Sorry, but that's a new level of reaching, lmao. Your panel of Erza complimenting Lily can't be compared to
@Selly 's manga panels, since Erza practically stated outright that Freed had explicit S-class potential.
Your panels just have Erza complimenting Lily's swordsmanship and is not indicative nor implying of any S-class qualifications. You can't use that for your defense, lmao.
Why do you use this a lot? But then, i digress...
Again, you're twisting my words. Show me a quote in which I said Pantherlily is qualified for S-Class. Obviously not. The point of that panel was not to say that Pantherlily was S-Class level. It was to show that character statements don't really have any meaning if not proven
with feats. Erza made a remark on Pantherlily's skills but is he that strong? Not really. Erza can praise him in combat, but I would label him as any average, decent mage. If Freed showed power on the level of someone like Laxus, then yes, I would agree he is S-Class material. So far, his fights are disappointing though. I ask you not to twist my words a lot because you clearly aren't reading your own post. In other words, you unknowingly try to change the meaning of my post to make it look like I hate that character.
Do you actually think that Laxus is still some douche who doesn't give a rat's ass about his comrades, despite numerous chapters of character development that contradicts such?
Again, you are misreading the panels and the chronological events. In that very page you posted, you mentioned that Laxus blew up when Freed let go of the runes.
Thing is - you're misconstruing Laxus's reaction. Of course, Laxus would be alarmed that the runes disappeared - the entire point was to protect Magnolia and consequently, Fairy Heart.
What you selectively ignored were the next panels. You see, Laxus has no idea what was happening there, since he's at HQ. He doesn't have any idea that Freed is about to get roasted (which was understandably the reason why Freed temporarily let go). Of course, Laxus's knee-jerk reaction was to have Freed maintain the runes, since it's Freed's duty to provide such a defense.
If Laxus knew about Freed's real condition of being about to meet his demise, would you think that Laxus would still have Freed stay?
Of course, not. You'll see that in the next panels. Laxus then asks "what the hell is your status?" Cause, you know, Laxus finally realizes something's amiss and there's something urgently wrong that made Freed drop the runes. That's why Laxus immediately offered back-up.
If anything, those panels prove Laxus's intelligence and intuition were up to par since he deduced something was wrong.
This is what I mean. When did I hint or refer to Laxus as such names? You're using the points I make to make me look like the aggressor here. All I said was that Laxus jumped the gun when he yelled into Warren's ear to try and stop Freed from dispelling his runes. Nothing about that is a lie. A person who is somewhat logical would ask "What is your condition/status over there? Why is the shield disappearing?". You may say that I am misinterpreting the panels, but I don't see how my point here is wrong. Laxus just didn't quite get it.
Exactly, that is my point. Laxus was at Fairy Tail's Guild Hall and had no idea what was happening. So why did he need to come up with conclusions about Freed when he knows nothing about it? Yes, Laxus had a reaction that everyone would to a certain degree, but it could have been more sensible and understanding than illogically blowing up. I'm not saying that Laxus should have let Freed die, that is missing the point of my post. None of these panels would prove Laxus' intelligence because it wasn't intuition that caused him to react like you claim, it was pure sight and sensing. Laxus saw the shield being dispelled and he could sense something was wrong. Nothing smart about that. I would just call it impulse. Now if Laxus saw the shield disappearing, didn't understand why, and did nothing about it, then that would actually be used against him in terms of intelligence.
Goddammit this is getting so ridicoulous. Just accept the fact that Freed IS S-Class level, has been FROM THE START.
This panel IS different. Erza told Freed directly that he has the skill AND could handle S-rank missions. Here she simply acknowledges Pantherlily's skills.
I really have the feeling you are ignoring everything I state and prove on purpose. I never said that Freed won or would have won against Mirajane. I said that he managed a take down on her during the hand-to-hand combat part in mid-air, proving his expert hand-to-hand combat skills in his demonic mode. And you say don't compare because they are different? Lmfao then we couldn't compare ANYONE.
Don't drag Levy into this now and degrade her. She may not be the strongest concerning strength or magic but she has the intelligence and wit. Apparently she COULD have gained the S-Class title, otherwise she would not have been chosen for the trial. No, I don't see her as a typical candidate either but it's a fact that Makarov chose her for the trials. Period.
You are the one constantly twisting my words. I proved how much magical power Freed has and it must be an enormous amount. He has the power, he has the skill, he has the versatility and intelligence. He is one hell of a dangerous opponent if he would get serious, something I still hope Mashima will give him the chance too again, and that's that.
Why do I have to accept Freed as S-Class level? It is my opinion. You have your own. Freed has shown nothing on the level of an S-Class. Just because Ur was named Wizard Saint Level, doesn't mean she is. Just because Erza was told that she has powers similar to that of a Wizard Saint, doesn't mean she is. Just because Laxus and Mystogan were called Fairy Tail's Strongest Mage, doesn't mean they are. You get my point?
I can choose what I want to ignore. It doesn't mean I don't read your post. I just choose not to mention it because it doesn't seem like we're on the same page at all. When I said that you cannot compare Freed and Mirajane because they are different, I am talking about their power levels. Freed is no match for Mirajane whatsoever. It doesn't matter whether he lasted for 1 minute against her or not. In the end, he lost.
I don't hate on any character
including Levy. This means I would never try to degrade her or drag her into this. In fact, I was simply replying to another user who used her as an example. Sure, Levy is a minor character, but how would I benefit by trying to bash her? I wouldn't so that is why I don't do that. But just to reply to your post, I am very confident that Levy wouldn't have been S-Class even if the promotion trials continued on. The reason why Master Makarov picked her was because he needed more candidates and that she was the next one in line.
Wait, so your using
temper as a reason why Laxus can't think straight. Wow. Just wow...

I guess this means that Erza and Makarov can never think straight because of their tempers, right?
Laxus wasn't upset at Freed in the panels you showed. He was on edge because of the situation they were in. In Laxus's head he wanted Freed to continue using his runes to protect the West while he rushes over there and covers for Freed by taking care of Wahl. There's nothing wrong with that thinking at all. Him being a little on edge doesn't show that he can't think straight. Try again with a better example.
Also, you keep ignoring the example I'm giving you that clearly shows that Laxus can think straight. Laxus was able to stop Wahl's attack (etherion) and cure himself at the same time while in a fatal position. Not only was he thinking straight, he was also thinking ahead. If you keep ignoring this example then I won't continue this debate.
No, Erza and Makarov are very self-composed mages. Now you're just twisting what happened so that it benefits you. Being on edge most definitely implies that you're not thinking straight. One who gets worked up over things most likely has their mind running crazy which is pretty much not thinking straight. Sure, go ahead and use the same example you keep using to prove Laxus is intelligent, but I already discussed that. All I'm saying is that Laxus is not intelligent like you're painting him to be.
