What would be the announcement that they both would make at the same time?

Something joint would probably be something big. Sasaki tweeted about big changes coming and mentioned that same thing in the One Piece podcast.

While I would like to read that, it would be weird if the WSJ magazine made a joint announcement to say that Haikyuu would be in English.

Maybe they will be bringing more content overseas, like the Kodansha Japan and CR manga thing. That could entail Haikyuu being in English too.
Or maybe Hunter x Hunter coming back. Lol. At least a HxH announcement would entail something for Japanese readers.

The timing doesn't make sense for it to be related to HxH (and JUMP hasn't made a big deal out of his previous returns from a hiatus so I can't imagine they'd do so now) or any specific series for that matter so it's probably something else. Not sure what to expect though

However, Shokugeki no Soma is more successful than Haikyuu!!, you cannot compare them now that Haikyuu!! has an anime. Haikyuu!! conquered the public bit by bit, but Shokugeki was a success since the beginning, the first volume sells well and it is always in the top 5 of the TOC. Wait for Shokugeki anime, except if they do something really bad, it will be a success.

seriously? I thought he would go with Fukichi (was that his name? the name of the best friend?) because he was the best of the bunch with his observation of supernatural gifted friends as a normal human beeing.

I'm really looking forward to Shokugeki anime, more than Ansatsu Kyoushitsu anime. I believe that the announcement of the anime will be this year, maybe in October.
