"survived" means nothing. We have series like the dance manga, Hinomaru Zumou, Spring Weapon, etc that are utter irrelevant.
now you're backpedaling

But we can bet, can't we? I bet that these 3 new rookies won't stand a chance against Tamura, Tadatoshi and Boichi. Anybody disagrees?
you said rookies don't stand a chance against veterans

I provided examples of them succeeding against veterans

"Still surviving against one piece though".

lol.
Praising something for surviving is really silly, surely youd want to thrive instead. I dont think Toriko surviving against One Piece post anime was a good thing.

While being a successful author doesn't guarantee a success, I think Oda is one of the few excepts.
Having "From the Creator of One Piece" tagged to a new series would carry it a long way.
Same could be said for stuff like Naruto and Dragon Ball
Well Toriyama has purposely avoided doing another long running work again after Dragonball finished and its not like he needed to anyways given how successful it was. We'll have to wait later this year to see that new sci-fi manga Kishi is working on to see if his fame from Naruto helps it. I think Oda will take a LONG break after One Piece is finished before starting another series.

Everyone will just compare odas next work to one piece, he wont be able to escape it and if its even a gram less as good or throughout or onepiece~esque he will lose readers.

When you consider how much manga gets published in Jump every year and then cancelled then yeah just merely surviving the onslaught of the first picks and then getting recognized is a big accomplishment because it means that you've found an audience out of everything you went up against. Not every Jump manga survives through 3 volumes and among that not every Jump manga gets an anime.

I wish Stealth Symphony survived the times. You dont often seen such literary mastery in a manga. I can only think of Owari No Serafu, Naruto, BLack Clover, and Haikyuu!! as being that quality.

If Akira Toriyama decided to make another series after DB, I'm sure it would have been a success to some degree. And I doubt Oda will make another big series but I'm sure if he decided to make another series after One Piece it would be a success.
I think there are only like 4, maybe 5 ppl I can think of from the top of my head that could probably do this though

I think they simply worked so hard on their big success that they are worn out and don't want to return to a weekly or monthly schedule of drawing manga, which is understandable.

You can't really compare return Oda to a return veteran.

No matter what series Oda write next, it will crack 1 million first week.

If you have loyal fanbase, it will be popular. Just look at Tsugumi Ohba/Takeshi Obata's Platinum End.

I strongly believe Fujimaki's new series will have the same reception as Kuroko no Basuke's in the beginning. So so until the anime blows it up, it will have mediocre sales. Majority of his fanbase are female and only buy the manga for specific reason.

That is if it survives. Feel free to quote this post 3 months from now.

I hope Viz picks up a couple of the series. That magazine has absolutely no content now.

It's possible that it could come as some of the big announcements on their anniversary livestream.

This is exactly what I said. Platinum End is a good example. The story is UTTER crap. It's beyond bad...

Well I can't imagine a golf mecha manga... I just can't. Need to wait to comment first.

Indeed. Even so it's way easier for veteran mangaka to do better cause they already have a fandom behind it. Check the most recent successes: Ansatsu, Boku no Hero Academia and even Black Clover. All made by veteran mangaka.
Sensei no Bulge and Hungry Joker didn't have any fandom, they flopped hard. Don't make me laugh.
Putting Black Clover and its questionable quality aside, Assassination Classroom and My Hero Academia made success because they are good series in the first place. If other author made a series as good as them, it would make success the same way. Jump readers who have the trouble to cast a vote do so because they take the magazine seriously and I don't think that they get hyped by names only. The name of the authors means little when the series is shit.

Stealth Symphony is so good that I can go as far as saying that it's close to One Piece in quality. I can't say that it's better than One Piece because, y'know, it's the most sold manga OF ALL TIME.

Hungry Joker was very hyped after the GFC. Sensei no Bulge was very hyped as well (If I'm not mistaken, it was the very first "new" series that viz picked for it's shonen jump version). They flopped hard because they were very very bad, not because they did not have fandom (they do even today).

I for instance still think that Hungry Joker is better than Black Clover. Sensei no Bulge was indeed crappy.

And again, I agree, a series will succeed if it's good, independent of whoever is it's mangaka. What I said is... It's EASIER when you already have a fandom, when you already have experience, when you already know how the "system" works. But pay no mind to my opinion.

Just wait for the 3 new rookies relevance against the 3 veteran.

You can quote this message after that =)

Sensei no Bulge was indeed pretty crappy. What's the general thoughts on Oumagadoki Zoo? I actually really liked it. I still think My Hero Academia is his best work though. He even once described the original 'My Hero' one shot as his peak(although he said that before MHA).

Didn't Horikoshi initially gain some relevance with that Zoo manga though? I thought that was a lot more successful than Barrage.

And I don't think good series always survive, nor did bad series always fail
