I mean it's cool and everything, but I'm actually surprised people are talking more about Spidey than Black Panther. T'Challa steals the scene for me. I was skeptical about the notion of him carrying his own movie, but just from a few scenes in this trailer, I can say I'm probably wrong. Boseman is a great casting for him as well.

And to add to that, I'm not exactly sure how any viewer would side with Captain over this...but I guess I'm saying that without having seen all of the MCU movies leading up to this and I'm only basing that off of what we know of the movie, not the original story.
....Uh I'm Team Captain .Never liked Ironman, all of the Ultron shit would have been avoided if he didn't play at being a mad scientist, just saying.
Yeah we lack a LOT of information regarding this matter. From the looks of it Ironman is pissed because Bucky, aka Winter Soldier, hurt his buddy. And other than that there's the whole registration act.But it's mostly because of Bucky and how he seems to be the bad guy, even though I have a feeling it's a setup. So is Captain supposed to turn his back on him? I don't think so.
In the end it kinda cheapens his motivation, but it also shows how much of a good friend he is, and a nice person overall. And the rivalry if you will between Captain America and Ironman isn't something new, it has been slowly building up throughout all the Avengers movies.
So it was bound to happen anyway. They have two completely different visions, which is exactly the whole point of Civil war.

...And isn't Spidey infinitely more popular than Black Panther? If it's really like I think it is then of course people would be more hyped about him, plus this should be Spidey's return to the MCU. So I'm not sure what's so surprising about it.
But yeah it is nice that they also have Black Panther in it, and his movie should be pretty interesting, but no need to get butthurt because Spidey stole the show. :kappa

As far as I understand spiderman has been the big moneymaker and one if not the most popupar character in marvel since... forever or so. It's not a surprise that people are excited about spiderman... If anything it makes sense, there should be a decent amount of hype for a decent spiderman movie after the almost universally hated last two...

I'm actually looking forward to seeing his part, always liked Spidey, but the last movies spoiled him for me. Anyway I like what they did with his costume, mainly when he squints his eyes(that's what I think he's doing). It's very cartoonish, I like it. It really gives off the vibe that you're watching a live version of the comics, since he does that in it. His eyes aren't supposed to be just big two lifeless blobs lol, although I have no idea how his costume does that.:XD

I read the whole comic arc it's very very loosely based off of. This story looks like it has nothing to do with that arc more or less, besides the name of course. Which isn't such a bad thing because overall that story arc wasn't great.

Looks to me like... Something bad is going to happen. Bucky is going to get blamed for something he may not be responsible for. Tony Stark is going to take the lead as the enforcement guy on the government side and be supper aggressive. Cap is going to be like "I don't know about this Tony...". Tony wants to take Bucky out. Cap feels like something wrong and does stuff behind Tony's back with his avengers crew. Tony gets pissed and the whole thing explodes when War Machine gets taken out by a villain on the grassy knoll.

If that's what it's going to be, it will probably be a "ok" movie. The problem for me is using Bucky Barnes as the focal point. Does anybody really care about Bucky Barnes? Anybody at all?

Especially when Scarlet Witch is sitting right there as mentally unstable as she is adorable. Virtually perfect to be the focal point of an arc like this. Instead they went with the 90 year old cyborg with greasy hair... :eyeroll

Yep that's pretty much it, unless they're keeping something from us. The plot itself isn't complicated, but it should still work, maybe better than Batman vs Superman.
It's funny how some were complaining about Batman VS Superman having so many cameos, when it should be just that. Civil war has definitely more characters and they're involved in the story in some way, so it's not just for the sake of showing them .

And yeah not sure what's so interesting about Winter Soldier, as a character I mean. Captain caring about him so much feels really forced.

I expect the two movies to be very comparable. Not sure if that's a good thing or not though. I could definitely imagine a world in which both these movies come out and be bleak and generally terrible.

I think that's part of the reason the Spidey reveal is such a big thing. Peter Parker has a very important role in Avengers comics. In the grand scheme of superhero power rankings he kind of sucks but he's supposed to be one of the most chatty and wisecracking of all Marvel superheroes. If Spiderman is done right he will steal the show in this movie. Watching him gleefully annoy the other avengers is going to awesome if they don't F up by over dramatizing his character like Fox always did.

As for Winter Solder I definitely don't get it. Marvel have tried to make him a big thing quite a few times and it always fails. The only reason I could imagine picking him over Scarlet Witch is if they were planning to have Cap lose this battle and have Bucky die at the end. Which could be good.

Going by the trailer, I'm thinking Bucky will be at the center of something like the Stamford Incident from the comic arc, instead of Nitro. That's what that big explosion looks to be and when we see T'Challa on the ground face down among the rubble. Not sure if Bucky will actually be responsible for it, whether brainwashed by Hydra or if he'll just be blamed. Obviously this would be enough to bring Black Panther to Iron Man's side, as well as other technological pursuits with the whole vibranium thing. There was also that rumor about Ernie Hudson playing King T'Chaka, and if he died in said incident, it would explain why T'Challa would be leaping over moving vehicles in order to kill Bucky.

Spiderman is definitely the most popular in a lot of ways...but it sort of feels really played out with him in the movies for me, so I'm sort of ambivalent. I also don't understand the idea of him being involved in this arc as a 16 year old. Not sure if it really works like it did in the comics, since he had a pretty important arc in it. Also looks like there's a scene from the trailer that is supposedly Cap in Aunt May's apartment or something. Would be interesting how they handle Spiderman's loyalty in this, since at the end of the trailer it's obvious he's on Stark's side at that time.

And as far as picking sides...I'm just saying that I'm not really that big of a fan of Captain America as a character. I think his altruism and faith placed in someone like Bucky is misguided and stupid as far as the movies go. Or how the trailer appears. I'm guessing it'll make more sense, but it seems odd that a conflict will arise between them over this nutjob edgelord.

Lol yeah, but I have more faith in Marvel than DC. I mean just looking at Ironman's line "I would knock out your perfect teeth" or something like that, it's infinitely better and more refreshing than "Do you bleed?" :XD

I like Marvel's humour and how they don't take themselves too seriously , which is exactly why I hate the DC movies...

Yep that's exactly why I like his character, and is prolly my favorite superhero. Haven't read all his comics, but he likes cracking jokes and I think it works really well in Marvel movies etc. Yep I'm definitely looking forward to that, he can be pretty annoying, would love to see him annoy Ironman. But I'm afraid his role might not be as fleshed out, I mean there's a ton of characters for which they need to cover their arc in the movie, whether it's the two leaders, or Black Widow,Black Panther, and even Winter Soldier...so will they have enough time to cover his? Maybe it will be just a cameo.

I think they went the easy route and went for Winter Soldier because they know how much Captain America cares about him...but also because maybe he's well liked? That would explain why they decided to change a few things in that scene with the explosion. Since from the last Captain movie he had a big role, this one could be seen as a continuity of that, so instead of introducing a new character people wouldn't care about anyway, they went for one who was brainwashed and even was a bad guy, so he's more ambivalent. Although I think there's a chance he didn't do it, so it would actually be a setup.Or he was forced into it in some way.
As long as Captain doesn't die because of Bucky I'll be happy. But somehow I feel he could pull something like that, to sacrifice his life for his.:(

I think it's done on purpose. Marvel decided to have Bucky be more central to the conflict, and as far as friendship goes, he was brainwashed so it's not entirely his fault what happened during the WS movie. So there's little reason for Captain to turn his back on him. It would have been nice to show him help Captain more, and be more of a hero BEFORE this movie happened, because right now all it looks like is that Captain is just believing in him blindly, without actually thinking that he might be guilty of his crimes.
But that would demand having another movie before this one, and maybe then they could have been more faithful to the comics.
And Bucky is basically the spark that ignited all this, but tensions between Ironman and Captain America were already there, from the other MCU movies. But since you haven't watched them...

I don't know if it would matter for me honestly. Whatever happens, Bucky looks to be involved and for a variety of reasons it doesn't seem like it's reconcilable with other members of the Avengers. If T'Challa's father dies in this new Stamford Incident and if Rhodes dies or something...who could blame him or Stark for going after him? He literally tries to kill Stark in the trailer. Why would Captain go out of his way for the guy? Even if he's brainwashed. I mean I guess we do know why and that's what annoys me about him as a character. I'm guessing the whole thing is going to be spurned on by more Hydra nonsense since Crossbones is in the movie, but I'm worried that the whole premise is too flimsy. I'm intrigue, but I'm worried that the conflict is going to be too frivolous. Judging by the trailer, the whole Superhero Registration Act is overshadowed by this stuff, and I think the SRA has more potential to be interesting and has more nuance to it as far as what could drive a wedge between them.

But isn't that how it is in the comics as well? If Red Skull turns out to be in it , and Crossbones is already in it, then wouldn't that explain everything, and wouldn't that make Bucky actually be manipulated? I don't know but under such circumstances we as viewers are more likely to see him as a victim than a villain, and honestly at this point it's kinda his theme, to be manipulated by someone...
Either way the plot is looking to be fairly simple and even predictable, but imo it's all about the execution. If done correctly this could be an enjoyable movie, no matter how much it can be cringe to see Captain go through all this trouble for Bucky, a "nutjob edgelord". :kappa

We'll have to wait and see. Right now all we can really do is guess. Which is too it's credit, at least in the way they cut the trailers. With Batman V Superman, I feel like we've already seen the movie(I'm still pissed off they showed Darkside).

That being said it can't be like the comics. At least, I don't think it can. For one thing Bucky is a superspy rather than a superhero. The same plot devices just can't work with him. They could do the brainwashing thing but I don't know if that would make him sympathetic enough, so I suspect he'll end up being innocent entirely. And they certainly can't end it the way the comic arc did.

They are not going the kill Captain America at the end and have Stark weeping over his body and admitting it wasn't worth it. That would be a billion dollar gamble that is just not going to happen.

Yep the Marvel trailer was better than the DC one, I don't even need to watch that movie. :derp
Yeah it would be repetitive. But hey you never know, it's a possibility I guess
That would be tragic, but also interesting to see them kill off one of their main characters.

He'd be back a half hour through the next movie anyway. Death is like the common cold for superheros Everybody gets it sooner or later and after a little while it just goes away.:XD

I just don't think they can make that move until they have another straight laced big name team leader set up to take his place. Specifically, I think they'd need Carol Danvers(preferably a non-alcoholic version).

I think it's more likely that they'd kill Stark off in this version if they were to go down that route. But I'm pretty sure both are on board for the next Avengers movie so I'm not sure how that would work.

Wow, the CGI looks a lot better than it did in the first footage we got of it...

I still think Garona looks pretty stupid, but this looks way better than it has any business being. Kudos to Duncan Jones, I guess.

Gotta say, I am not really convinced by the idea of a warcraft movie. I mean, in principle it's a good concept but it seems so easy to mess up... How big a thing even is warcraft nowadays? I know there have been a solid 67 expansions of WOW or something and they keep the same crapy graphics but isn't this 15 years after people started caring about the game? I get the feeling that the only reason mainstream media would even know warcraft is because of big bang theory...

I don't know, depends on what corner of "nerdery" you're a part of. It's still the largest and most popular MMO. It usually generates enough "buzz" whenever a new expansion comes out, but it isn't like a giant thing compared to MOBAs or other F2P games. Supposedly the movie had been in progress for a long time, but any success it might have can probably be lent to Hearthstone sort of popularizing the "brand" to a whole new audience as well. The Big Bang Theory and South Park stuff is kind of old at this point.

So yeah, Warcraft is still a "thing", but the buzz the movie is getting is mostly due to Duncan Jones being at the helm. Coincidentally, it also got a decent kick around Comic Con when footage was debuted because they moved the release to the Summer since it was originally going to open the same weekend as Star Wars did. A studio moving a release to the Summer is usually a sign that it has faith in it. Subsequent films could be even "bigger" since this portion of the WC story is from the first 2 RTS games, not even Reign of Chaos or The Frozen Throne...or WoW for that matter.

I'll be pretty shocked if the Warcraft movie does well. Either in terms of being good or getting people in theater seats to see it.

The fandom is still quite large, and there are obviously a huge number of lapsed players, so maybe they can capitalize on nostalgia a bit but to me it's like the all the other movies that came about because people got in a room, got stoned, and said "There should be a movie of this." and somehow convinced somebody they were right. Sometimes that works out but not usually. I look at it the same way I do the Assassins Creed movie. Best case I think it will turn out like the fantasy equivalent of the Hitman movies. Worst case... the D&D movies or the Dragon Ball movie.

Or this little gem..

Really need to remember to apologize to my parents for making them take me to that on opening night.:amuse
