Assuming this is true in Jump as well, how do you explain the series that are selling terribly like Spring Weapon?
Cause the title is a click bait? The mangaka wasn't making any general statement, he was just saying his series in this case was canceled because the sales was low.

Every magazine uses questionnaires/surveys to gauge reader response early on in a series' life and predict its sales, not just Jump. If the early results are horrible, series get axed without waiting for volume results, and for lot of minor publishers they won't even bother releasing it in volume format.

But he says the reader response was good. It was cancelled specifically because of sales.

No, the editor was just trying to encourage the author and make him feel better so the cancellation news would be less painful. It was also mainly about volume 1 and 2 having similar numbers, which suggests a strong core fanbase that's sticking around, but wasn't necessarily about its position in the magazine.

Oh and for the record Spring Weapon N1 in my opinion is funnier to reach chapter by chapter as oppose to volume. FeelsBad that my people stop translate it after chapter 17.
Is that in a language other than English? I've only been able to find the 3 free chapters on Viz in English for Spring Weapon

I want the top 30 to be released solely so the world can praise Neverland's pre anime success... Sigh

At this point NeverLand is the only series that can surpass MHA not BC not Dr Stone or even KnY.

Can someone compere Neverland's pre anime sale to MHA pre anime sale? thank you

People are betting big on Neverland when its not even been given an anime. Its chances of become the next Hinomaru Zumou are not exactly 0%.

Eh, who knows about that, down the line in like 2 years both Kimetsu and Stone could grow enough to maybe reach BNH, depending on a lot of factors.

But yes, I do agree that for now Neverland has the biggest chances of beating BNH and even Haikyu. I'll say it yet again, it will all come down to the anime and how they approach it.

Wow, it's almost as if Shueisha try to push and promote all their upcoming promising titles, crazy, right? Comparing it to the crazy push Toriko got is stretching it.

It's a joke. Whenever a series gets some additional promotion people remember Toriko. Black Clover, for example, just because it got a CP every three weeks, some people already called it "the new Toriko".

For the most part studio doesn't matter. It's just the director/staff that matters. This video explains pretty well why.
.
So What matters more? Shouldn't be the person doing the drawings given that in the end that is the core of the art.
I would say that if you talking of a group of series: Animation Studio or Director(if he has leverage to do its thing independently of where he works).
One Series(In detail): Director and The main team
One Episode(In detail): Episode Director and Main Animation

Toei Animation is the Top studio of Yokais. All the Kitaros were made by the company, and it has done other titles like Thriller Restaurant, Nube Sensei, Ghost Sweeper Mikami, Akuma-kun and more. It doesn't exist any other anime studio that has done more series of the genre, and they have the biggest and best know how about it.
Still that doesn't mean that Toei animation will do Kimetsu no Yaiba.
I think many people tend to forget that the creative team is not the only staff working on any media production. The studio management team (whose member are mostly internal employees of a studio, not outsourcing staff) is extremely important as well, and can greatly affect the quality of the works produced by the creative team. A poorly managed production means means stressed and overworked staff, which leads to poor final products. Take the difference in animation quality between the first few episodes of Yuri on Ice and the mess it became at the end, same creative team but with extremely rushed schedules due to poor management.

Many, if not most anime series have more than one creative team working on it. Not every episode is made entirely by one team, some episodes are even fully outsourced. The decision regarding which studios to outsource to relies heavily on the main production studio. So it's definitely unwise to disregard studios when it comes to anime production.

I always think Kimetsu would probably suit Sunrise, since it reminds me a lot of Inuyasha and Keikkaishi which are produced by Sunrise, even though the studio is more famous for their original series.

Having said that, I don't think that just because a studio has produced many successful anime of a genre, they would always be the best choice when it comes to that genre. Take Production I.G and sports anime. While Kuroko and Haikyuu are extremely successful with high production value, Welcome to the Ballroom, its next attempt at sports anime, flops ridiculously. This happens despite the fact that they brought in almost the exact same team that did Haikyuu, with animators specialised in dance animation and many notable names from AoT, Your Name, and BNHA. They even have Hayashi Yuuki (Haikyuu and BNHA) writing the music for it and Kikuta Hiromi as sound director, who has directed the sound for some of the best Haikyuu episodes. Yet its production value is disappointing (especially the sound department, you can see my main grievance with this anime), the manga sale gets negligible boost.

The studio we consider good for a particular manga might turn out to be a horrible choice. It's fun to speculate, but ultimately we can only hope the best.

Which is funny because BC got way more promotion than Toriko did in the magazine. Only in like 2013 did Toriko got a lot of promotion in the magazine from what I remembered and rarely got promoted from 2014 onward. Toriko really only got pushed heavy with it's anime.

Wow, what a waste. They should've got all that talent to work on HZ, it would've yielded them a better result. Production IG better pickup HZ, it's ripe and so much content to work with that if the anime is done right then we'll see a lot of backlog sales.

Had TPN won that manga taicho award, I guarantee it would have already surpassed pre-anime MHA.

There actually is still a sizable gap between the two as of Volume 6:

Neverland

Neverland passes 300k off the charts but its a given that Heroaca also passed 300k off the chart. An award doesn't actually have too much pull in sales given how Sakamichi no Apollon won the Shogakugan manga award in the general manga category and it didn't show up once on Oricon. The next Neverland volume that releases in January has this target:

149444 (4)│223055│251675│272270│------┃*,650,533 (291)┃2016/02|僕のヒーローアカデミア 7

Both have (will have) a four day start. It should be interesting to see how Neverland does as the biggest Jump volume released that month but for now, its yet to still stay on the chart for more than 3 weeks.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ TPN placed 6 out of 13 on Manga Taisho Award so it isn't too bad for having 2~3 volumes out at the time?. Being on the nominee already give out a slight boost, plus it is also a "bookstore keeper recommend book" so it also has special treatment. Last year i posted a picture of it having its own corner!! Relax, just let it grow normally and support the author/artist if you like there series :super.

If it keeps up the performance then it might be nominate for the 63rd Shogakukan Manga Award which should be at the end of this month (past Jump winners are Bleach (2004), Sket Dance (2009), and Haikyuu (2015)) and/or the Tezuka Osamu Award (which imo is the highest award a manga can receive) sometimes in February.

Fun fact, the last 5 years Taisho winners were all Seinen/Josei.
