We have a separate thread for House of the Dragon now, just in case people were going to watch
The Night's King supposedly was the 13th Lord Commander of the Night's Watch and supposedly could have been a Stark as well, yeah.
Maybe, if you think Bran will be at odds with The Others and not in league with them.![]()

xi0's D&D failure-in-logic analysis -
Castle Black - So the mutineers slay Jon Snow in the night and just go to bed, leaving his corpse there....WHAT? Who the fuck in the NW isn't aware of what happens to corpses. Jon Snow himself saved Jeor Mormont's life in the first season! HELLO?
The North - Theon emphasizes very deliberately that Sansa and him can't be caught by the Boltons and their hounds...yet the hounds completely disappear once the fighting breaks out?????? WHAT?
Dorne - I mean...if this is how they want to get rid of the Dorne storyline in the show uhh...okay. If you want to be a show apologist and say that it's obvious in the books that the Sand Snakes are put in positions to wreak havoc, fine. But the point is they were placed there BY DORAN MARTELL, or at least allowed to carry out what they're doing (like in Sarella=Alleras in Oldtown). But no, we're just going to let these stooges slay Areo FUCKING Hotah like a punk....what the fuck man? Where's my Fire and Blood dude? What a crime and waste of talent they made with Alexander Siddig....give me a fucking break man.
Oh, and how the hell did the two older Sand Snakes (who gives a shit what their names are really...) get on the boat with Trystane? There's no way they went undetected on a voyage that long....wtf
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---I guess the whole Dorne pigfuck might replace the unrest caused by Aegon and the Golden Company from the books....but it makes no fucking senseAlso, a 47 minute runtime....wtf is this, network TV?--- Double Post Merged, ---
Well...
Dorne was..fucked up man.Where are they going with that ? It is like, anything about dorne doesn't make sense.
And wow,Melisandre really is old(well it makes sense, she said that she spent years beyond count to become good magician or something).I want to say that I believe her necklace has nothing to do with her appearance(lot of people seems to believe that she looks young thanks to her necklace)

It kinda is though. The showrunners didn't go into details about why, since they already killed off Mance Rayder. He's the king of the wildlings if you remember. Basically the ruby in her nercklace allows her to put on a glamour, she had Mance Rayder use one of hers which allowed him to change his appearance into that of Rattleshirt, aka Lord of Bones. This guy

Thanks to this he was able to survive the burning. And the real Lord of Bones was burned in his place.
So yeah her ruby allows her to put a glamour on someone, and it is hinted she could do just that on herself. We have no idea how old she is either.--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---About Dorne. It is pretty apparent now that they had Ellaria take on Arianna's role, which doesn't make sense anymore since Myrcella is dead. In the books Arianna, the daughter of Doran, who is dead now ugh, plans on removing Tommen and having Myrcella become queen....all that so she herself can become queen instead of her brother.
And what's more interesting about the books, is that Doran himself decides to send the Sand snakes and infiltrate various places in Westeros including the Citadel(where the Maesters train) and King's landing. So he's definitely more scheming that this in the books. And then there's Aegon, whom they plan to have marry Arianna etc.
I would say things in Dorne are definitely more interesting in the books. Right now all it looks like is that Ellaria is seeking revenge, without so much as thinking about Dorne's future. Because if they kill Trystane, who will rule? Her? LOL. And fucking Areo Hotah got killed by a backstab.
Well it's just one of those things that are rather irksome. The new storyline is by no means better than the original, and it's so poorly acted too. I literally was cringing when I saw Dorne in the opening sequence. Hopefully they handle the Iron islands better than this.
Well in the books it was the case but I believe she doesn't need ruby in the show.It likely that she is very old and as you said she is using her magic to change her appearance.But if it is thanks to ruby then there is this ;

Completely agreed about dorne.Btw didn't they plan to have marry arianna with viserys ?
If you're going to take the show at face value then you can prepare yourself to be disappointed. In the books Mel doesn't sleep.
She stays awake all night, because according to her sleep is a little death and the Other can invade your mind.
So that too is different from the books.
And if you have noticed, her ruby glows, like it did when she drank the cup in Season 2 that had the strangler in it(poison). So the ruby is magical.
Yes originally, but that didn't happen so now it's Aegon.
think about davos entering the room and saw her like that lol) just saying that ruby alone is not enough and most likely it helps her maintain her powers. Well yeah (btw her way of sleeping make me laugh for some reasonthink about davos entering the room and saw her like that lol) just saying that ruby alone is not enough and most likely it helps her maintain her powers.
Did they mention it in the books ? Last think I remember is arianna went to meet him and see if he really is her cousin.

You could argue that she lost all faith and therefore gave up and accepted the little death since the Other has apparently won.If you're going to take the show at face value then you can prepare yourself to be disappointed. In the books Mel doesn't sleep.

I don't think she gave up, her confidence was shaken up for sure, and she's starting to doubt herself, but she could still do something. You could argue that she lost all faith and therefore gave up and accepted the little death since the Other has apparently won.
A little thing to note, the ruby lit up before she took it off so maybe she deactivated the glamour and it's not just wether she wears the ruby or not but also about keeping the glamour up.
I don't think she gave up, her confidence was shaken up for sure, and she's starting to doubt herself, but she could still do something.
I don't know, seeing her like that isn't reassuring, but at the same time it's interesting in terms of character development. If she pulls herself together we might still see her do something. I doubt this is the end of it.
Yeah which proves it's "magic".
Jaime confuses me, I love his arcs in the books but on the show he seems go back to where he started which makes it less probable for him to be the prophesized Valonquar.[/SPOILER]
Pretty sure there's some inconsistencies with the rubies even in the books though. Mance Rayder wears a ruby around his wrist while he's glamoured as Rattleshirt, but I don't really recall there being mention of one on the person of Rattleshirt while he was glamoured as Mance and burned alive. I don't recall a mention of one when Mance poses as Abel either. Perhaps he wasn't glamoured then, but if there was no magic involved, it doesn't really explain what the Pink Letter says about him being captured. After all, if no one at Winterfell could know what Mance looks like and no glamour is needed for him to pose as a travelling bard, how could he be found out? (I guess this brings up more support for the Pink Letter not being written by Ramsey, but I digress). And then there's the whole issue of whatever magic she uses on Lightbringer, Stannis' sword, to give it it's magical appearance. No rubies involved there either, as far as I know. Maybe it's as simple as the presence of a ruby making her magic more powerful, but that's sort of iffy to me as well, since I remember Jon being able to sometimes see through Mance's glamour for a split-second here or there. Maybe glamours become stronger the longer they're held?So in the books the ruby like the one in her necklace allows her to put on a glamour, she had Mance Rayder use one of hers which allowed him to change his appearance into that of Rattleshirt, aka Lord of Bones.

I seem to recall from the trailer her having a conversation with Davos about Stannis. Was it from last season? Can't remember exactly.Imo she is confused because her "azor ahai"(stannis) died and jon snow dead too(she said she saw him in the flames).
In that scene it looks like she wanted to see herself like that. She undressed across the mirror and then wach herself for a while. It was like she changed her appearance because she feels like she failed.
