From a purely grappling perspective, I think she was trying to sit in close guard, but Natsu swung his legs under her. Technically she could bump sweep him from that position, but I'm assuming both her and Natsu are novices at grappling because they're... well because Hiro is probably a novice, and what I just said would fly over his head. The real reason is because Hiro wants to draw Lucy with her legs around Natsu.

I definitely agree, say what you will about his writing but it's very nice to see how much he is dedicated to his work. He should receive criticism for it but he should also be allowed to express whatever he wants.

Yukino revitalizing Sting in the north and the recent screen time Minerva and Rogue had from fighting the S12 historias got me thinking "bet, It's Sting x Yukino, Rogue x Minerva" (which I lowkey want) but Hiro mixing up the game .
