After a day of fierce battles, Meowth and Cyndaquil saw themselves in an ugly situation. While gnut looked at the scene blank, g01 noticed that Pikachu was also in bad shape. Not only that, there was something odd in its trainer's pocket that called his attention. In a last effort, he commanded Cyndaquil to atack Pikachu.

Erinyes hoped her pokémon would endured it, but then digitaldude also instructed Torchic to join Cyndaquil's flames, combining the their firey power, and the eletric pokémon got knocked out. g01 wasn't wrong, Erinyes indeed had something with her: a King's Rock. All trainers knew what that meant: Erinyes and her pokémon were able to make others flinch, and it also had a red "R" stamped on it.

Erinyes was actually Ariana, disquised as a Kanto trainer, and infiltrated among the other ones like Prof. Oak suspected. In a burst of rage, TSPanda approached and gave the word so his Bulbasaur would used its vine again, on the Team Rocket member's tushie.

Surge and Erika were amazed. All the teams were doing a great job, and they all got tied again by the end of the day, due to both Gym Leaders deciding to award them when they took down Ariana:

All of the Pokémon rested and regained their HP and PP... except two of them, that got knocked out during the night. One of them was Absol, the only Pokémon with no evolution among them. Grysun carried his friend to the Pokémon Center, to heal its wounds, but sadly that meant that both of them won't be able to continue the journey.

Behind them, they left the item they were carrying... an Item finder! That meant they were researching all this time, trying to find out which of the trainers was carrying Rocket items!

But Absol wasn't the only one, Houndoom had been knocked out as well! And his trainer, Philia, had dropped an item, an Exp Share, that he could use to help his teammates... but who were those?

On the item, it was clearly written a name: Red. Wait, no, that can't be. Red, the trainer that I've trusted so much all these years?! I'm gonna have a private talk with him and Philia, to see what's wrong in their heads, but there is no way I'm letting them travel with the other trainers.

Okay, so Philia was a mentor which means that he is (was) a third party. Obviously, a mentor cannot kill someone without recruiting for a mentee. See role Mentor: Mentor: 'If the Mentor does not have a living Mentee, at Night he can recruit one. If the Mentor does have a living Mentee, at Night he or his Mentee can kill someone.' Which means that Philia could not kill GrySun and that GrySun prolly got killed by a mafia and someone with a night action killed Philia, I believe.
