Please. Tamago is an officer in a Yonkou's crew
Tamago is just a fighter.

And regardless of the role, it does not explain why a giant chicken should be considered more dangerous than almost all pirates at the time of their entry into the Shichibukai or the Luffy considered the co-curator of the biggest escape in the history of Impel Down.

But if you want you can do the same reasoning with Pedro, a Mr. Nobody who has a higher bounty of Doflamingo or Pekoms a subordinate who has a higher bounty than Luffy accused of the destruction of a governmental island that in 800 years nobody had ever attacked .

Luffy's heritage was hidden to the World until the Marineford War. His Shishibukai defeats were kept under the rug, Smoker defeated Crocodile and no one defeated Moriah. Smoker was promoted for his victory and Moriah died a tragic death in the Marineford War. That's their story.
But the Navy knows exactly what happened and what ties Luffy has.

The fact that Crocodile's defeat was attributed to Smoker did not stop Luffy's bounty from 30 million to 100 million ....

And let's say that Luffy also has two people in the crew able to awaken Pluton .....

400 mil in less than a year compared to Tamago's 429 mil after probably decades of pirating.
And indeed, now Rufy has a higher bounty than Jack and Katakuri despite not being in the New World for decades.

All the Shishibukai where it was revealed so far got invited either incredibly early into their pirate (captain) careers or immediately after making an huge impact on the world (Buggy and Teach), with two exceptions that didn't get invited at all (Kuma and Doflamnigo)
This is a bit of the classic explanation that fans give, but it does not explain why at times one who sends the curriculum to Big Mom must be considered more dangerous than one invited to Shichibukai .....

We all remember FIsher Tiger who, despite being called a legend, and for having assaulted Marijoa and committed one of the most striking crimes of all time has 30 million more than the current bounty of Usop?

Kuma known as the tyrant and famous for murders and exterminations has a lower bounty not only of Luffy post EL, but also of Kidd?

Or of Caesar that for having exterminated an island has only 300 million (and still remains higher than most of the Shichibukai?)

Simply the question of Bounty has escaped from Oda's hand.

But it was obvious since Jack's bounty appeared.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---
when did he share what Crocodile's bounty would have been? If this was way before the timeskip, then that kinda means nothing now
But indeed, especially in light of the latest revelations.

Now, for par condicio when it will reappear at all, Crocodile must have at least 500 million.

Overall I think now the bounties work like this:

Around 5-10 million are pirates of low level of one of the circling seas, with more than 10 you are a big piece, from 40-50 onwards you are pirates worthy of Paradise,

If a pirate has more than 100 -200 million is a big piece of the Grand Line or at least the subject of a subordinate of an emperor's subordinate.

If he have more than 300-400 is a pirate from the beginning of the New World, or the subject of a subordinate of an emperor.

If it is around 500 or more for an emperor, it is one who plays the pirate, or the subject of an emperor. If it has around or more than a billion it is the right arm of an emperor.

No, it's the readers that don't understand bounty.

It has nothing to do with strength, but incident.

If you are involved in incidents, your bounty goes up, simple as that.

Some people are involved in a lot of incidents over a short period of time, and some, over long periods of time. The Supernova are special because they gained bounties of 100m and more before reaching Sabaody in a relatively short period; not everyone is this active. in fact it's likely rare which is why those with high bounties tend (keyword here) to be relatively old.

All incidents are not of the same magnitude and subsequently, value.

Nope, the chess piece ranks are called combattants, but they clearly have authority over lower ranked subordinates, which does make them officers. The chess piece ranks are assigned to those in charge of others, but that are not Charlotte's themselves.

- Tamago (Knight) commanded a battalion of soldiers to protect the poneglyphs. In addition to that, he is incredibly well respected, making Mont d'or ( a minister known for his strategic mind) and Smoothie (a Sweet Commander) listen to him. He was also the only known non-Charlotte at the round table meeting.
- Bobbin (Bishop) leads squads to burn down island unable to pay their taxes
- Bege (Rook) was tasked with supervising the entire wedding security.

Ranking structure of the BMP seems to like this:

1. Captain Big Mom
(1.5 Perospero, as the heir of Tottoland? He did order around Smoothie and talked on even grounds with Katakuri. He clearly has a special position, but what exactly is unconfirmed)
2. Sweet Commanders
(2.5 Perospero if he is not above the SC's)
3. Charlotte Siblings (Ministers > Non-Ministers, Older siblings > younger siblings)
4. Chess Piece Combattants (Unknown if their is a ranking between the different pieces like in real chess, or if they stand for different assignments)
5. Probably tens of thousands of subordinates and Homies.

So yeah, Tamago clearly is in charge of others and higher ranked than tenthousand normal crew members. Not calling him an officer is nitpicking.

But the Navy knows exactly what happened and what ties Luffy has.

The fact that Crocodile's defeat was attributed to Smoker did not stop Luffy's bounty from 30 million to 100 million ....

They likely gave him less than they should, otherwise people would become suspicious.

If they gave a 500 mil plus bounty to a rookie that was completely unknown the year before, and with half the reasons hidden, it would likely cause panic among the paradise citizen.

This time they had no choice to adjust the bounty realistically because Morgans presented the "facts" before they could do.

I don't think bounties work like that as much as it works on the incidents caused. Luffy didn't get a bounty because he beat Arlong, he and Zoro got bounties because they beat up a Marine leader. It's quite possible a pirate worth 5 million is as strong as Luffy but far more low-key that it's impossible for anyone to blame him or catch him in the act. And on the other hand, a 500-million berries pirate could be pretty weak but only have such high bounty because he's been involved in tons of incidents and have caused tons of damage.
They likely gave him less than they should, otherwise people would become suspicious.
Fro thinks so too. Given how Luffy became the sole target of Akainu, and how people reacted when he unconsciously released his Conqueror's haki (wtf is the official name for this?), Luffy's bounty should have been at least a cool 700 million berries. They probably didn't want to reveal why or the danger that he possessed though, especially given how he could sway even enemies to his side. This is the same WG that wanted to hide Level 6 prisoners escaping to avoid losing face.

Moreover, the problem remains, why did Luffy have a bounty of "only" 500 million if he had performed acts according to many "unrepeatable"?

Tamago is a fighter (and not even the best since many ministers are probably stronger), and the problem always remains:

How come the government considers it more dangerous than Doflamingo or Luffy considered the person responsible for the first mass evasion of the most important prison in the world?

No.

The reason was that, but the Navy is the date in portpor to opponents defeated by him less Kuro ...

And for Zoro, the bounty is given to him by Alabasta.

Again with the selective reading, huh?

Many ministers? Which one's aside from Daifuku/Oven/Peros were shown to be stronger than Tamago?

I give you the answer: None.

The Government didn't consider him more powerful than Doflamingo, Mingo just got his bounty frozen before it became higher. This has already been explained countless time, but it was clear to me you would ignore it.

These are however explanations that we, the readers, give us.

What then this did not prevent him to give the little Robin, a bounty of just below Hancock ....
Hancock got her bounty after her first pirating trip and her Shishibukai invitation shortly after. Most likely because the WG doesn't want to be at war with a country of haki users, so they invited her early.

Again I already explained that. All of the Shishibukai that were invited got invited early after becoming famous.

Nope, wrong.

It's arrogant for the reader to assume they know more than the author.

It's much more of a case of the reader simply not comprehending how it works without trying to understand it. Bounty has worked the same way since the very beginning of the series.

And who said it?

Moreover, the problem remains, why did Luffy have a bounty of "only" 500 million if he had performed acts according to many "unrepeatable"?
The Manga implies it.

Bounty doesn't go up because of strength, it goes up because of incident.

Name one time a bounty has ever gone up outside of an incident. I can assure you, you will never find one instance.

Tamago is a fighter (and not even the best since many ministers are probably stronger), and the problem always remains:

How come the government considers it more dangerous than Doflamingo or Luffy considered the person responsible for the first mass evasion of the most important prison in the world?
Wrong, for one, the WG do not consider Tamago more dangerous than Joker.

Joker's bounty was frozen, maybe you're unaware of that. A bounty being frozen means it won't go up.

Tamago being a fighter is irrelevant.

The only reason he has a higher bounty is because:
  1. His Bounty isn't frozen.
  2. He's been involved in incidents, and as a result has garnered a higher bounty.
As I said before, a bounty only goes up after incidents. Bounty is just the sum-total of all the incidents one has been involved in. This is why Bounty is not a measure of strength and therefore why someone with a 100m bounty can be stronger than someone with a bounty of 600m.

It's pretty much common sense:
  1. Why didn't Luffy's bounty go up for 2 years? Because he'd not been involved in any incidents for 2 years.
  2. Why didn't Brook's bounty go up for 50 years? It's because he'd not been involved in any incidents for 2 years.
  3. Why didn't Zoro, Sanji, Nami and Usopp's bounty go up for 2 years? It's because they'd not been involved in any incidents for 2 years.

Why did Kid, Apoo, Urouge and Bege get bounty increases in the 2 years following the time-skip? It's because they'd been involved in incidents.

The denominator is incidents, that is what raises bounties.

As I said before, find one instance a bounty has gone up without an incident? Not one.

Or maybe it's a matter of reading the manga

That said, it is equally arrogant to defend the author by the sword.

Oda is a human being, making mistakes and he himself said in an interview that from his point of view a work does not have to be coherent to be beautiful.

It is evident that in his head the bounties were lower, but then he decided to apply the rule "Big Nuero given to X, impressed reader" after all One Piece is directed to the boys above all.

It is not to belittle the author.

The Manga implies it.

Bounty doesn't go up because of strength, it goes up because of incident.
You did not understand anything.

I know that the bounty does not re-inflate the strength, the manga is clear. I wanted to say "when would I say something like that?"

That said, the problem remains that the deeds of Luffy are considered unrepeatable, but despite this post Marineford is considered less dangerous than a Tamago ....
Wrong, for one, the WG do not consider Tamago more dangerous than Joker.
Tamago 429 milion

Dofamingo 340.

Nuff said.

Joker's bounty was frozen,
And Doflamingo knew of a secret that told him he could "shake the world".

Yet before entering the Shichibukai had a lower bounty as well as that of Pedro .....
As I said before, a bounty only goes up after incidents. Bounty is just the sum-total of all the incidents one has been involved in..
And Luffy:

- Defeated three Shichibukai

- Accused of the destruction of Enies Lobby

- Hit a Celestial Dragon

- Responsible for the biggest escape in the history of ID.

All events described in the manga as unrepeatable, legendary etc.

Yet most of these have yielded to Luffy a bounty of "only" 300 million.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---
Many ministers? Which one's aside from Daifuku/Oven/Peros were shown to be stronger than Tamago?
And they are not few ....

Together with the sweet commanders we can say that Tamago is at best the 10th strongest man of Big Mom (not counting Pekoms or Streusel).

The Government didn't consider him more powerful than Doflamingo,
I did not use the word "powerful", but the word "dangerous".

And Doflamingo pre Schichiukai, aware of the national treasure of Marijoa, was less dangerous to the Government than Pedro, Pekoms and Tamago.

Again I already explained that. All of the Shishibukai that were invited got invited early after becoming famous.
Or maybe because when Oda created them years ago he had not imagined in the future to raise the numbers so much ...

Just think of when I declare that Crocodile would have had only double the bounty frozen considering crimes committed as Mr 0 (including the attempted awakening of a weapon capable of destroying the world).

Had he done today, I was sure they would all have five hundred million onwards.

Nope, that's when it's done blindly that is arrogant.

Different story when one is doing so with evidence.

Tamago 429 milion

Dofamingo 340.

Wrong, you really made no point here.

You're ignorant of the fact Joker's Bounty is frozen. Even if it weren't, it's irrelevant

It doesn't mean Joker is less dangerous, it simply means the incidents he committed before being frozen totalled 340m.

Tamago's Bounty doesn't make him as dangerous as Joker, it just means Tamago was involved in enough incidents to warrant a 429m bounty.

If you understand Bounty only goes up after an incident, then you should know that just because someone has been involved in more incidents than another doesn't necessarily make them the bigger threat.

Not all incidents are of equal magnitude.

Quantity is not quality, maybe you don't know of that conceptl

Tamago could have been involved in 100s of incidents to get a bounty of 400m while Joker could have been involved in only 10 incidents to gain a bounty of 300m.

Robin is easily the most dangerous individual in the story and she only had a bounty of 80m.

All a bounty indicates is the magnitude of the incidents one has been involved in.

Robin simply being able to read the Poneglyph makes her more dangerous than anyone.

It's why Robin is going to be haunted by all the Big Players of the world. She's the most valuable asset anyone can have.

If Oda wanted to use Bounty to register the level of threat someone was, then Robin would easily have the highest bounty in the series without being involved in any incident.

So, your point really is moot. Bounty value doesn't really indicate how much of a threat someone it, it just indicates how notorious an individual has been and the sum-total of all the incidents they've been involved in.

True, but they didn't mention the enemies' strength, just their bounties. Luffy was becoming a major threat by beating the enemies with high enough bounties for East Blue, and he's a pirate who became wanted because a Marine wanted revenge. Aokiji even says the amount of bounty doesn't just reflect strength, but the level of threat they possess to the Government. They could be significantly weak but still have a high bounty because the World Government sees them as a threat, or be extremely strong but have a low bounty because they aren't trying to hurt the World Government or are discrete in what they do.

No one say that-

Even though lately Oda from over a billion to very powerful characters just to impress the reader.

Some statements leave the time they find, let's remember Jinbe who stated that over 300-400 million is difficult to go up again ...... statement that today makes you laugh enough XD

To be fussy and wanting to speak realistically, what good are the bounty if now the figure of the bounty hunter is practically gone?

And even if it were a bounty hunter the 100 million are enough that now even people like Coriobou have the good life, why should he risk his life by capturing Jack or Katakuri?

Going up over 300 million is more difficult. We are at the top end of pirates in the story, the majority of Pirates is way below the characters we are dealing with in terms of bounty.

I assume the majority of pirates at 300 Mil and above either get captured before they can commit more incidents, since they are presumed to be a great threat, or join a Yonkou, thus becoming subordinates rather than captains, which leads to lower increases per incident involved.

Jimbei isn't necessarily wrong.

Tamago has been with the Big Mom Pirates for how long? At least 5 years which is when Pedro plucked his eye out, yet he only has a Bounty of what, 429m. He was already a pretty important rank 5 years ago, he could well have been a Pirate for a decade or maybe longer. 429m Bounty in let's say 10 years, that's roughly a 42.9m Bounty increase a year.

There are millions of Pirates in the OP world, many that we don't know. Could easily be a case where the average experienced and hard boiled Pirate has a Bounty not going up much further beyond the 300m mark.

We're only really being introduced to a small percentage of Pirates and not everyone is a Super Rookie who are vigorously getting involved in incidents left, right and centre.

Most Pirates possibly at the 300m mark become much more weary of getting captured and probably try to stay out of the spot-light. Though, we may not have seen many Bounty hunters in the series, Pirates may very well fear them and this amy also act as a deterrent in keeping Pirates at bay.

As Nami said despite the fact we've really not actively seen anyone come for the SHs, a low bounty means less attention.

And even if it were a bounty hunter the 100 million are enough that now even people like Coriobou have the good life, why should he risk his life by capturing Jack or Katakuri?
Because bounty is not a measure of strength, but the total magnitude of incidents they've been involved in. Not everyone with a Bounty that's high is necessarily a Katakuri or Jack in strength.

There are Pirates like Boa Hancock who only had 80m; she has King's Haki, Observation Haki, Armament Haki and she has an OP devil fruit ability. Then you have Nico Robin at the age of 8 with a similar bounty. Just because they both have same value doesn't mean the challenge in capturing either is is the same. It'd be much wiser to go after Nico Robin than Boa Hancock as she's clearly leaps and bounds stronger than Nico Robin even now that she's in her 30s.

Luffy pre-skip had a bounty of 300m; Zoro post-skip had a bounty of 120m; it'd be much easier to go after Luffy as a bounty hunter when he had a bounty of 300m than to go for Zoro pre-Dressrosa when he only had a bounty of 120m. The difference in strength between Zoro post-skip and Luffy pre-skip are distances apart.

One cannot look at Bounty and decide who is stronger simply because of the value, each Bounty one goes for no matter the value carries just as much risk because one can never be sure just how strong their opponent will be regardless of Bounty value.

More so, there's this thing called greed that motivates people to continuously go after riches due to lack of satisfaction.

He does not explain why Pekoms has a higher bounty than Luffy accused of destroying an island that no one had attacked in 800 years.

Or just to give another example, Caesar is the builder of the weapons used by Jack, and he has virtually destroyed an island, yet he has an initial bounty of "only" 300 million.

O Sabo who despite being the right arm of the most reclaimed man on the planet has "only" 600 million.

As far as I'm concerned Jack could have a bounty of 600 million and Cracker one of 500 and nothing would have changed.

It is these bounty billionaires who are too exaggerated and in bad taste.

Especially one should ask what the hell they are, since the hunters of tales have practically disappeared (and also logically because they should risk their lives by capturing Jack?).
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---
For the rest you can also think that the bounties of the first Shichibukai do not make sense (being very old, can be compared to the struggles without Haki), as can be considered stupid the meter used recently by Oda, but it is clear that from Dressrosa to this part the revealed bounties follow a precise pattern.

Before the line was different, one could always say that an enemy was defeated by a rookie because its exorbitant bounty meant above all violence with civilians, dangerousness or whatever.

Now he has decided to get messed up by putting in the mouths of expert people (like Perospero and Jinbe or others who have come and who will come) quite unequivocal words.

The sacrifice of someone like Pedro (300 million?) Really proved useless with someone like Perospero (700) who scoffed at him for the value of his bounty telling him that he could not do anything about it.

Different would be the speech for Sabo that is closer to its size and more uses the flames (weak point of Perospero) .. or for characters that have bounty frozen for years. In any case, the Oda line seems to me to be this by now.

Actually I would say that it is clear that anyone with a billion-dollar bounty is a monster of power ....

There are Pirates like Boa Hancock who only had 80m;
It was other times, Oda still did not have the mania to give all stratospheric bounty.

If today appeared Hanccok would have had more than 500 million ...

How many people have gotten increase in bounty? The Straw Hats are going to get their bounties increased because of how notorious they are, especially Luffy, and how dangerous they are. I mean, despite what Luffy did during the Paramount War, his bounty didn't go past 400 million.

Bounty hunters still exist. Again, we saw one in Dressrosa who claimed he captured a lot of Level 6 prisoners before Luffy beat him. And because lots of berries, and a fun challenge, especially for those who think they're strong.

Just saying, times weren't too different back than. Oda had already introduced Moriah's, Kuma's, and Doflamingo's Bounty before introducing Hancock. Despite the Shishibukai that were introduced after Crocodile and before Hancock all having bounties around 300M, he still introduced Hancock with an 80M Bounty and proved at the very same time that she is at least just as powerful as the others.

Apparently no one tried. Someone like Pekoms could defeat the entire CP9 without breaking a sweat.

So Oda does not have to fill his characters with words like "first in the story" "he never did it" "unrepeatable gesture" and then belittle later.

Which then I strongly doubt that Pekoms can beat the entire CP9 by itself, but let's leave ....

How many people have gotten increase in bounty? The Straw Hats are going to get their bounties increased because of how notorious they are, especially Luffy, and how dangerous they are. I mean, despite what Luffy did during the Paramount War, his bounty didn't go past 400 million.
But this is the problem.

How can the Luffy who did everything we saw in the manga have a Tamago lower than Tamago?

Ok we did not see what Tamago did, but he certainly did not:

Destroyed government bases

Guided evasions from prisons of masisma security

Punched Dragons Celestial

Taken part in wars between Whitebeard and the Navy

Defeated Shichibukai

Etc ....

The answer is that evident at the time Oda did not think to exhaust so much with the bounty.

A billion I was waiting for Kaido, certainly not for a random Jack.

Bounty hunters still exist
The only major bounty hunter we have seen is Jean Ango, beaten by a head hit by Chinjao.

Ah no wait, there are also the fearsome Abdullah and Jeet beaten by Bellamy. :P

It's because Luffy is rubber, so it is only natural that his Tamagos hang lower. He has two of them though, I suppose.

And the Baroque Works.
And Zoro and his East Blue buddies Johnny and Yosaku.

You clearly don't understand how bounties work.

Every incident has a value.

Luffy only had about 4 major incidents under his belt in a year..:
  1. East Blue Incident, 30m.
  2. Alabasta Incident, 100m.
  3. Enies Lobby Incident, 300m.
  4. Thriller Bark, Sabaody and Impel Down were not announced to the world, they kept these secret.
  5. Marineford.
About 4 major incidents that gave him a 400m bounty in a year.

It only requires Tamago who has been a Pirate for more than 5 years to partake in a lot more incidents than Luffy to gain a higher bounty. You don't have to destroy WG bases and such to gain bounties. Just destroying a country can warrant a bounty. Any criminal act will warrant a bounty. Destroying Marine ships can warrant a bounty. There are many things that can be done to gain a bounty. One doesn't have to do the exact same things as Luffy to get a bounty.
