I found Toriko to be pretty good/average in the beginning, only to rise in quality as the arcs progressed. What I liked was that it kept rising in quality at one point, It still would've went up had it not skipped the areas. It kept pushing out quality chapters and at one point it did them consistently which is very hard to do. This obviously fell short once he got rushed which was out of his control.

Oda is a genius, no denying that but I don't think Shimabu is that far off. The one shot stated that Takeshi & One Piece were in competition, even though OP would almost always get #1 rankings. If Shima wasn't a genius then he couldn't have competed with One Piece at the start at all. Both are geniuses; it's just that Oda is the bigger of the two.

Keep in mind, Leo, that Shimabu's potential at being really huge was cut short because of his immaturity. Takeshi could've easily been bigger than Toriko (Toriko is already a big series) had it gotten an anime during the time of One Piece/HxH and if he wasn't being immature which caused it to get canned. That's pretty much a fact. I think it's more unfair that Takeshi didn't get an anime.

I managed to read the one shot and it was incredible. I never knew Oda had a different pen-name at one point. RING was confirmed to be cancelled, I knew it, I remember someone here tried telling me that it was suppose to be really short. In the Viz translation, some of the editors implied that a series from a new artist never had #1 ranking for it's 1st chapter since Fist of The North Star? Seriously?

I almost said to him that they what is happening in Shuudan are soccer matches, but I think the moderators wouldn't like the joke. XD

While the occident is not interested in the series even a bit, let's see what Japanese readers will say, since the they are giving CP for any new series very early nowadays, this week CP isn't really parameter for anything, I wouldn't be surprised if they give one to Cross Account as well after this.

To be honest, that's pretty close to how I'll describe it. It's certainly more slice-of-life than sport action.

I wasn't aware that sex work clientele were all immature. There's plenty of reasons why somebody would become or see an escort. Especially if you're an overworked mangaka with probably few opportunities for social excursions.

You're right. I thought he called himself immature but I misread what he said during the final chapter of Toriko. I don't think he's not really a pedo as well.

It is his own fault. Great talents are also source of inspiration and example for many people and they must be aware of this condition and don't mess things up.
