They have learned from their mistakes, The manga has 5 volumes and it can't even sell 100k.

Uh-Huh.
Stealth Symphony and Hi-Fi Cluster sure are the best currently running Jump series right now. Glad Viz knew they'd be so successful.
This was rude with a masterpiece like Stealth Symphony, take it back! :derp

They do have Haikyuu, sure they're way behind on it but they are gradually making their way through the series on their free site. Kimetsu might not be a huge success but it's growing at a decent rate and it's just weird for english jump to miss out on the only successful wsj battle shounen from the last two years knowing how much the genre dominates western fanbases.

The only other series they're missing are some gag series (which rarely do well in the west) and Yuragi (which they can't really include for obvious reasons).

They learned from their mistakes? Like when they picked up Red Sprite to its cancellation last year?
Face it, Viz is ran by idiots who are far too arrogant to learn from their mistakes.

I think they are wondering now whether it is worth it. They would probably have to publish all chapters on VIZ website until catching up like they are doing with Haikyuu. Haikyuu IS worth it, but Kimetsu no Yaiba... They do have more information about Kimetsu no Yaiba situation than us... I would have my doubts if I were them...

Honestly it'd be easy for them to just start when they meet the pillars and have a recap page where they go over the plot and characters so far.
They did that with MHA.

They don't need to publish all the chapters to run it weekly, Soma was pretty far ahead of the volume releases when they included it. I don't think they even went back to do Academia's chapters before the point they picked it up at and it had only been ranked for a few weeks at that point.

If they started at the beginning of an arc it'd work out fine (going from the pillars appearance with a recap page or two would be good like said above).

They picked up Academia during the Sports Festival arc I believe.

But this would make them obliged to the release the volumes, which would arise costs question and again whether it is worth it.
My Hero Academia was introduced very fast IIRC, it was not instantaneous but fast and it was already a blast in popularity, and Shokugeki no Soma was already pretty famous when they published it and they just didn't publish since the beginning because it was "too racy", but it became less racy afterwards. They are not in the same circumstances to compare.

Seven months into serialization isn't really fast.

It is considering that MHA was only 3 volumes (around 22 chapters) deep into the story when it started.

Grasping at straws.
The series was an obvious hit from the moment it started ranking. Volume releases don't matter in this case because the series had been running with popularity for seven months before Viz picked it up.
They knew it was popular from the get go and refused to pick it up for quite some time. Great business decision, right?

I mean, there are plenty of things other than popularity that can go into whether they pick something up or not. Maybe it just wasn't a good time for them, maybe it'd cost them more money for whatever reason. Not saying I'm a fan of how they've been doing stuff (didn't bother renewing my subscription this year, although that's more because of World Trigger going on hiatus) but if you're going to just assume you know everything based on one or two variables then you may as well be a Youtuber at that point.

It has very good reception though...a lot better than other series that hit the 100k mark within 5 volumes, i.e Black Clover.

It'll prob. outsell BC once the anime arrives but that depends how it's handled and who's animating it.

You must be mad to even consider this. Black clover is the next million seller of jump. Kimetssy won't even sell 100k. It will get 13 episodes just for the lols.

We both know that you and I have a lot more knowlege on Shueshia history than the average YouTuber or Redditor. Please don't insult me like that. Coming from you it was genuinely offensive. I am not a subhuman poser fraud.
There are plenty of reasons why Viz is ruining the Jump brand. Ranting about their inability to pick up the right series (be it timing, money, or sheer incompetence) is just the tip of the iceberg.

I remember it from one of their weekly podcasts where they talk about the issues (or at least they're supposed to, some weeks they get pretty distracted), I think the specific reason they said didn't go for it is due to the translator not being quite up to scratch or something.
CCC did Yaiba and does MHA currently. Not sure how he couldn't handle Yaiba from a translation standpoint.

It has 700,000 copies in print as of volume 4 (300,000 as of volume 2, 500,000 as of volume 3).
65% are considered sold so around ~455,000 copies sold. Before they fall off the chart, all four volumes reach about ~100,000 copies sold. Given that it is still in the top 500, I would say each volume sales between ~120,000 to 150,000 copies.
