HARENCHI GAKUEN (by Go Nagai, 1968)
The controversial manga which started echii and ******. Nagai a madman who killed all their characters, ten resurrected them back
OTOKO IPPIKI GAKI DAISHO (by Hiroshi Motomiya, 1968)
The manga that shaped Shonen Jump (made Kurumada turn into mangaka, influenced Tetsuo Hara or Akira Miyashita. Mankichi Togawa was the first Jump hero. Action manga about delinquent bands and Togawa's journey into becoming the most badass man in Japan. Ginji was first Jump bro.
DOKONJO GAERU (by Yasumi Yoshiwara, 1970)
First Jump long manga and anime, lasted almost all decade. Humor adventures of Hiroshi and the frog Raponchi which lives in his shirt. Very very funny manga (Gutsy Scans doing now subs for anime).
SAMURAI GIANTS (by Ko Inoue, 1971).
First Jump succesful spokon, goes about Banba, a very hot blooded guy who has too much physical power and wants to join Giants pro team.
KOYA NO SHONEN ISAMU (by Soji Yamakawa and Noboru Kawasaki, 1971).
Kawasaki did previously the very succesful Kyojin no Hoshi. This manga monopolized almost all Jump covers in its time. Western hardboiled adventures manga.
ASTRO KYUUDAN (by Hiro Tozaki and Norihiro Nakajima, 1972)
First Jump title with super powers. Very crazy baseball manga. Unlike previous titles, it didn't get anime adaptation, but got PS2 game and real live TV series. Think about it as fantasy powers + martial arts baseball version of Inazuma Eleven.
PLAY BALL (by Akio Chiba, 1973)
Akio Chiba was little brother of Ashita no Joe author. Got anime in 2002, last year its sequel Play Ball 2 started in Ultra Jump. Takao Taniguchi quest to play baseball despite having one finger broken, and to make his baseball team go to Koshien. This manga in fact is spinoff of Captain (1972) written by Chiba in Monthly Jump. First Jump manga to win Kodakusha Awards (the ones won by Neverland last year). Interesting fact: when a captain from Captain graduated from middle-school, he was added to Play Ball cast which happened in high school.
CIRCUIT NO OKAMI (by Satoshi Ikezawa, 1975)
Made Grand Prix very popular in Japan. Precursor to Initial D. In this manga they raced with famous marks like Ferrari, and you found strange cars (there was a nazi car there). MC wants to go pro and compete in grand prix, he's also a pervert. Got a live-action movie, but it suffers currently in Shueisha marketing stuff for lacking anime series. It got a sequel with another MC with same personality, Gainax did an OVA in lates 80s (Modena).
DOBERMAN DEKA (by Buronson and Shinji Hihramatsu, 1975)
Buronson debut. Think in City Hunter, 10 years earlier and by Buronson. MC is a Tokyo Metropolitan Police, who is very badass and hardboiled, and fights against crime with his gun. Like Circuit no Okami, got live-action movie but suffers currently in Shueisha marketing stuff for lacking anime series.
RING NI KAKERO (by Masami Kurumada, 1977)
The manga that definitively shaped Shonen Jump. Picked Otoko Ippiki and Shonen Isamu action, and Astro Kyuudan super powers craziness, in boxing. Takane and Kenzaki was first Shonen Jump big rivalry. Also, first manga which went to ''conquer World'' (World Junior Tournament). Ring ni Kakero influenced Kinnikuman, Captain Tsubasa, Hokuto no Ken, and Dragon Ball. First Jump title to get final chapter in full color (an honor only Dragon Ball, Naruto, Slam Dunk and Kochikame also achieved).
