Toriko had a pretty standard good boost of an adaptation from a Shounen. A ton of Toei animation series all over the years got such boosts and most of them did air in different timeslot not directly related with another big series. For an example you have Gash Bell.

Strange you're using Toriko as an example of a series that got significant boost of popularity due to crossovers, when is almost always talked as an example of a flop doing that.
Still nobody gives an example of a series that did such a crossover and got big boosts. The comparison is always of the most stupid kind where a series of smaller size appearing together with a series of way bigger size means that series has to have, and is expected to have, such a boost that will throw it to almost the size of the bigger one.
That reasoning is so good that we see the ubiquitous proliferation of such economic tactic, ..., not!

Well, given the fact that World Trigger was given minor priority and was shown in 6:30 a.m it had a huge boost of 2 to 3 times its past size, in terms of manga sales. It was in fact a surprise for Toei Animation, they were expecting for it to be an obscure series. Even though the anime series ended in April 2016, the popularity of it made Toei Animation go for a promotion and collaboration with two big merchandise retailers 6 month later(October 2016).

Still all of those things that happened with World Trigger can mean nothing in comparison to Black Clover if the series gets high priority and gets successful. We know that Black Clover has high ratings in Jump and that its volumes sell well(more or around the same as Toriko was doing during the same time) and is anime is part of a big Studio(though World Trigger was in the hands of a bigger one :P), so is very likely that it will get a pretty big support.

I believe that at least double what sells right now is an easily achievable objective, and that means doing better than World Trigger.
Big or small, I'm saying it got a boost in general.

No it's not. There's a big difference between what Toriko & BC were selling prior to their animes. I think even the first volume releases, BC sold like what 30k-ish during it's first week? Whereas Toriko did double, mid-60k. It will get a big support but I don't see the quality of BC being as good as World Trigger or Toriko. Even comparing volume 9 of BC to volume 9 of Toriko is a big difference. I don't how it did in comparison between WT & BC but I'll take your word for it that BC did better.

It's just baseless estimates at the end of the day. Expecting 2 series that are selling near the same prior to anime and expecting them to be around the same post anime boost isn't going to always happen. I believe Shokugeki no Soma & Haikyuu were selling pretty close to one another prior to their animes but Haikyuu steam rolled SnS. (if that example isn't true then you get what I mean lol...)

I mean... I'm reading comments saying "wasted potencial"... At that time BC did not have good ranking but now it has... So what's wasted anyway?

One thing is you guys disliking the series because of wtv, another is the same series doing bad and well... BC is doing everything right now, except bad =)

Congratulations, Tabata! Unfortunately I don't have the same opinion as Japanese children and sales/TOC does not make a manga enjoyable.

Sorry to say that, but Shueisha could care less about your opinion, or mine, or anybody's. Same for the "enjoyability" of a manga.

And yes, despite not making necessarily enjoyable, it makes a manga successfull and this is the whole point for it's author, it's company and the community as a whole.

It's ok to instate your opinion, but bash a series only because you "dislike it" and based on the "pure nothing" is not a good argument.

The castle invasion was a downgrade after the fun more character-focused early arcs of Black Clover though.

I think it's also the worst ranked arc overall, from what I remember of the few times Black Clover dropped out of the top 5 most of them were during the invasion.

The villains are by far my least favourite aspect of Black Clover. If Black Clover had good villains, then maybe I'd actually give a shit about whats going on in the serious side of things.

Well there is no singular villain, as of yet, but there is a group of villains the White Night Eye. Is it really a problem if there is no singular villain MHA another series that doesn't have a main villain.

Are you kidding me? Shigaraki is the main villain.

You don't need to go out of your way and say this, I know, actually, we all know that Shueisha don't give a single fuck to me. And sales are exactly what you said. they are nothing to me, they matter to Shueisha and the author.. I care if the series is good and Shueisha cares if the series is profitable.

And I agree with you that talking shit about a series based on "pure nothing" is not a good argument, but iirc we have lots and lots of pages on TOC threads talking about BC and why it is bad.

Lots and lots of pages are still not enough to me... Since we're all EXPERT critics.

You can easily see it selling 600k+?
Yeah. Why else do you think they're promoting it as much as they have been? They're expecting huge returns. And honestly, I think they've learned from their mistakes with them fumbling the ball with MHA's anime previously. I seriously doubt they'll make the same mistakes this go around.

Eh, if you want to get technical he is, but ultimately the Villains alliance it's self is the true villain at least in my opinion.

Come on... Shigaraki is the main villain...

In fact... Horikoshi could do a spin off of MHA telling Allmight story with One For All, like Sinbad no Bouken is to Magi.

I hope that 2~3 series from the new ones make success to give more diversity of subjects here.

I think that'll probably be explored more later on in the main manga in a flashback arc when Deku hits the proverbial wall.

In the same thread that dies on the notion that the Toriko anime was not a failure and had a good boost for the source of material goes back in say that the MHA anime "fumbled the ball" despite the fact that it did better in its first year with an anime than Toriko did? And now apparently Black Clover will sell two times the amount with an anime despite their being no evidence of that happening? You guys sure have your priorities twisted.

Nah man there's no getting technical about it really lol. He's the main villian. You can tell with all the parallels between him and Deku. And most intriguing to me personally is how Horikoshi is handling his character. Usually villians are already set in stone strong with their goal in mind but Shigaraki is growing at the same rate Deku, while at the same time, learning how to treat his comrades. With us soon learning his backstory (which will probably be really gritty and dark, he's wearing his father's hand) I think Shigaraki will be comparable to the top shonen villians imo in terms of character development

When Shigaraki(assumingly) becomes a force to be reckoned with and feared during the end-game of the series, it will feel so deserved from a writing standpoint.
