Another thing we could potentially do is add a rule that the pair you put into D3 has to have the lowest base total of the three whereas the one in D1 needs to have the highest. No idea if you guys would like this, but it'd probably allow for better planning. I don't think this would've worked with singles because some matches are just too static there, but it might be good for doubles - thoughts?
What if we give every character a fav position, and that will give the player a stat boost if he plays wherever he likes? Sounds better than just forcing it.

Liking Data Players so far even though I'm extremely lazy to check how Mitsuya does against others in the 11-20. Kinda the same with Krauser but I assume you nerfed him.

-

Rly liking the rest of the chars.

What does ¨speed return¨ mean though (Miyako/Hakamada)? Sorry if you explained it before.

Yay the twins are dif.

-

Sieg's revenge would combo nicely with the ¨fav position¨ thingie I suggested :p

-

Liking Migihashi as well ^^

I like the idea of buffing stats of some chars too, kinda wonder how they all end up tho.

I think the 4 categories would be cool btw, but it does sound way harder to make (and in the end... maybe too much) than just having them react to a KO.

Sorry for taking long yet writing little ^^'

Well, the idea behind forcing it is that you don't have those blowout victories anymore. I'm willing to entertain this idea though, my question now is: how would those positions be determined?

Taking a quick look, Mitsuya loses to Fuwa, Date and Hakamada and beats the rest.

I did nerf Krauser. He has pretty much exactly one shot at the KO now. The conditions for dodging that one are the same as for 10BS though, so he's not bad.

What does ¨speed return¨ mean though (Miyako/Hakamada)? Sorry if you explained it before.
Basically it refers to an ability checking their Speed stat. E.g. one ability might say "ACE if opponent's Speed is less than 4", and in that case Miyako and Hakamada don't return their real Speed but a modified value.

Yeah I know, I got it (and I think it would be nice tbh), but I just thought that maybe something like this would be better.

Well... with the manga I guess. Maybe some certain chars can be picked not to have a fav position (Tezuka?) but a lot of characters usually (not always) play in the same spot (Yukimura, Atobe, Golden Pair, Sengoku, etc...).

I'll go through the information we have available and see how many patterns I can find. If there's enough patterns I'll try to come up with something.

---------- Post added July 13, 2015 at 01:38 PM ---------- Previous post was June 20, 2015 at 04:29 PM ----------

So at the above, I didn't really come up with much I fear. Once you get to SPoT there's a lot more variety due to characters that would normally fulfill the same role being on the same team. I think it could work for some select few still, but not so much on a larger scale.

Someone asked if Konomi has decided on a name for Zaizen's special move(s). The answer: "Zaizen Temari", "Zaizen Mokuba", "Zaizen Wandaho." Temari is a kind of handball apparently, google says mokuba is a wooden horse, and wandaho stands for wonderful? Konomi says that he leaves the effects of those moves up to the reader's imagination.
Also, should we do something with this? Valid answers to this question are "Yes.", "Yes!" and "YES!!!!!!!!!!".

Lastly, I've decided that I'd like to start the next season in the first or second week of September.

Don't people play temari by kicking it in the air until it fall down? Hard to see it work with tennis though. Maybe it's a knock to the ball up and make it a drop shot? That'll be my guess anyways.

Apparently it's something like that. I'd say it would be a volley for sure and it'd probably fly up high in the air, but making a drop shot out of that seems kind of suicidal? The opponent would have all the time in the world to run up to the net and smash it right back. Unless it's like this. But outside of that I'd think it's like a lob volley.

As for Zaizen Mokuba, I imagine it would be a tactical shot that opens the court, so that the following shot is a winner.

According to what Ken said, I can imagine it being a volley for sure too. I agree that it could be a well aimed lob volley, makes a lot of sense. Can I get a translation or something like that about the other two?

Also, should we do something with this? Valid answers to this question are "Yes.", "Yes!" and "YES!!!!!!!!!!".
Well, imo Yes, as long as it can be also Yes!

On the other hand, YES!!!!!!!!!!

Mokuba = Wooden horse
Only thing I can think of here is the Trojan Horse.

Wandaho = Wonderful
Could be pretty much anything.

Ok the Trojan horse was the first time that came into my mind as well (same with the lob volley btw, this is scary '-' )... and I'm also thinking it could be what you said, lol. Zaizen hits an approach shot, that seems easy to return, but then Zaizen easily predicts the direction and ends the point with a volley.

As he's an all rounder, and we thought of 2 volley shots (or well, 1 volley and 1 approach), I'd like ¨wonderful¨ to be something from the back court.

Kemari usually don't go that high, but it's just a move name so I guess it might not matter that much.

I'll like to see kemari being a volley/drop shot hit using the racquet itself. It would be a cool way to display a genius part of Zaizen..

Well, the goal of kemari is to keep the ball flying. It doesn't necessary have to fly high or anything. On the other hand, if you can't keep the ball going, that's pretty much a lose. So I was thinking if Zaizen can hit a ball using his racquet toward the opponent, hitting the opponent gut in a way that make the ball fly high and not fall into Zaizen court, that would be cool.

Oh, so you mean kinda like Atobe's smashes, except he'd aim for the strings instead of the grip?

---------- Post added at 12:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:12 AM ----------

This is what I'm getting so far:

Hikaru Zaizen [15, SB: 1, HP: 5, AR, L]
(SPE: 3, POW: 2, STA: 3, MEN: 4, TEC: 3)

-Genius of Shitenhouji [Auto]:
Every opponent's highest stat decreases by 1. If an opponent has multiple highest stats, they all decrease by 1.

-Zaizen's Wooden Horse [Auto]:
If Mental exceeds an opponent's Mental, that opponent's stats return at -1 when checked for ACE effects.

-Zaizen Temari [Special - Lv 2]:
Data: ???
Extra: If ???, opponent's Mental decreases by 1 during the following point.

-Zaizen Wonderful [Special - Lv 2]:
Data: Power increases by 1, Mental increases by 1, Technique increases by 1.
Extra: ACE if every opponent's highest stat is less than 3.

To explain Wooden Horse, let's say an opponent has 4 Technique. When an ACE effect checks for Technique (e.g. ACE if opponent's Technique is less than 4), Technique is treated as if it was only a 3 and not a 4. This doesn't apply to stuff like HP damage calculations though.

Haven't fleshed out Temari yet, but I think I'd like that kind of effect so that it has good synergy with his other abilities.

As you can probably tell, Zaizen is mostly a supporting character like this, but considering his stats anything more is probably unrealistic at this point in time.

This is mostly a note for myself which characters I still have to create or complete for next season. I more or less have something in mind for all of them, but if anyone wants to make any suggestions they're of course welcome to do so. Below are also the stats I'm going to use for the top level characters in that list.

??? Amadeus [32, SB: 2, HP: 11, AR, R]
(SPE: 7, POW: 6, STA: 5, MEN: 6, TEC: 8)

Leopold Camus [31, SB: 2, HP: 10, SV, L]
(SPE: 8, POW: 5, STA: 5, MEN: 6, TEC: 7)

Q.P. [30, SB: 3, HP: 12, AR, L]
(SPE: 6, POW: 6, STA: 6, MEN: 6, TEC: 6)

Ralph Reinhardt [30, SB: ?, HP: ?, ?, ?]
(Unsure about the exact distribution, but it's gonna be 8/7/6/5/4 with the 8 being in Mental.)

Kazuya Tokugawa [27.5, SB: 3, HP: 11, AR, L]
(SPE: 5.5, POW: 5.5, STA: 5.5, MEN: 5.5, TEC: 5.5)

I was actually thinking something more visual than in-game.

Or well, diving shepherd '-'

He stands on the net pole (or wtv that it's called) then makes a jump and hits a volley like Kikumaru Bazooka. Kinda close to a Cool Drive.

But imagine that with a tennis racket instead of a person :p

It could have 2 uses. A counter to a lob, were he hits an unexpected shot as strong as a regular drive. Or it could be a mix between Myougi and Viking Horn, yet way better.

How about chair shot? Shot the ball at empire chair and knock it into opponents. Lol.
