Re: Short & Quick Translation Request Thread (Thread for members with little/no JP knowledge. OP for instruction.)

Could somebody translate this piece of text.
It's from the official guidebook of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
There is an intense drive that blows the audience away in the second half of Gurren Lagann, where a point of interest lies in the scale of the Gurren Lagaan series. If the Lagann is about 1 metre in size, then the Gurren Lagann is about 5 metres etc., the estimations are illustrated below. However, the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is a materialisation of thoughts, and hence its magnitude cannot be calculated (to be precise, it does not exist in the physical world.) Do take this as a rough guide: comparing the Gurren Lagann at the beginning and the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, their difference in magnitude is 10^25 fold, which is 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 fold* (in terms of 'Gurren Lagann,' that is 10 quadrillion** fold.) You may say, its size is beyond imagination.

Caption:
The Arc-Gurren Lagann breaking out*** from the Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann is one of the most enthralling scenes.

SCALE SIZE
Gurren Lagann --- Human
Arc-Gurren Lagann --- Tokyo
Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann --- Moon
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann --- Galaxy

* 10^25 should be 1 with 25 zeros to follow. There are only 24 zeros when the article writes the number. Probably a typo (i.e. missing a zero,) because 10禾予 in the parentheses is 1 with 25 zeros following.
** Depending on where you live, 1 quadrillion has either 24 or 15 zeros. I use 1 quadrillion = 1 with 24 zeros to follow.
*** Or words to that effect. I have yet to see TTGL, so I'm not sure of the exact action here.

Re: Short & Quick Translation Request Thread (Thread for members with little/no JP knowledge. OP for instruction.)

making some corrections in English and I got this one line thats giving me a little trouble not sure how to word it

つ-かあんた、 今までそんな事知らないでここにいたのね。

Translation I received: that's typical for you being here up to know without knowing anything about that stuff

The context is him being clueless so I think the gist of it would be "how typical of you not to know anything." like he's out of the loop but just to make sure im not leaving something out someone mine re translating that line please and thanks:)

つ-かあんた、 今までそんな事知らないでここにいたのね。
"Well, you didn't even know that stuff until now, even though you were here (the whole time)."
"Well, you've been here (the whole time) and you didn't even know that stuff until now"

It seems to be said as an explanation to him asking "why didn't I know?".

The original translation is not so bad , but JP txt doesn't say anything about "that's typical of you," so change that to "you" + correct the typo.

"that's typical for you being here up to know" ---> So, you've been here
"up to know" ---> That's a typo. The translator meant "now" not "know"
"without knowing anything about" --> fine
"that stuff " ---> fine, or simply "it"

Re: OFF TOPIC: Need help translating kanji

The reading of those kanji is the name of your file (Gouma or Kouma). I suppose it's a name that should be read phonetically, but going by the meanings of kanji, it's something like "eternal demon".

@yondaitachi
Gohma/Gouma or Kohma/Kouma sound good to me, too.
If you want to discuss name related issues, there is also a thread in TA Classroom called Names: Name related questions and discussions.

What, really?

Why don't you transcribe that into hiragana first, and then ask people to translate?

Re: Short & Quick Translation Request Thread (Thread for members with little/no JP knowledge. OP for instruction.)

Fix your transcription errors. Sorry, I don't have the time or the patience to do it myself.

Anyway, the only thing that looks like a word is げんかいかいきょうせん. Hard to say what it means phonetically without the kanji... If it were げんかいきょうかいせん I'd guess it's 限界境界線 = outer limit boundary. But for かいきょうせん the only decent choice that comes up is 海峡線 -- rail line that goes under a strait to Hokkaido (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaikyō_Line), more generally the line of a strait. So... outer limit strait line? You'll probably have to figure it out yourself from here.

The other words, if you transcribe them correctly, are most likely merely phonetic -- made up place names.

I assume you don't know Japanese? First time I've seen somebody write ぼ as Iま" , that's pretty creative :XD
Anyways the rest is as cmertb says. Below is how the words are pronounced. Assuming they are place names and not gibberish, who knows, maybe you would recognise a few:

さへるた -------------------------- sa he ru ta
べぜろせ ------------------------- be ze ro se
げんかいかいきょうせん ------ genkaikaikyousen
くかんゆ -------------------------- yu ka n yu ku ka n yu
みんぼ --------------------------- mi n bo
おちま ----------------------------- o chi ma

Your 限界境界線 (genkaikyoukaisen) sounds good to me.

@souhail
You missed one black circle ("), so it is げ (ge) instead of け (ke) like cmertb and Utsune posted. The island is rather similar to Shikoku[/URL] island, so you don't need to consider Hokkaido. Other words are names or some sort.

Help Translating a Couple of Things

I am needing help translating the three areas marked off in red. I would really appreciate it if someone could add the romanji in when they translate it. It would also be awesome if anyone has any sites they recommend for sound effect translations.

Hime-san ni, koten-geinou wa muzukashi katta ka?
Was the (Japanese) classical theater too difficult/too much for you, Hime-san?

古典芸能(koten geinou): classical theater
Examples: nou/noh (EN wiki); kabuki (wiki); bunraku (wiki), and buyou (wiki)

(2) ついっ (tsui)
snatch

(3) シシシシ .. (shi shi shi shi ..): giggle (hehe, hee hee, hah hah)

Re: Help Translating a Couple of Things

Hey lovely people, I need help with a magazine title. It's a porn/dirty magazine, so the name may be naughty...

So I can't really recognize the first sign, is it a kanji or the katanas ナマラ (namira) in a weird order? It doesn't make sense to me, though. Second half means beppin, beauty, that's clear.
Thanks for your help!

Hiragana: なまら
Katakana: ナマラ
Romaji: namara
Type: a dialect (in Niigata and Hokkaido).
EN: Very

So the title is something like Great Beauty.
