I don't think she is emotionless, though. Her love towards her siblings and her sadness regarding her family life are genuine. The way in which she sulked after being rejected, as well. To me, it simply feels as if she has psychological issues that manifest as a level of detachment from reality. I think that's what makes the premise interesting: Kei is protagonist that legitimately needs psychiatric help and not just a meme MAD MAN like HxH's Gon.

The negative relation between method acting and psychological health is a real thing:

Looking through these articles I can better understand why the president considers the MC dangerous but even then it feels weak, almost like she's decided to smother the talent instead of try to make it grow in a more stable direction, making it more personal and idealistic, key aspects of Shounen manga. There is obviously something in her past that scares her. Even then, the biggest drawback is again the art, specifically the expressions. They're just not intense enough. For example, in the latest Heroaca chapter, you can tell there is a change in Endeavour looking at his eyes. You can tell without words that there is something resembling gentleness there. Here, that resemblance of an emotion is almost muddled. I know what she's supposed to be showing but only because I've been told that.

Also a smaller nitpick but, the outfits in the series are sloppily done . The guy who comes to pick her up doesn't even have his shoes completely drawn in, and its not a small panel either. They're just outlines without even screen tone on them. I might be spoiled because of Horikoshi taking the time to make the character outfits detailed whenever possible but the artist should at least drawn in laces.

I'd agree that the artist might not be experienced enough to carry the series. It's also worth mentioning that a series about a female protagonist with legitimate psychological mental issues might not be the best fit for Jump, although I wonder how much of the actual readership is actually children at this point. There was a poll that showed that only 12% of the people reading One Piece is under 18 years old.

I hope we get Yuki Kaji playing a lead boy in a Weekly Shonen Jump anime again. I think, based on the character designs, he'd be a good choice in this anime.

Looks like Demizu Posuka (TPN's artist) is set to appear on an upcoming episode of Mandou Kobayashi.

So TPN won the grand prize i was hoping to see Kaiu Shirai, the article stated that Shirai joined the conversation but without appearing on camera lol.

I remember seeing her in that YouTube video where she's drawing for a kid. She really likes that green hair, lol.

Am I the only one who had this weird expectation that she was younger?

She's 29 if I remember correctly, that's pretty young.

I guess, that explains Gilda's green hair in TPN.

I had the expectations that she had blonde hair, which is also weird, because, you know, Japan, yet, seeing her with GREEN hair make my expectation less weird in hindsight.
Though, I don't mind that she's not 'younger', I would still date her. But that's because I'm more more mature ladies.:3c

Huh, she's younger than my GF(though still older than me). That IS weird.

You’re comparing a veteran with years of experience to someone who probably never draw a weekly manga in her life. She’s a pixiv artist. Where they have an episode about that in Juhan Shuttai. Editor picks these artists up from pixiv, say some nice thing about working in manga yada yada, then sign a contract. From a hobby to a job is a different thing

I would legit not be surprised if the aritist start to fall behind on the art and unable to meet the deadline since she feel the pressure of doing it weekly in SJ. I may be wrong though.

Does anyone have a link to the Act Age artist's Pixiv page?

Thanks.

I think her art is pretty good. She just seems like she’s not use to drawing comics. But if Act-Age sticks around I’m sure she’ll improve as the series goes along. Or she’ll get better if she’s ever attached to another serialization She’s clearly a novice.

I guess so. But Posuka is also like 30, where as this girl is 20. Posuka has much more experience. Plus iirc, Posuka actually has worked on a children’s manga a while back

Now you reminded me that i have to make a wish/expectation list for HZ characters' voice actors.
I think Masakazu Morita (Kurosaki Ichigo) would fit for Hinomaru's role, tough they may choose a younger seiyu for him.

they already started an official twitter account for Jigokuraku

https://twitter.com/jplus_jigokurak

in other Plus news Vocchimen is a kill

Dang, that sucks. Its first volume sold pretty badly though, so I'm sadly not surprised. I'm hoping my beloved Saguri-chan sells well. Give it life Jump+!
