It's possible sure but and there's really no reason to have everything revolve around fighting in the first place. If there's going to be sports and romance and battle shounen characters appearing together it'd be easier to have a comedy chapter of them interacting normally (like any other jump crossover). Forcing fights into everything would only limit what they could do.

Also a big fighting tournament would alienate too many series, Jump has a lot more than just battle shounen. You'd end up with something like Goku and Luffy and co getting a ton of screentime but characters from really popular era-defining sports and romance series would get a brief appearance at best. It would just end up feeling like a fighting game story mode anyway and at that point they'd be better off having the crossover be an actual fighting game.

If there was going to be a big crossover it'd probably be better to do a gag manga with each week being cameos drawn by different artists but I still think a series of separate oneshots would be best, perhaps with a central theme of celebrations and creators could choose whether they wanted to do something completely new or return to their old series one more time.
Well I mean, I wouldn't imagine this tournament being a super serious drawn out story with serious fights that last multiple weeks. I was more so imagine pretty comical fights that last 1 chapters.

And the non battle characters could be included as spectators or doing other stuff. For exp. Soma runs the food areas. The couple from the end of Nisekoi(don't know their names) in the crowd on a date. Ect.

What kind of things are you guys hoping or expecting to see in 2018 for WSJ's 50th anniversary?

Really would kill for a new game in the style of Jump Super/Ultimate Stars.
This. A game that has real skill behind it instead of being an arena fighter that reeks of button mashing.

A better roster altogether (no more Taro) would be nice.

Hey Guys .. I'm new here :D
I just checked 2009 and 2010 weekly rankings , I didnt know that Reborn! was popular , I always thought JP hated it . and how much did it sell per volume ?!
Fitting username is fitting.

Yas! Fuck the Jump VS games for the consoles.
I've actually been replaying Jump Ultimate Stars a lot on my tablet through a DS emulator, and goddamn this game is every Jump fans dream.
Really hoping a sequel stays on a touch screen device because the koma system is a lot of fun, and allows for non battle characters to get a lot of use and visibility.

Yeah. I feel like it'll never happen, but we can dream.
There's so much potential with all the new characters that came since the last one. Need it with update graphics.

Btw. Who drew the cover for jump superstars? Or was it just a matchup for previously existing images

Shaman King did indeed have a terrible original ending and a few years later when the manga was being rereleased it had one extra volume that gave it an actual ending. Takei talked about the reasons in interviews saying it had lost a lot of what made it good due to catering to the readers too much and got too standardised or something, so he felt that he couldn't keep going with it.

I'm just guessing at this but going by that and stuff he said while making the last volume about it being the finale he originally envision, it sounds a lot like his editor or perhaps some other higher-ups Jump didn't like his planned ending (thinking it would be badly received by the readers) and wanted him to change it to be more of a typical battle shounen finale, so he rage quit on the spot.
I did not know that. If that is the case then I hope if/when a reboot comes then the studio (most likely MAPPA) works with Takei.

They need to make a 2D fighting game. All these 3D ones just turn to rubbish in the end. Something along the line of Marvel vs Capcom 3 or Jojo's All star battle with Jump characters would actually be amazing, especially with a similar graphics style to MvC. I wouldn't even mind if the story mode was similar to Victory Vs going around the world and stuff, but they really have to abandon the whole button masher rubbish where it's more of beat em up than an actual fighting game.

If hopes for a crossover game is what we are talking about

I want a very long (turn based) rpg with a very large roster to recruit in your team (similar to pokemon) with original story and original villains

make the online fighting feature 4 vs 4 and put rules for competitive and rankings (again similar to pokemon)

if Gamefreak can make a game that's fit +700 unique pokemons I don't see why can't we have a game with 70+ fighters

Which is ironic considering the new ending as a typical battle shounen EVERYONE HOOKS UP AND HAS BABIES TO MAKE WAY FOR A NEW GENERATION WHERE IN REALITY ITS JUST A SEQUEL HOOK as you can get complete with an underwhelming final battle that takes ques from Bleach of all things only its dealt with as anticlimactic as you can expect. The final blurt of the last volume in the kazeban showed that he also wasn't satisfied with new ending but it was the best one he could come up with. I'm honestly surprised he even came back to the franchise with Flowers given how passionate he was about Jumbor that he remade it three times but he's wrapping that up and I doubt he's doing it for the money or because he has NOTHING to do like Watanuki with Kenshin so he might have rekindled his love for his creation again after it broke him down.

Include 200+ characters tbh. And add less important side character as summons or items

Suikoden inspired jrpg would be so damn great.

No, just Victory Vs. Is Ultimate Stars basically what I described?
Sort of. Its More like an amalgamation Smash Bros. and MvC with more emphasis on assists than combos if that makes sense.

The emphasis on the assist system makes it so fun and unique and super rewarding as a Jump aficionado.

Yep. The panel layout dual screen is a brilliant concept that's a treat for hardcore Jump fans and has a lot of technical depth for gamers to utilized it to bring out the best in every character and not just a way to exploit the same three characters in every match like MvC. Its a damn shame that the series was abandoned after two installments and the developer is off doing One Piece games instead they could have built a franchise out of it. J-Stars Victory Vs practically died off a week after its release because its game mechanics were so bad and unplayable.

The sad thing about all this is that a new installment would have been perfect on the Wii-U because it could have utilized the same mechanics as the DS ones with better graphics and stage layouts.

Yeah...
Could come out for the Switch though.
If a we got a 50th anniversary game in 2018 it could come be a big heavy hitter for the console for the consoles second year.

Also, there's so many new characters that can be added to the game since JUS came out.
Fighter characters alone would probably include Nura, Toriko, Oga, Medaka, Saiki, Korosensei, Yuma, Deku, Aster, Boruto, Samon, and Tanjiro at the very least, not including other characters from those series other than the MC's.

That was one of my big pet peeves about J-Stars was how underwhelming the cast was and how they didn't capitalize on the bulk of Jump's catalog like Super and Ultimate Stars did.

Yeah, J-Stars just seemed really half baked to me.
Ultimate Starts blew my mind back when I first played it in when the fan translation was first put out back when I was either a Freshman or Sophomore in high school, can't remember, but how many characters there were, and the amount of detail and thought that went in to building a great koma deck really impressed me for a licensed handheld game at the time. There were so many other little touches that really made it feel like it's own unique franchise of an arena fighter. It's been 10 years since JUS was released, so here's hoping that they dust it off for the 50th anniversary in 2018. If not, they probably never will. (Although then again, the One Piece DS and 3DS fighting games play like a simplified JUS)
Have so many memories of playing single-card download play (I had an R4 at the time, before upgrading to a Supercard) with friends at lunch. Off-topic, but the DS had one of the best libraries of any system imo. Especially when it came to Japanese games.
