio doesn't add to the series in the meantime!

Long story short, they're too busy with that stuff + everything else to do other Nisio projects. WHITE FOX who did Katanagatari might do something like Zaregoto and Medaka Box is going to be a 4 cour long series at least...

I know very well about Nishio's light novels. I bought and read everything up to Hana-monogatari, which came out about 2 months ago.

As for the length of the series that is to come, I don't think they will be able to do a full 12/15 for every two book like they did with Bakemonogatari, simply because there's not that much material to work with.

The two Nisemonogatari novels are pretty much just two arcs (with a bit more side developments + interactions with the girls), and do you think they could make a 15 episode out of just 2 arcs? Not without dragging it out, no. For crying out loud, even the 5 episodes of the Tsubasa arc was pushing it a little.

The most likely scenario would be to have Nisemono 1 and 2, Kabukimono, and Nekomono white and black into probably 20~24 episodes. The timeline would also fit better since there's a semi time-skip between the end of Neko white and Hana.

Back to the topic of Medaka Box. The fact is, SHAFT doesn't have a WSJ anime on their resume, and having one would boost it greatly. Sure, it is pure speculation at this point, but don't dismiss it so fast :p

SHAFT can barely produce one cour series without majorly stuffing up production, you think they can handle a 4 cour series? SHAFT are notorious for finishing stuff the day it actually airs and if they can't finish it you get stuff like Nadeko's episode, that infamous Hidamari Sketch and who can remember those god awful Moonphase episodes?

wait!? when they announce animes to start for example tomorrow, they did the episode just a week ago? not accumulate preproduction and voice casting and test screenings. i thought they do the complete season and then air it, meanwhile the production for the next season begins.

Japanese animation production is much different from American animation production. While the latter finishes much earlier than air-date (much earlier, almost a year in advanced some times), Japanese production is often closer to the air date. SHAFT is a big victim of this system, as was previously stated they often cut corners and almost barely make the deadlines (some times leading to episodes not airing on time either). At least the blu-rays are spruced up.

But completely off topic.

I'm airing on the side that kuroko might not get an anime at all, maybe an ova if anything (I guess I'm bias because I really don't care for it). We probably won't see much until next year anyway, the nura anime is going to start back up in the summer and Bakuman in the fall, WSJ has its fill of anime right now.

An extra thank you, Cross. :)

I'm actually surprised that WSJ has/had so many anime adaptations in its current line-up. Even without the veterans (OP, Naruto & Bleach), there are still couple of strong series. The magazine might not make as much money if one of the Big 3 ends, but it shouldn't collapse like what some believed a few years ago.

Is there anyone who has already read the oneshots on NEXT?

If so it would be great to know what people think about Godland company and what is it about.

I;d like to know this as well. Especially since there's a reasonable possibility this may be seralized at some point.

I know Mago had a oneshot in 2007 - don't know when exactly though and it came out as serialized in March 08, how much time does it take more or less in order for a oneshot to become serialized assuming that it's very good?

In bakuman it looked loke it all happens in a breeze(relatively to what I thought) is that really the case in real life and could you bring any info if you have some?

On a different subject, what is the difference between a oneshot in Jump and a oneshot in Next, does one signifies being closer to serialization than the other?
and if a jump oneshot means that someone is closer does that mean that Psyren did that bad that Iwashiro needed to go beck to Next oneshot instead of Jump since I don't recall him having to do another oneshot before Psyren and after Mieru hito or at least I didn't find one.

Thanks in advance
