Big or small, I'm saying it got a boost in general.Toriko had a pretty standard good boost of an adaptation from a Shounen. A ton of Toei animation series all over the years got such boosts and most of them did air in different timeslot not directly related with another big series. For an example you have Gash Bell.
Strange you're using Toriko as an example of a series that got significant boost of popularity due to crossovers, when is almost always talked as an example of a flop doing that.
Still nobody gives an example of a series that did such a crossover and got big boosts. The comparison is always of the most stupid kind where a series of smaller size appearing together with a series of way bigger size means that series has to have, and is expected to have, such a boost that will throw it to almost the size of the bigger one.
That reasoning is so good that we see the ubiquitous proliferation of such economic tactic, ..., not!
Well, given the fact that World Trigger was given minor priority and was shown in 6:30 a.m it had a huge boost of 2 to 3 times its past size, in terms of manga sales. It was in fact a surprise for Toei Animation, they were expecting for it to be an obscure series. Even though the anime series ended in April 2016, the popularity of it made Toei Animation go for a promotion and collaboration with two big merchandise retailers 6 month later(October 2016).
Still all of those things that happened with World Trigger can mean nothing in comparison to Black Clover if the series gets high priority and gets successful. We know that Black Clover has high ratings in Jump and that its volumes sell well(more or around the same as Toriko was doing during the same time) and is anime is part of a big Studio(though World Trigger was in the hands of a bigger one :P), so is very likely that it will get a pretty big support.
I believe that at least double what sells right now is an easily achievable objective, and that means doing better than World Trigger.
No it's not. There's a big difference between what Toriko & BC were selling prior to their animes. I think even the first volume releases, BC sold like what 30k-ish during it's first week? Whereas Toriko did double, mid-60k. It will get a big support but I don't see the quality of BC being as good as World Trigger or Toriko. Even comparing volume 9 of BC to volume 9 of Toriko is a big difference. I don't how it did in comparison between WT & BC but I'll take your word for it that BC did better.
It's just baseless estimates at the end of the day. Expecting 2 series that are selling near the same prior to anime and expecting them to be around the same post anime boost isn't going to always happen. I believe Shokugeki no Soma & Haikyuu were selling pretty close to one another prior to their animes but Haikyuu steam rolled SnS. (if that example isn't true then you get what I mean lol...)
