I'm not trolling. Just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean I'm trolling.
I'm a blunt person, I'm not flaming, I'm not being rude, I'm just stating my opinion.
Not trolling.
Is there proof it was a legal issue? That's all I'm asking and as far as I'm aware there is absolutely none.
You always end up calling Viz a group of incompetents on the basis of this Zoro/Zolo thing because there's no public evidence of a legal issue.

You should however consider that Viz was careful about possible trademark disputes with McDonald's.

It was a trademark issue back then - there was no legal dispute. Back then a search of the US Patent Office for Roronoa Zoro reverted to the Zolo spelling

That's not the sole reason.
It's the major one, but I also dislike how they took so long to add MHA to their weekly Jump along with several other series, as well as their straight up refusal to add sports series like Haikyuu and Hinomaru Sumo.

It wasn't though.
There is zero evidence that they changed the trademark because of Zorro.
There is however plenty of circumstance evidence that they changed it because the 4kids dub had premiered just a few short months before the name change.

But then that doesn't explain why no other name was touched. Plenty of 4kids names were changed, but Viz only changed Zoro?

A lot of things that Viz does doesn't make sense.
This is one of them.
Probably something to do with Zoro being a main character I'd assume but you never know with Viz.
Hell, they go as far as to change the fucking title of the series for 26 full volumes of Dragon Ball.

Both numbers are related.

50% of all pirates are from US. It may be a fake number but they are cleary stating it.
The loses of sales are 20 billions. A sale lost (in their books) = someone that pirated instead of buying.
If 50% of these people are from US and the total amount of sales lost are 20 billion, this means that they lose 10 billions only in US.
Of those, some are from manga and some from anime.

You may disqualify Hassler's statement, but then you are disqualifying one of the heads of the American industry.

And there's no deep meaning. It's just a observation of how the entertainment industry works the same, don't matter what media it is.
They do what they could to get more money. I cited RIAA and MPAA because they act in a similar way.
Actualy, all of them do. Who would not want more money?

The manga industry is not imaculated. They may not be as harsh as the music, movies or games ones, but at the end of the day, they act pretty much the same.

I don't get what you are trying to point out or complain about. I never said the 4kids dub wasn't involved in this matter - it did play an important part. You ranted against the translation and the zolo issue itlself. So what is your problem?

Sorry, based on your posts I assumed you were implying that it was solely a trademark issue (which there is no evidence of) because that is all you were saying and assumed you were denying that it was related to 4kids because you never implied it being related to 4kids (until now) despite me bringing it up multiple times.

You only brought it up to find another reason to rant against viz. It was a trademark issue that involved the trademark Zorro, 4kids, Shueisha and viz.

Im done with this topic. Research the topic for yourself

I can see with Funimation and DBZ and trying to be consistent with that, but only changing Zoro to Zolo seems to make more sense as something legal.

Considering this is like, the only character name they changed, it doesn't make sense to have an explanation just calling them bullshitting incompetent asshats. The Yu-Gi-Oh (Tea, Joey, Tristan) and Shaman King (Len, Morty) ones were pretty bad, the changes from 4kids that is, but Viz stuck to the originals still. Yet we have Zolo. Other 4kids names in One Piece weren't used either.

Seems more logical that something else was at play regarding Zoro/Zolo.

Anyways, World Trigger got its anime announcement in the mid 70's right? You think we could expect a My Hero Academia anime announcement by the end of the year?

You keep saying that but refuse to give any evidence.
I'm done having and replying to this discussion until some is brought up.

Evidence: In the beginning viz used "zoro" and at the time of the release of volume 9 respectively Jump issue December 2004 they changed "zoro" to "zolo". What other reason is there than a trademark issue????
For what kind of evidence/explanation are you looking for? What shall we prove? There was a reason viz had to change Zoro's name to Zolo. That should prove that they didn't mess up the transaltion like you implied in your earlier post that was just an insult

Okay, just checked.
World Trigger had its anime announcement when the series was at chapter 61 and the anime premiered when the manga was at chapter 77.
My Hero Academia is much more popular than World Trigger ever was and is currently at chapter 50. We could conceivably get an anime announcement within the next 2-3 months.
I personally hope they wait another full year so we can have more chapters so we don't have to deal with shit pacing, filler, or an anime original end but you never know.
I expected Tokyo Ghoul, Kingdom, and Terra ForMars to get good adaptations seeing how they are the pillars of WYJ but we all know how those turned out.

Dude, I'm going to say this for the last time.
Them using it in the beginning and then changing it when the 4kids dub started says nothing other than they were trying to keep continuity with 4kids and refused to change it back when Funimation started their dub.
I don't see anything suggesting a trademark issue, and as I said as well, even if somebody did try to enforce the trademark the case would be thrown out because it's silly. (see my John Rambo vs John Mcclane argument)
I'm done here.

Acording to Arlong Park:

By some reason "Zolo" was a tradmarked name by Shueisha.
When Viz began releasing One Piece, the name used was "Zoro".
Then 4kids dubs began and it was using "Zolo".
For some bizarre reason Viz changed it to "Zolo" too.

There's no mention to trademark problems.

The dub consistency argument makes less sense because 4kids changed much more than just Zoro across all dubs. They changed Yu-Gi-Oh (Tea, Joey, Tristan) and Shaman King (Len, Morty, Zeke, Trey Racer), but Viz stuck to the originals still. Other 4kids names in One Piece (Ward Newgate, Chaser, Trace) weren't used either. Yet we have Zolo. Seems more logical that something else was at play regarding Zoro/Zolo.

What is so funny?
Did you see a problem?

Problem = The name "Zorro" is already trademark so we can't use "Zoro".
NOT a problem = I trademarked "Zolo" but I use "Zoro" everywhere. I don't care how the American will call it so, fuck it.

PS: Stop trolling.

Just finished reading Best BLues & it was super generic & super predictable

the fact that esj used Kawada's avatar for Hirakata in the authors comments was more entertaining than this chapter

I'm really interested in Best Blue now.
Some people are saying that it is great. Others are saying that it is mediocre.

Best Blue wasn't bad, but it was pretty generic.
I enjoyed the art and paneling though, and the characters while being generic were kind of charming.

Read BB:
-The big problem of the art are the neck (and in a few page, the body anatomy in general) I don't think is a good art but I don't hate them and I hope than still improve.
-The story was pretty predictable and generic, and the character don't help to enter in the story, yes , it isn't worse than Black Clover character, but it doesn't tell me "Please continue reading that".
-Like I said before, the character was boring and predictable, not bad writing in my opinion (except a few moment but that logical to a young author), also we only introduce us 3 character , I don't have much to talk.

In general, a mediocre(not in the bad way) first chapter with a potential to entertainement. I prefer Zumou in all way, but I expected BestBlue was worst, still didn't care if it is axed or took the Zumou position(In my opinion Zumou is doomed), I will still reading this for the curiosity.

I think it will announce the anime adaptation in the same number of chapter of Assassination classroom and Souma(Between 90-100 chapter), WT was a very rare case (one of the most quickly adaptation of the shonen jump), so I don't think that
