How is this current arc not great? Everything that people have been clamoring for (development for side characters, longer fights, a threat, story progression, world building) is happening this arc. Shit Shigarakis development is amazing.
True, but it's just not as exciting. Maybe its the lack of focus on main characters? Deku, Kirishima and Aizawa are the only ones really in this arc, and Deku and Aizawa have had very small roles so far. Focusing on both new villains and new heroes at once and having them fight removes me emotionally from the events and I just cant get excited. Just me (although it seems not)?
Someone before mentioned the lack of actual villains, and now I'm getting excited at the thought of a jailbreak arc where the traitor takes action and reveals themelves.
1. Neverland: It's been pretty good, though the style of storytelling is completely different to what the series built for itself and strived off. I think it will do great with some more time.
2. Yuragi: Delinquents are always great, but she didn't really do it for me. As stupid as this sounds, I think Yuragi needs to introduce another male character with a decent role to give the series new perspective. Kogarashi alone with an ever increasing number of girls all falling for him is getting a bit much imo. Most of them are just obvious fodder at this point and need to be given value in the story outside of their relationship (lack there of) to Kogarashi.
3&4:
Robo: It had by far the most solid start of those 6 series, but it hasn't changed at all. Its still exactly how it was, which is good that it's consistent, but it has never been truly exciting. Its kinda bland and I thought I would enjoy this current match much more than I am.
Stone: Much much better than the first arc, but its still got issues. Am I the only one who feels it's too childish? It comes across as one of those cartoons you show to 10yr olds to get them interested in science. Its over-glorification of science is getting cringier by the week. And the sudden tone shift is jarring considering the first arc was about some psychotic teenager wanting to kill people in the apocalypse. Hopefully it finds some balance, I am both excited and worried to see where this goes. The potential is enormous, but it has yet to impress me so far,
What are peoples thoughts on Shudan?
I caught up a few days ago and have to say I'm enjoying it more than any of the other new series this year. Its typical Yokota with his focus on relationships, but that's exactly why I feel it works. It doesn't take itself seriously and isnt over the top, it's just there having a good time. Hopefully with HZ going, this can survive as long as Sesuji and give us something great again.
