I'm not buying that explanation because it's simply impossible.
Bungee gum acts on forces: push and pull. The only thing except from this is its ability to stick which can pull things assuming the thing/object is generating a force that will eventually be opposed by the elasticity of the gum.
Even the panel you provided me, Hisoka connected the head which only moved towards Chrollo because he pulled it towards him while falling.
Simply put, Bungee gum can be summarized into this: there's no action without a reaction, no effect without a cause.
A heart is squeezed to pump, Bungee gum does not squeeze or expand itself or animate itself in other words. No effect from Bungee gum, without a cause.
You agreed with me before that hisoka can change the stretchiness of bungee gum. If he couldnt, all the things he does would be impossible.
So why shouldnt he be able to do that with bungee gum treads emitted from his hands onto his chest?
You're completely forgetting about "nen becomes stronger after death" concept. Remember when Neferpitou was killed by Gon? Immediately following Pitou's death, her Nen took over her body and acted on its own. The time frame from Pitou's nen activation following her death wasn't that long. From this statement, we can also assume Hisoka wasn't "dead" for too long for those arguing he was "dead" for hours. Not true. For Pitou to be dead and moving is also "impossible" because a dead body cannot move. So why did it move and cut off Gon's arm? Because Pitou had a strong "DESIRE" AND "EMOTION" to protect Meruem from any potential threats so her Aura or Nen took on her desire and acted according to her will even after she died. Pitou didn't neccessarily "hated" Gon, but her strong emotional loyalty to her king was enough to activate it. Even in the past, Phinks told Gon and Killua that nen can be strengthened after death due to strong feelings. That's why Phantom troops were afraid to kill Kurapika, because they were afraid Kurapika's "hatred" would kill Chrollo while the judgement chain was still on his heart. So hatred, loyalty, desire, any strong emotion will and can be activated upon death. Therefore, the properties of nen takes on the desire of their owner. So, since Hisoka is such a sly little slippery fellow he is. He was able to exploit this loophole. And since Hisoka is such a complex, weirdo we don't even know what type of emotion he felt before he died. Maybe he expressed extreme desire of love? He did say "caress" his heart and lungs. Maybe his nen was humping his organs lol. I don't know. But we know he did "try something." Which involved his nen acting out on Hisoka's desire right before he died in which his own nen helped him with CPR before he was dead for too long. Shalrnark and Kortopi were very loyal to Chrollo so maybe their nen will get stronger after death thus making Chrollo stronger as well? Who knows. I think Hisoka is the only character that can pull this type of thing off because his nen can contract and expand. So his bungee gum doesn't need anything like potential energy or a reaction because it simply acts on its own. Just understand: [Death + Strong emotion = Nen acting on owner's desire]
Pitou's ability actually has the ability to move, so when it came back stronger, it wasn't doing anything new.
Hisoka's Bungee gum was never animated in the first place like Terpischora, Pitou's nen. For it to animate his hand/heart/lungs by itself is anew function. All Bungee gum does is act on potential, not animate.
In fact, Pitou's nen only returned to protect the king and she was still dead nonetheless. Hisoka is alive, he's just gained a power boost at no expense. It's foul-play in a sense, he's been given an unwarranted power boost with no repercussions.

I don't recall, I'm certain I've only ever said it acts against forces and nothing more. Bungee gum only stretches when pulled, and only pulls when stretched, it doesn't animate itself either way, it requires manipulation by a user in order to have any function.

What you claim is that bungee gum is basically completely static like a normal rubber band once it is emitted, but this is upported by nothing we have seen . Vice versa:
Hisoka for example said he had a tread towards the ceiling on his blown up finger just in case.
How can it be, if hisoka cannot decide when the gum contracts, that he had a tread towards the ceiling for some time from his finger without actually being hindered in his movements or actually being pulled up?
It can't. He can do what he did in the panel i showed you: He can decide when the gum contracts. Only like that it makes sense.
elseways he wouldnt say thing slike 'may contract', because the gum would do it by itself. He it very clear to me that he can decide the property of the gum in so far that, once emitted, he can decide its stretchiness.
Without that, a lot of the things he did would not be possible, for example the dormant tread to the ceiling.
It would either have been so lax that it hit the ground or so tight that it hindered his movements.

It is completely static until a force is acted upon it. Fact remains it simply doesn't move on its own accord. Deciding it's stretchiness doesn't mean it's animating itself.

I see what's you're saying. You believe the nen's ability is limited by it's characteristics. That's a very reasonable assumption since Nen becomes stronger after death concept is still such a grey area we don't know much about yet. You said Pitou's Terpischora has the ability to move. But from what I remember that technique is only a buffer. It only makes Pitou stronger, faster, and more flexible. Doesn't really "move" her. Had she used Puppeteering, then maybe...JUST maybe I'd be willing to lean towards thinking that way. Kurapica's chains also doesn't move on its own, yet Phrinks was afraid the nen would seek out the desire of its owner. I think of nen after death as a "spirit" that will act on its own. Hisoka is alive, but he did technically "die" for a moment which allowed that nen to take on the desire of its owner to move on its own. And as far from what I know, EVERY nen requires "initial" manipulation by its user to have ANY function. So dying shouldn't allow any nen to do anything. But in Hunterverse, it's a different story.
After rereading it now with some distance, i must say that it got into my favourite scenes of the manga.
I mean, the whole fight itself was great already, with chrollo dominating and hisoka still showing that he WILL take every single chance you give him.
A big trait of Hisoka is that he defies all odds by tricking his enemies.
He tricked Kastro when, logically, noone would have thought that hisoka could win without arms.
He tricked razor, when logically, it was clear that hisoka could not win a match of endurance against him.
And he tricked the spiders, when they could be reasonably sure that he was dead.
This fight was hisoka's sharktank trick.
A lot of people (including me) got initially upset about how farfetched hisoka's plan was.
He could not know whether he could pull 'nen staying behind' off, he could not know the timeframe on which he would ressurect (so possibly CPR starting while he still could not breath under the coprses), he could not know whether he'd muster up enough nen (even with other corpses mitigating the blast) to block enough of the explosion. He could not know whether his brain would take lasting damage. He could also not know whether the spiders will notice anything before he fully resurected. Or whether machi would break her promise and they'd simply cut his head off.
But the beauty of it is that he tried it anyway, knowing full well that it is very unprobable it would work.
Now, i know the argument: He didnt bet on himself because he nothing to lose at that point.
But: Most people, even when, logically, they know they have no way to win anymore, would not do such a thing.
Exspecially not in a confused and partially scared state of mind hisoka was in.
Most people, even experienced fighters, would have tried to get past the corpses somehow, or desperately fought back, or concentrated everything they have on just defending against the blast while knowing well that wont be enough.
In situations like that, you go with what feels best, not what is most logical, you wont even think what is logical.
Noone except woulda run with 'let's take the finitely small offchance' instead of doing what feels best in such a situation.
At least we saw noone else in the series do or think about such a thing, even in hopeless situations (admittedly tho, hisoka could cpr himself due to the bungee gum ability, other people might not be able to do it even if their nen stays behind).
The most bonkers part is that hisoka has probably thought about doing that before. It seemed like it was something he planned on trying if he ever got into a situation like that, instantly bringing his hands into the required position.
That tells us a lot about how insane hisoka actually is. And in that case, it is not his strength, only partially his talent but absolutely his insanity that is rewarded. Even the spider who knew about nen staying behind didnt even think about this being a possibility because it was so far fetched that only hisoka could think about and try it.

It's the fact that all it takes is for someone to leave a voice message to their Nen, die, and then get stronger without any downside or limitation.
Terpishoura stayed alive until Gon was dead or it was defeated (not something she consciously controlled).
Gon used up all of his potential and lost his Nen (limited power).
Hisoka just got stronger, no limitation, just a boost to strength while all his critical faculties were still intact, this was unwarranted and unprecedented. Couple of the Spiders just died, why didn't they just get stronger Nen to gain revenge while unconscious like Pitou? were their desires any less vehement? I see this as bad writing because it was a forcefully contrived power-up.

I don't think Hisoka got stronger, at least there is no evidence for that.
Nen can get stronger if the user dies, yes, but only the nen that stayed behind.
When hisoka died, the bungee gum treads he had on his hands and the nen left inside his body got stronger and ressurected him.
And i'd suppose that that's it.
He didnt get a free power up.
It's not like anyone can just pull a Goku card.
To pull off this trick on purpose, you need a lot of talent and knowledge in nen usage.
Hisoka is one of the highest level nen users we know, so this would exclude a lot of other characters.
You also need either a very strong conviction or, as i said, the intent to do that.
While it seems not uncommon that people pull this of if they are driven by revenge (after all, the spider didnt wanna risk killing kurapika before chrollo's nenchain got removed. So it is not just a myth that it happens sometimes, but seems to happen on a significant number of incidents), pulling this off on purpose is much harder.
You have to have a clear mind in the moment of your death to contemplate and issue a command instead of trying to defend yourself.
That is something which happens very rarely. Either you have people like kastro who get afraid before their death and don't think clearly, or you got deaths which are so quickly that there is absolutely no time.
You need to be as talented and also as crazy as hisoka to give this offchance a shot instead of doing what your body tells you (namely doing everything you can to defend yourself from the chrollo copies, in our case).
Also, CPRing yourself only becomes possible if you have a fitting nen property. Hisoka used his gum for CPR. Someone like the sun and moon guy could not do the same with his nen staying behind.
It also seemed like hisoka planned to use this trick if he ever is close to death, because he instantly went for it when he was sure there was no other option left.
He might have even trained the CPRing and checked whether it worked. It is nothing a normal person in the HxH verse would do.
The spiders hisoka killed died on surprise and weren't even ready to fight.
Even if they had hisoka's talent, they neither had the necessary nenproperties for this trick nor the state of mind.
You said it urself: Noone did that so far. Because noone besides hisoka is crazy enough to actively try such a thing.
A lot of nenusers don't even know about nen staying behind, and only the best nen users would even think about trying it on purpose.
Ging seems like a guy who could and would do a similar thing. But besides that?
I don't think Hisoka got stronger, at least there is no evidence for that.

He didnt get a free power up.
He did get stronger, it is his power. Beat around the bush, it is essentially a free power-up.
Pitou and Gon didn't exactly retain their power, they had to sacrifice something and only had this power for a brief period, what has Hisoka sacrificed? Nothing in the scheme of things, nonetheless, he's gained a power and resurrected himself too which is bad writing and contrived; there is no context to rationalise this, there's only acceptance because it was simply absurd and unprecedented.
You know it''s forced and somewhat nonsensical when you can't predict resurrections and power despite everything known about Nen for what, 350+ chapters? At best, people were expecting Hisoka would have a trick up his sleeve prior to this chapter, or a last resort move, but he had none, simply died and was resurrected stronger than he previously was, and with no pay-out to counter-act this boost of power, there is usually always a consequence to this sort of thing.
Knowledge in Nen usage? When he just on a whim wished he'd simply get stronger and be revived on death? Doesn't sound like knowledge to me. Literally a whimsical request to be stronger and there.

In pitous case, he was dead, in gon's case, it had nothing to do with nen staying behind.
If pitou had done a similar thing, for example having dr blythe restore her after her death and making it thorugh due to that, it woulda been the same thing and it would not have meant a power up.
Hisoka did not gain power. He used a thing which he knew existed to ressurect himself, and that's it.
Also, everything is unprecedented until it happens. Hisoka used nothing that was not already mentioned in the manga.

But you can. We could not predict hisoka doing that because noone thought about it. But you coulda come to the conclusion that this is what he tries. The reason people didnt is because it was such an off chance. everything had to go perfectly in order for it to have a good outcome for hisoka, and hisoka knew it. Hence he only used it as a last ditch effort.
And as i said: Hisoka did NOT ressurect stronger, or at least there is no reason to think so.
The thing that got stronger was the nen inside his body in the moment of his death, enabling the weak nen of a dying man to get strong enough to ressurect him.
After that, hisoka didnt gain any power up.
It was a temporary thing about the nentreads at his fingertips and arround his heart.
In which way did he get stronger?
There is absolutely no evidence that hisoka did anything after his death that he could not do before.
In pitous case, he was dead, in gon's case, it had nothing to do with nen staying behind.

I am not making up excuses, i merely go by what the manga tells us. And it didnt tell us 'hisoka's nen got stronger because he ressurected'.
'nen getting stronger after death' or 'nen staying behind' is a phrase used to describe a nenability whose leftovers get stronger after the user died.
That applies to terpsichora, and it applies to sun and moon, and the spiders assumed it might apply to kurapika's nenchain, too, if he died.
In hisokas case, the nen left over which to stronger was the one he applied to his fingertips and which he told to activate once he is dead.
And that's it. Those treads are gone now, and hisoka is back to what he was before.
He used abilities which he had not shown before after he ressurected, yes, but that is not something new for hisoka.
Before the dodgeball match, noone knew hisoka could make things sticky.
Hisoka is a genius at using nen, he can make new abilities arround his gumnen on the fly if he needs to.
The manga even said that texture surprise could be used on many more things than just cloth.
Aside from that, we have even seen many less talented nenusers than hisoka change abilities so that they suited a situation or simply made up how they can use basic things like emission, enhancement or transmution to form a hatsu.
There is no reason to think that Hisoka can't do that.
He used abilities which he had not shown before after he ressurected, yes, but that is not something new for hisoka.
Before the dodgeball match, noone knew hisoka could make things sticky.
Whenever he uses texture surprises, he uses a cloth or sheath.
He created fingers and a leg with his Bungee gum, something we've never seen before.
Make things sticky? That's a given, it's gum, it's supposed to make things sticky.
Nen is his, so it did make him stronger no matter how you want to coat it.
For Nen to naturally get stronger, the user needs to train, it's not independent of the user, but a part of the user.
You're not merely stating what Manga says, but distorting it.
Back to what he was before? Not at all. We're explicitly told it got stronger; to say otherwise is a fallacy.
To say all these feats are simply coincidence after we're told his Nen got stronger is false. When you find official statement from the Manga or Togashi that it's something he's always done, what you say may have truth to it, until then, it simply isn't true, but made up.
Yes, we have not seen him forming body parts out of bungee gum before. Similarly, we have not seen him being able to making objects sticky even when they are not attached to his body before the dodgeball match. Nenusers using their nen in differentiations is not new. Other nenusers did that, too.
If you say that is a given, well, then i say rubber can be used to form body parts, that is a given 0.o
It did not make him stronger in any way that he was not capable of before.
That is like saying kurapika got 'stronger' when he thought out his abilities, or youpi got stronger when he learned more about how to use his abilities.
They didn't get stronger. They used what was already inside them in a new way.
Hisoka never lost a limb for good before. He never had any reason to use this ability or even think about trying it.
It is basically wasting a lot of nen and concentration to keep up conceiling your wounds and keeping the bungee gum alive.
If anything, he got weaker, at least when it comes to his traditional bungee gum usage and physical abilities.
This is probably even the reason why he used something else on shalnark than his usual tricks, because he knows he has to change up a lot about his fighting style if he keeps on bothering to waste nen.
I am not distorting anything. Hisokas nen DID NOT GET STRONGER PER SE.
The bungee treads he emitted before he died got stronger and that's it.
For a user to come up with a variation of his nen ability, he does not always need to train if he is very talented.
We saw ging doing it, we saw gon and killuah doing it, we saw youpi doing it and we also saw pitou doing it.
Talented people can pick up things they wanna do on the fly.
On greed island, killuah and gon had no problem using emission nen from their feet to jump very high even if it takes normal people a lot of training.
And with hisoka being implied to be one of the most talented people arround, him variating his nenability by circumstance is really nothing out there.
As i said, he did it on greed island too, whether you want to call that 'a given' or not.
And we are NOT told that hisoka's nen per se got stronger. We are told that hisoka used 'nen getting stronger' which is another term for 'nenstaying behind'.
It has literally nothing to do with his nen capacity or ability getting stronger.
It does not even make sense? Why would machi think that? Noone ever ressurected after their death with such a nentrick. She never mentioned hisoka getting stronger, she even asked him whether he learned his lesson. She just wondered how it could be that he emits nen, and this is due to nen staying behind, which is seperate in fact from the body itself, since the body is, at least for some time, dead.
To say all these feats are simply coincidence after we're told his Nen got stronger is false. When you find official statement from the Manga or Togashi that it's something he's always done, what you say may have truth to it, until then, it simply isn't true, but made up.
Togashi discusses with kishimoto about how to make abilities convincing and avoid plotholes.
He then says that with hisoka, he is usually sure that he will turn out fine because his ability is very versatile.
Togashi then said that in the latest arc, he first decided that hisoka was going to lose the match when he was sure that with the rubber and gum ability, he could convincingly pull of the ressurection.
He then again puts emphasis on that he finds it important that everything makes sense with the given abilities.
Hisoka even himself, whe he reconstructed, said nothing about it. He simply said he uses bungee gum and texture surprise and its not a big deal to him.
There is no doubting in him that he can pull of such a thing, no 'OH, NEW POWERS'.
He simply does it, like everything he did so far.
And we are NOT told that hisoka's nen per se got stronger. We are told that hisoka used 'nen getting stronger' which is another term for 'nenstaying behind'.
It has literally nothing to do with his nen capacity or ability getting stronger.
No such thing as Nen staying behind as the meaning of Nen getting stronger; it's either it remains, or it remains and gets stronger and Machi said the latter.
It does get stronger as was said.
It's known that Nen becomes stronger on death, and Hisoka's did. It was stated he was dead whatever that means in HxH now, and explicitly stated his Nen became stronger.
What you're saying is simply downplaying what occurred to rationalise that this isn't a plot-hole for whatever reason, but it evidently is.
Gaining powers come at a price, and Hisoka paid nothing, but simply attained it.
No such thing as Nen staying behind as the meaning of Nen getting stronger; it's either it remains, or it remains and gets stronger and Machi said the latter.
No. That is just not what it is. Nen staying behind and nen getting stronger is the same, just translated/formulated differently.
Nen that stays behind is stronger than it initially was when it got casted.
That is why the spider were afraid to kill kurapika because his nenchain might get stronger.
It does not mean anything else than a statement about a CASTED nen whose user died.
And that is what happened here.
Hisoka casted bungee gum to CPR him, but since he was dying, it usually would not have been strong enough to do that.
Since nen staying behind tho, it started acting, stronger it would usually have been.
That is what happened, and that is what machi noticed.
There is absolutely no indication or information or even halfway interpretable statement about hisoka getting stronger as a person or as a nenuser.

The nen hisoka has casted got stronger. yes. But not hisoka as a person, and machi did not say that.
Machi used a term which refers to a casted nenability getting stronger after a users death.
She said nothing about hisoka . Initially she did not even know hisoka was still alive and just thought it would be some nentreads he casted.
She never said HIS nen, as in a general statement, became stronger.
She wondered what was going on and then thought 'OH, that must be nen staying behind (which is the same phrase as nen getting stronger after death. It is used equivalently in HxH).
And i am not excusing any plothole.
Even if Hisoka WAS to be stronger, it would not be a plothole.
I am simply telling you that this is not the case.
This is argument out of convenience. I see no truth to what you're saying as you're unable to defend with evidence from the Manga. His Nen nonetheless is Gum, doesn't make it Rubber. No one disputed building things out of rubber (can do the same with almost anything), but that isn't a property, that's a feat he's never pulled off until now.
You can convince yourself with that story, but it simply isn't credible. The Manga says Nen can get stronger and it says Nen does get stronger in Hisoka's case. It is his power, therefore, he is stronger. Sugar coat it all you want. Right after this, he does thing she's normally only able to do with a cloth, your argument just isn't convincing.
If Hisoka had at least used a cloth with texture surprise, there might be some credibility to what you're saying, but there isn't, his skill got elevated; it seems you're simply trying to defend HxH (Togashi).

He is not stronger. It happens only when you are dead, in the pic you showed, Hisoka is dead. He gave clear commands, he died, his Nen intensified and did what Hisoka commanded. After this, Hisoka's vital functions became normal and the CPR stopped, why would he be strengthened when he is alive? He is not a zombie or a corpse, he used CPR with his Nen for a moment. I am pretty sure that I posted something about Aura Transmutation before. Texture Surprise is Conjuration and a cloth is not necessary, he can use it on any kind of thin surfaces and in the previous case(when he fought Kastro), he was trying to hide Machi's threads, this case is different, he shaped his Aura into an arm, used the rubber property of Bungee Gum then coated it with Texture Surprise(which is his own Aura), creating a rubber arm with his texture reproducing human skin. Although it's not real human skin, the fake skin he created is real because it's a conjured one. He had no clothes when he used it to hide the names of the Spiders in Greed Island as well.
As you can see, it's a mix of both Transmutation and Conjuration. Shape Transmutation is the most basic training method for a Transmuter. And he shaped his aura into a spade and skull in the HA arc.
How would he even know the new abilities of his powered up Nen abilities on the first try?

So it is not evidence from the manga when hisoka literally says 'my nen has properties of rubber and gum'?
You then say 'whatever, it is still just gum'?
That makes no sense.
Of course his nen has rubber properties. As i said: It was also a feat he never pulled off so far when he made the ball from the dodgeball game sticky.
If that is obvious because his nen is gummy, then now he can make himself rubberlimbs because his nen is...'rubby'.
The manga did not say hisoka's nen got stronger. As i said, 'nengetting stronger' and 'nenstayingbehind' are equivalent phrases which are used to describe a casted ability getting stronger after its user died. Not that the user gets stronger.
The manga does not say that and machi does not, either.
There is not even a way machi would know that, because she didnt know at this point that hisoka was still alive.
The reason hisoka, so far, used scarfs or cards or paper to use texture surprise, was that you can see it with gyo.
In the fight against kastro, it is explicitly said that hisoka used this to camouflage the emanations of nen from his body.
His trick was about breaking kastro psychologically. if Kastro knew what was up, he would not have been as shocked. This is why hisoka included other objects here.
Putting a nenability onto his nen would be the exact opposite, it would have drawn kastro's attention to it.
At no point does it say that hisoka could not have done this without paper.
