Yeah,kinda strange.Even though Medaka's side has two gag-manga with about 8 pages(?) and Kuroko's side has a series with 25 pages.Still weird.

Bleach beat OP, it's a miracle! Kubo must have used his Twitter account to spam bribes to his fans!

Either way, what's up with this "two sides" thing? I don't recall having seen such a scenario before. It's kind of annoying, as I want to see where Naruto ranked in terms of OP and Bleach.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

is is just 1 week, so get over it. next time everything is normal.

regarding endings. I understand that editors want to run series as long as they can, but after ending it the way you want maybe 1 or 2 absents, couldn't it happen that you don't know what to draw about next week? it's not like they can force you to draw anything at all or want to make you 4 weeks of garbage just to have something they can published. i would love if they would use another way of doing things like this. for example naruto ending "normally", goes on break for don't know, maybe a year and the get's a continuation like naruto and naruto shippuuden. it's not like they loose something, but they would have a better plotted follow up story, which could go on for another 10 years.

besides i don't see a point how they could force any artist they have to do more than the artist wants. even if kishimoto want's do end it and than don't get the chance to publish anything in jump because of his behaviour, every other magazine would welcome him with open hands. so what is there to fear for them?

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

If we use the rankings from the toc and match it together with the preview, then the normal TOC should have looked something like this:

Kuroko no Basket & Medaka Box (Cover & Lead CP)
Bleach
Naruto / One Piece
One Piece / Naruto
Gintama
Nisekoi / Sket Dance
Sket Dance / Nisekoi
Bakuman
Toriko (Center Colour)
Pajama na Kanojo
Haikyuu!!
Kochikame / Inumaru Dashi
Inumaru Dashi / Kochikame
Magico
Reborn!
Beelzebub
Kurogane
Genson! Kodai Seibutsu-shi Pakky
Nurarihyon no Mago
ST&RS

Yay~~~~~
I'm really happy for Bleach.

I knew it'll go up in rankings with the new arc, even tho some people expected it to never recover :p

It's the third week where Kurogane is kinda low. I hope it jumps back a little, even tho it's nothing terrible yet.

Does ST&RS have still not enough chapters for it to have the full final tankoubon and be cancelled afterwards?

As of Issue #18, ST&RS only has 3 chapters for volume 5. ST&RS still needs another 5-8 chapters to fill up volume 5.

It is possible that they could put a oneshot in volume 4 or 5 which counts for about 2-3 chapters worth of material. But it would still need to continue for a few weeks just to get another couple of chapters.

It was possible that ST&RS could have ended with this chapter and would have just have a massive volume 4, but because it is still continuing next week there will be too many pages, not to mention volume 5 has also been announced on the Jump website.

Haikyuu!! begins ranking next week, Kurogane could definately be in some serious trouble.

Re: Weekly Shonen Jump [2011] - Discussion and TOC Talk - Part 2

Isn't it strange that ST&RS survived so long given Jump usual policy ? If I remember correctly its sales do not justify it being kept. Is there other examples of new series which bottomed during such a long time ?

Based on the front cover, there going to be the four one shots. So, I think the new series and cancellation/end most likely going to start after the one shot line-up.

They only cut unpopular series to make room for new ones, so ST&RS had a lucky break. There was enough room after the one shots for HQ and Pajama to be added to WSJ without cutting any series, so ST&RS survived past the serialization meeting. It probably won't survive the one coming up, but it's bottomed out twice as long as most series do, so the author had lots of elbow room to end without rushing.

It's kind of a fun gimmick, better than having two series on a single cover. Both deserve the cover, with their anime debuting next week. This issue is dated for April 2, Medaka debuts on April 4 and Kuroko on April 7.

Kagami ended in issue #11, one week before HQ started. Ending Kagami made room for one of the two new series. It is the only series to end since Ikkyuu in issue #38, 2011. Kagami ending is what saved St&rs, along with the relative lack of new series this year. Assuming Jump is inclined to start new manga any time soon, St&rs chances have improved. There is no telling how HQ and Pajama will rank but the potential exists for them to be canceled, sparing St&rs. Best way to survive a cut is for something newer to be canceled instead.
