If Saiki also ends, WSJ will lack in comedy series. Are there any authors you can think of that might come back to WSJ with a comedy or do you think they'll try their luck out with rookies.

There's the authors of Toriko, Sket Dance, Jaguar, Ass Class, Samon-kun that I can think of and they're all fairly free right now.
I definitely expect Numa to return. Usuta (Jaguar) is doing Food Fighter Tabelu in Jump+ right now, so he’s not available to come back (he’s doing a oneshot sometime in Jump this year though, same with Shimabu).
Shinohara said after Astra ended that he didn’t have anything in mind for a new series, so it might be a while for him to return.
Kinda want to see something new from Sawai (Bobobo).

I truly wanna see Naoki Iwamoto (magico's mangaka) returning to WSJ pages, but his strong point is with a magic fantasy/adventure, and I think the magazine is just full with these themes, so he would be probably cancelled.

Beside that, my dream is to see a new detective/horror manga in Jump, something like Furudate's first series.

I actually think the magazine lacks in the adventure fantasy manga department. A classic style pure adventure series would be nice.

So you're seriously defending long running shows despite how bad they end up being almost every time.
Long running shows are what keeps the anime industry profitable. They're usually one of the most popular titles both domestically and internationally.
Long running shows aren't a bad model? What a joke. I wonder why they're dying out except for the kids ones.
They're not dying out. The studios that can handle the workload are still making long running shows.

Going by recent Gintama developments, it feels like it's still got a good bit left to go. I honestly wouldn't be too surprised if it went right to ch 700, I can see it doing another couple mini-arcs during all the clean up.

At any rate it won't be ending next batch.

Really? Well, it has to end this year for sure. It has to...

I know what you mean, but the magazine now have One Piece, Black Clover, Hunter x Hunter, Kimetsu no Yaiba and BOZEBEATS using the "magic/fantasy/supernatural adventure", of course it's not impossible to create a new succesfull series with these genres (and I hope Naoki do it), but it's hard.

To me, Golem Hearts is the perfect example (besides the obvious lacks). Oh, and when you say "classic style pure adventure", what do you mean? Something like Kyoukai no Rinne?

HxH doesn't stay around for that long. Kimetsu is more focused on the supetural demon aspect and it doesn't explore the world that much. I meant a fantasy adventure series similar to something like Nanatsu no Taizai for example. Or the recent Ariadne and Marry Grave from Sunday which are all about exploring their worlds, but Marry Grave has a darker aesthetic than your typical world exploring fantasy.

I wouldn't say Black Clover is an adventure manga. Sure they go places, but it's more like they decide their going to some destination at the end of one chapter, then the first page of the next chapter shows them already there.
I have a feeling that Bozebeats is going to be similar to Hero Academia in that they'll stay in the city for the most part. Way too early to tell for sure, but it's just a feeling I have.
Kimetsu isn't really an adventure manga either.

I think One Piece is still the only true adventure manga in Jump. Everyone else are a bunch of posers. To me, an adventure manga means showing the travel between destinations and having a frequent change in setting. One Piece does both of these well.

I think Black Clover could do well to follow One Piece's example by showing the characters traveling to their destination. Tabata can use those travel times to do what he does well: character interactions. There's a lot of potential for characterization from interactions with others, and it's not like he's at risk of being cancelled anytime soon. He can afford to slow the pace down a little and let the characters develop.
But it seems like he would rather keep things as simple as possible.

I found the pilot that inspired the series

https://rookie.shonenjump.com/series/FlR8CfEMhgk

I see why they teamed the writer with an artist, wow
found out more about this series and the duo behind it
Jump actually approved it for serialization on March last year but they are only ready to serialize it now

the writer is 43 years old, he have been trying to get serialize forever, he only managed to breakthrough when he was 40

the artist Mitsuki Nagata is also a musician with a soundcloud account, and guess what? judging by the voice they are not my boi! they are my gurl!

The one problem with world building adventure-focused stuff is that it needs to be done just right early on or it just ends up being a bunch of boring info-dumps and monster-of-the-week stuff that everyone just skips. You need some skill and knowledge to know what works and what doesn't but most fantasy adventure stuff in WS Jump seems to be made by first timers.

As a one who stop Reading naruto after the chuunin exam and BC after the king appeared, both girl are in the same level, and only because I know the shit that happen to Sakura after I dropped it.I remember Ino vs Sakura more than any battle I read in Black Clover.
Noelle has fought and is re-injuring an opponent who in Naruto would be the equivalent of Kisame to say .... to volume 7.

The most exciting member of Sakura in the first 10 volumes was with Ino ...

I always kind of had the impression that Dr Stone would be another Black Clover. Pushed to the limits, but always disappointing growth wise.
Always ?

I want a really wacky/random comedy series like Takeshi/Bobobo. Takeshi has grown on me a lot as a series, it's such a fun read and feels unique. Takeshi had a strong impression on me so far and blows Toriko (character) out of the water from the first 19 chapters of both series. He's packed with so much charisma, teaching his fellow peers great morals and on the path of becoming a leader. If he does get a lot of development later on in the series then he honestly may end up being my fav. MC in shonen. The concept of being a leader is just a unique/cool concept which is why I love Shimabu, he always comes up with these unique series.

I definitely felt a lot more in Takeshi's first 19 chapters than Toriko's first 19 chapters. The backstory of Bonchu was great and who would've knew he was so manly. I'm really intrigued with the direction of where Shimabu has taken this series since there's so much development/characterization that can be involved with becoming a leader. From what I've gather it seems like the Japanese really loved Takeshi more than Toriko as well as they were able to connect with this series a lot more. (Not to say Toriko is bad, it's still awesome)

Name a better duo!

Bobobo, I've only seen some of the anime. It's awesome and as random as it can get. I feel we need more series like these two. I thought the author is still doing some spin off of bobobo in another magazine?

Speaking of Takeshi, I hope we can get another gag/serious action mix series once Gintama ends, I'm glad Takeshi is being done but it'd be nice to see a new proper decent one in WSJ anyways.

Does anyone here believe that Harapeko in Marie would survive (or at least had more chances) if Gintama has already finished? I'm thinking about this now, most of us (including myself) do not believe that Black Clover would survive if Naruto hasn't ended, so the question came up on my mind.

No because it was as boring as watching paint dry
I totally agree with you, it was boring as hell, but we're talking about a comedy/action manga (as like Gintama) from a veteran author that had a good success with his previous manga using the same themes, I think it would have had more chances.

Probably not.
The comedy of the manga is extremely bad, this is possibly one of the reasons for the failure of the manga.
Hungrie Marie was very boring to me.

Honestly, I really don't understand this line of thinking. Just because there are series that overlap doesn't mean that a newer series will have any more difficulty than it will already have catching on. We have two Rom-Coms in the magazine right now, Yuragi and Bokuben. Their fundamental stories are different but both have romcom elements. Both are also doing fairly well with Yuragi getting an anime this Summer. All that really matters is that the story be good, characters be captivating and charming and a series should be able to stick around. Did you not read both Naruto and OP every week when Naruto was publishing despite the overlap in themes? Didn't Haikyuu do fairly well pre-anime when Kuroko was blowing up post-anime despite their overlapping themes? Sure fans of one series can "migrate" to another when series ends but the story has to be good in the first place. In that case, a fairly popular series became even more popular. Marie was a complete mess with Tamura doing whatever he could to not get the axe. He's always been like that with Beelzebub also being a mix of genres but that was well done. I got few laughs out of Marie and I actually liked the female lead.

Very well said. That's it for me.
