Discussion Fate of Grimoire Heart?

[kkck]

Ok, as of the end of Grimoire Heart there were a few members of the former guild who survived and whose fates remain unknown. The main members were zancrow, kain, meldy, urtear, azuma, zoldeo, rustyrose and hades along with bluenote.

Out of them hades seems to be definitely dead. His soul was seemingly freed from that demon so odds are he moved on to the afterlife or whatnot. In any case it seems unlikely for him to return.

Zancrow did die however as far as we can tell his soul was actually devoured by zeref. I think it is possible for this to be a mechanism to bring him back in the future, perhaps revived as a flame demon (well, whatever he is revived as is likely to be flame related). Akuma died although his death seems to be very definitive so to speak. He just turned into a tree. I guess it is plausible for zeref to have devoured his soul somehow.

Meldy remains a member of crime sorcerie which means she certainly has a role to play along with gerard. Ur seems to be a closed plot point by now. She is a 30 year old old lady... I am not sure of how or why she would be brought back. I guess it is plausible for her to be turned into a demon or something by zeref.

then we have kain and rustyrose... WTH happened to them? Did zeref kill them? Did they join zeref?

[Holt]

Seems zeref spared kain and rustyrose.

However, I believe they learned their lesson and would refrain from such acts in the future. I mean, 8 years after (counting the two timeskips), there's been no word on them.

There's also bluenote whose whereabouts are unknown. Perhaps acnologia devoured him en route to tenrou

I doubt they have any role to play again aside meredy who is with jellal. I wonder if the fate of bluenote and azuma were intentionally left open.
Jellal might try to recruit them like he did oracion seis although he'll have to find and probably defeat them first.

Then jellal's statement to Erza about having to defeat him or so. If he got those two, that'll be quite the squad he has with him. Especially if they all got stronger as well.

[Impossibility]

I wouldn't be surprised to seem them pop up again in some context, even somehow connected to Crime Sorciere. There's also the possibility that they appear in one of the many mini-arcs to reunite the members of FT. I expect quite an exhaustive list of characters to appear during the upcoming journeys.

[Dried Ambrosia]

I still hope Ultear's part is not finished. Oh well.

[nichendrix]

I don't see they coming back soon, but it was implied that Zeref is somehow the master of sorts to Grimoire Heart, or at least co-opted them to do their biding, so that's probably the arc before the last, with Crime Sociere fighting against them, leaving team Natsu extended (plus other dragon slayers) free ti fight against zeref and acnologia.

[kkck]

I'd be interesting to see the renmants of grimoire heart joining with crime sorcerie. An army to fight zeref made up of those who at some point fought for him or for the vestiges of his destruction. All 3 dark guilds were intimately connected to zeref after all although oracion 6 les than the rest.

[Holt]

Yes, but so many fighters against what seems to be only zeref. As much as we know, zeref is alone. Well you can probably count acnologia but that's it. Both of then are certain to fall at FT's hands. Plus there are the other guilds.
Except we get introduced to new characters who are on zeref's side.

Well, there is also end although his purpose seems to be to end zeref... You also have to consider zeref can make demons at his own whim, odds are he will make some pretty powerful ones in the future. I doubt zeref is actually alone. The guy managed to get servants before he even appeared in the manga, I would be surprised if there aren't people around willing to serve him now that he is actually back.

[Holt]

Yeah, that's were the new characters would come in. I could definitely see him creating demons however, Mard Geer was his second masterpiece (after END). If he isn't creating more stronger than that, it'll kinda be a waste of time. Also considering his state of mind and apparently not being as powerful as he was, I'm not entirely sure he could create demons on par with the tartaros ones. Although to be fair, even those ones could be a lot of trouble depending on the opponents and if he makes a hundred Mard-Geer class demons, that would be something.

[milek]

They are gone. We saw that at least two member joined Zeref and former master Hades dead.

[Holt]

Considering how bluenote just got embarrassed, there's no hope for anyone from grimoire heart. Even if they brought back hades and azuma.

[kkck]

Well, bluenote could have a future role still as an enemy to the weaker members of the guild. Or perhaps he can be turned into a demon by zeref... And considering only rustyrose and kain are left unaccounted for it only makes sense they would have a role in the future, however small.

[Holt]

Maybe getting turned into a demon would work although I dunno how effective that would be. Well he's certainly a formidable opponent for the weaker members but he'll either be a stepping stone for them or he'll get some time to shine again before someone hands his ass to him. Personally, considering how last chapter was, I'd rather we just move onto bigger things. Bluenote is probably as best as it gets from pre ts enemies and he isn't a threat. We could just get new enemies or demons or something.

So far turning people into demons has proven to be effective in making them significantly stronger. We saw minerva be able to keep up with erza while using her second origin, which a while back was a triumph card for erza and genma became powerful enough to be considered stronger than any of the kyukimon and give trouble to sting and rogue even though the implication was that before the transformation genma was weaker than even sting alone. As far as we know bluenote is significantly stronger than past sting and rogue at least... Someone like him becoming a demon would be quite something to fear, specially if we consider the power increase could be comparable or greater than what second origin can do for someone. Perhaps an alternative would be redemption for bluenote... As in finally seeing the light or something. He is not that developed but his presence in the manga is not non existent either. As far as I have read through mashima's work he likes to get proper closure on as many characters as he can, bad guys usually come back. I think it is plausible bluenote will return one more time to die either a hero or a demon so to speak.

Also, there is no reason for other past enemies to not have grown stronger. Rustyrose had a particularly deadly magic and kain was strong enough to best natsu... 8 years with zeref are not the sort of thing for which you get nothing to show, assuming they stayed with him.

Yeah I know they get stronger but would it be enough? I doubt it. Considering how easy this was for Natsu, demon bluenote while fearsome would atmost require lightning flame mode and that might be overkill. Granted even current bluenote is a force to be reckoned with, its hard to take him that serious when Natsu had such an easy time. As for bluenote being redeemed, I dunno. As long as he doesn't have to fight Natsu caliber mages (probably the usual 5- laxus, erza, gajeel, gray, gildarts, maybe mirajane assuming they progressed as well which seems likely), he could be relevant but the story usually revolves around those guys (and Lucy). This may not be the last of him but I'm not expecting anything more to be honest. He would be an invaluable asset to crime sorceire though.

As for those others can we really expect them to be superior to bluenote? Even then they'd had to be a lot stronger to get base Natsu serious and he has two superior forms, then throw plot and Nakama power in the mix and honestly you can hardly take those guys seriously. A week ago, we thought there would be a decent showdown between bluenote and Natsu considering past showings.
This was why the latest chapter left a bad taste. Its like where do we go from here?

Didn't Azuma die after Erza defeated him? I mean, he turned into a little grove of trees, which implied to me that he died.
Bringing back Cain and Rustyrose would be interesting, but seeing how Bluenote went down, they'd have to be on the side of good to be very relevant in the story now.

Yeah he did, just throwing ideas around. The process might be reversible.

I think that would sort of ruin the point of the scene... And besides, how would it go? Would it be reversed by someone or would he do it himself? If he can reverse it himself then the side effect of his lost magic is kinda more of a inconvenience than anything. its more an actual blessing considering the side effect only kicked in after erza gave him what seems to be a mortal wound. Unless having your chest cut open with the katana of a mage who for 150 chapters has been referred to as comparable to the 10 wizard saints does not give you a mortal wound. I am pretty sure even WEBmd says every bit of this is pretty darn lethal. And if he was found... how? He turned into a tree, how exactly would someone find him? At best he would be a lone magical tree in a magical island which is mostly magical tree. I guess "magic" is as good an answer as any but even then it is kinda hard to process... Even if he was he was the only magical tree of that species in the island he would be extremely hard to find and its not like anyone has had that much time to do that. Tenrou island has been back at most for about a year so the implication would be that someone found a magical tree in a magical island which is 90% comprised of a magical tree in less than a year.

To me azuma is not really that much of an interesting character... His only motivation is fighting against strong people so he is like a cooled down zancrow so to speak. The only thing that made him retroactively interesting IMO is that walrod is a tree magic user. It made me wonder if there was any deeper meaning if the magic each grimoire heart member had. Hades was interested in zeref so I wouldn't find it weird if the magic each one has is meant to reflect zref related things. Walrod and azuma, zancrow and end... They all used lost magic so its not that weird a development in that regard. We only need a tad more context in regards to the other members.

[Holt]

Well to be fair, we had dragons somehow store themselves in human and actually somehow exit without tearing them to pieces. Lumen Historie is frozen mavis (although that's probably an easier process). Mavis (an illusion while her actual body is frozen) managed to save the entirety of FT and keep them in some sort of hibernation form for 7 years. I wouldn't really think it impossible to somehow reverse someone who turned into a tree.

I'm not interested in them though (GH in general). I said so before if bluenote couldn't even shake Natsu, I don't expect the weaker members of GH to be really worth much.

[Dranzer]

Grimoire Heart being my favourite guild of all time I have hope for them. But in all seriousness Hiro probably wouldn't bring them back, seeing as Bluenote just came back with Orochi's Fin and got annihilated by post ts Natsu Dragneel, Hades went to the after life, Zancrow is dead: Zeref, Ultear is a grandma, Azuma is a grove of trees. The only possibilities left is Meldy, Kain Hikaru and Zoldeo.

But an interesting, yet highly unlikely rumour going around, is that the new Avatar dark guild is the Edolas versions of the 7 Kin Of Purgatory.

Altogether, although I have hope for GH, (Grimoire Heart) I highly doubt that they will get emphasis ever again, seeing as most of them are deceased or disadvantaged at the moment. But still the possibility that has been suggested before stays, demonification.
