Was about to post that but yeah as soon as I saw that image I immediately knew it was Shimabu. The image at the bottom left that looks like an old Takeshi is the preview for the second one shot? (something 100%)
All these one shots but it looks like he's just experimenting. RING was a made up sport and idk if this will be one too or just American football. Shimabu has been doing comedy for kids/teens so not sure how Grand Jump's audience will view it, most of them are in their 40/50s (?). I thought Chingiri was getting serialized in Grand Jump but I think I must've misread somewhere.
I don't know what you actually tried to say with this comment, but for me it was basically saying that editors are terribly wrong with this policy? The two biggest series of our generation were made by rookies who "didn't know what they were doing and needed help of editors" <- Editors point of view.
Bakuman has never been more true in this regard, it also covered this situation where Mashiro and Takagi listened to the editor and really suffered because of that. I'm not saying that authors, principally rookies, don't need editors' help, but if they try to excessively order the author around, they will miss genius authors like Oda and Kishimoto. Oda IS a genius and it seems like they didn't see him that way because they tried to order him around and conflicts arose. What if Oda listened to the editors? One Piece would have the same success?
I don't like this approach, basically they are canceling authors in 10 chapters to come to them and say "See? I told you to listen to me." and control them tight in the next series. It doesn't seem to me a healthy approach. It cuts potentially beautiful flowers by the root. (Man, that was poetic. xD)
Who said that the editor tried to Order Oda around? Existing discussion about the story and what to put in a chapter and the way to go from there is what an Editor is there for, and Oda had and has many of those still now(though now it seems the editors majorly just fawn to his work, something I believe it happened to Kubo and Kishimoto and the reason of their series decline).
This assumption that editors ideas are normally bad and authors ideas are normally good is just the compartimentalization of editor(the guy in the shadow) the bad guy, author(the guy in the light) the good guy. This is not true at all and seeing things like this shows huge bias and condition the person opinions about the system from the very beginning of his thought process.
An author that just listen to what the editor/other person says and does it, is just a robot or a stupid person. It isn't the fault of the editor at all. Think if things were opposite, the author is the editor and the editor is the author. Should the editor just listen to anything the author says?
Nope, what was shown in Bakuman is authors without a fucking idea of what to do for serialization, think about a person going for a professional work, one that will bring food to their table, and not know what the hell they are going to do for the job. And the Editor send them to do ecchi. The guys accepted to go for that(and so is their responsability) and found out they were in fact horrible at that.
Do you know what? There is a guy in Real Life, and in Jump, that wanted to do super hero action stuff, but he was not that good at it, and the editor adviced him to do ecchi, and he became super successful with that. Do you know who I'm talking about? Katsura Masakazu, the guy that gave the idea of the fusion to Toryama. That his first success, a modest one, was Wingman, a superhero serie, but when he went to Ecchi he got 2 major successes, Video Girl Ai and I''s. Now he returned to his loved super hero genre doing Zetman.
So was it bad that he listened to his editor, or did they missed a genius author?

Nope, the 10 week cancellation this exist and happens quite often. Note that knowing that you series is cancelled isn't the same as stopping to write the story The Magazine informs the mangaka that the series was cancelled and they are given some chapters to close up the story.
The author of Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo when informed of his series cancellation he stopped writing his story and that is the reason why you got the record 8 chapter series.
