Ok first of all, no she did not jump several times, the multiple images of her were just to show her movement. How the hell do you expect her to jump without hitting solid ground?

And secondly, you can clearly see in that panel that there's no crater underneath Irene when she jumps.

By using the debris... That's how you jump... Or she could have just made 1 very big leap backwards...

That would make a lot more sense than Irene breathing in Acno's face.

You see smoke in front of Irene when she jumps right? What does the smoke mean?

Oh right... smoke is used to signify where the blast took place and where the crater should be...

The lines in front of the lines meant that there was stuff happening in front of Irene.
Irene didn't take several jumps. She did a backflip, and that was what was shown. She didn't jump particularly high either.

How do you not get this? If Irene jumped backwards that meant she would have been jumping INTO the explosion. It would have been harder to clear the crater, and she would literally be trying to jump through the explosion. She certainly didn't jump high enough to go over the explosion. Look at these two images. Which one seems to be more practical to do if you were Irene and wanted to get away from the explosion?

For the first part, I don't care how she jumped to be honest with you. Go ahead and try to figure that out.

If it makes you happy, then she took one long ass leap backward... not high... but a far leap...

As for the second part... the ground doesn't give out during the explosion...

The ground starts to break and fall apart while the explosion is subsiding...

That means, but the time the explosion is done, Irene has enough time to leap backwards before the ground beneath her foot becomes a crater...

Have you never seen an action movie or how explosions work?

As for your images, I don't get your point...

Irene is a Spriggan, she can leap really far, so the distance between the two circles don't really make much of a difference for her.

As long as she is not leaping forwards towards Acnologia, effort is not a problem here.

You guys act like Irene can only jump 3 feet backwards...

Look at Irene's trajectory when she jumps and then look at the size of the crater. There's no way in hell that Irene was in front of the explosion and was able to clear the whole thing in such a small and low jump.

Irene is a Spriggan 12... a high-tier one too... what do you mean she can't make a far low jump.

Plus, Irene can float in the air. She was "flying" when she came to meet Acnologia, so she can levitate in mid-air.

She obviously jumped backwards and she obviously was in front of the explosion when it happened.

Mashima clearly drew this for you...
You can literally see the position just from looking at the drawings...

Yes you can see the position from the drawings, and what you see is that based on Irene's trajectory that MASHIMA DREW, Irene's starting position was barely off panel. So taking into account the size of the crater there's no way in hell she cleared it with the trajectory that MASHIMA DREW.

Mashima is not gonna waste a whole panel showing Irene's full jump... That's ridiculous..

He assumed you could tell by the explosion behind Irene and the smoke in front of her after she jumped backwards.

That one panel of Irene jumping was not her full jump... it was the end of her jump when she was about to land.

Did you really think that was her full jump?

Notice that she was already in mid air when that panel took place.

I'm going to repeat myself for the third time. Look at her trajectory. You can clearly see the path she took, it's literally outlined for you.

Also, one more thing. If Irene is in front of the explosion, then where is she?

Irene was in front of the explosion.

How can your first drawing be right?

She was not right in the middle otherwise she would be completely covered.

I literally have the scans to prove that the explosion was behind and not all around her.

She did not get hit by the explosion.

It was NOT the FULL path.

Use some imagination. That's the problem with going by panels all the time.

You begin to lose your sense of realistic movements and animation.

The explosion was so large (the panel was zoomed out) and she was so far away. Obviously you can't see her.

She is likely behind one of the flying rocks/broken ground.

Did you even look? The trajectory outlined clearly shows a parabolic pathway of motion. If this was really the end of her jump the trajectory outlined would start near the top and go down.

Irene can float/levitate in mid air. Gravity isn't necessarily pulling her down. Irene can fly.

The panel clearly showed she was already in the middle of her leap, not the beginning, so it made sense she was near the ground by that time.

The parabolic motion is just her flip, her actual leap can be low, but far because she can fly and hover in mid air.

So are you suggesting that Irene just flew out of the way and she's just flipping around in midair for fun? Are you suggesting that every time she flips she just springs up randomly like a bunny rabbit?

So not only did Irene jump into the very attack she was trying to avoid, but now she was hovering in a wave pattern? Come on now.

The scans show that stuff was going on in front of Irene. Just because we can still see Irene, doesn't mean she wasn't at the epicenter. The fact that she we can still see her simply means the eruption hadn't reach full force yet. We only saw the beginning of the attack, which was a shot zoomed in at Irene. When we saw the full attack zoomed out, Irene was indeed not visible.
Irene wasn't hit by the explosion because she got out of the way.

She can half-leap and half-levitate in mid air, yeah.

In the panel we see of her leaping, she is basically descending while flipping, but she likely gave herself a little boost of height at the beginning of her jump by flying.

Don't see why she can't do that.

Not to mention the fact that Irene is looking DOWN in that panel, which wouldn't make any sense in the slightest if the explosion was actually behind her.

But that doesn't make any sense. Why even bother flipping? Why not just keep flying the whole time?

That blast was already way larger than her. The entire background is covered in the blast... It's pretty clear the center of the explosion was behind her and that she was in front.

The rays from the blast simply show the eruption of the ground, but it in no way covered her.

The majority of the blast was still behind her because that's how Mashima drew it. He did it that way so you can tell where the eruption should be.

She didn't jump immediately... the ground was still holding on in the middle of the explosion.

She sure as hell didn't jump forwards and she was definitely not near the center of the explosion.

That much is obvious because Mashima actually drew those 2 parts.

Uhhhhh where exactly did Hiro draw the explosion as specifically being behind Irene? We see lines in front of Irene. We see the rocks in front of Irene's feet starting to erupt. How was Irene not in the middle? Your say-so is pretty much the only thing we have to go on. This is what it actually looks like when there is an eruption that happens behind someone.

Now if you're saying this is what happened with Irene, understand that Acnologia's nuke was not only much stronger than Jackals, but you're saying Irene actually jumped backwards INTO the explosion.

The explosion was behind Irene. Otherwise Acnologia might as well have covered up Irene in that panel that we saw her in the first place.

It was obvious the explosion was behind her because you can even see Irene's facial expression and reaction to the explosion.

The lines at the front were simply to show ground breaking apart and the crater being formed.

But it wasn't covering Irene like a complete explosion.

And again, Irene didn't jump backwards immediately after the explosion was casted.

She had enough time to leap backwards at the end of the explosion, and this is proven by the smoke in front of her when she lands after doing a backflip.

(First panel, lower left corner: There is smoke from the explosion)

The first panel was only supposed to show that the ground was beginning to erupt. It was not the entire explosion. Moreover, it was zoomed in on Irene.
The second panel was the full extent of the attack, and indeed Irene was not visible from the front.
The smoke really proves nothing. It proves that by the time Irene landed, the dust had settled. It doesn't prove she started her jump after the end of the attack. We never saw the beginning of the jump.

Not to mention there's absolutely no reason for Irene to jump if she was in no danger in the first place. If the ground was stable, then she needn't have jumped. If it wasn't, then waiting until after the attack would be way too late to begin the jump.

Totally disagree with everything you said above.

We're not getting anywhere with this and there is no point for me to pollute this thread with anymore shit.

It's gone way too off-topic and I don't see any reason for me to drive it on any further.

Although, I think the original point still stands (You can have the last word if you so wish):

We both know that Acnologia missed on purpose, his eruption was not slow, and that Irene cannot and did not dodge Acnologia's eruption.
