To much reliance on established authors and not enough new talent is the problem with Magazine. They're like the Disney of manga publishers where instead of bringing in new talent they just steal from other publishers and let the authors have full control hence why the line-up is riffled with so much shit amidst a few good titles in between. You would think with the huge success of Shingeki no Kyojin that Kodansha would have followed this mindset that new talent can rank in more bucks than old ones but nope that's why Jump is always ahead.I'd dare to say Weekly Shonen Magazine has a vastly more impressive line-up of authors and series than WSJ right now. So many WSJ series has ended over the last years, and not as many new ones have managed to fill the void.
You're suppose to highlight the pros for WSM not cons.Meanwhile, WSM got Mashima (FT), Nakaba(7DS), Terajima (DaiyaNoAce), Yoshitoki (Fumetsu/A Silent Voice), Ohkubo (Fire Force/Soul Eater), Morikawa (Ippo), Ohtaka (Magi/Orient). + the rest of the series.
This is the most interesting thing that's happened to Magazine since Oh Great was announced to be doing the manga adaptation of Bakemonogatari. Jagaaaaaan and Grashros were both entertaining schlock but its a bummer its not Kaneshiro doing the art for this since those two chucklefucks work so well together. And now the Jagaaaaaan/Grashros writer and the Dolly Kill Kill artist are teaming up for a new series there.
I agree, this current line-up is not good but I'd rather read something from an author I know will improve then to read something from an author who is so creatively deprived he'll just reused character designs and locales from his previous works and try to pass it off as a brand new work.I'm glad, Weekly Shonen Jump is giving so many "fresh" mangaka a shot in the magazine, and a lot of good seems to be coming out of it. But it sure does take a lot of time to find the perfect series and authors for the magazine. Very few actually succeed. Despite of that, I'm really happy that series like Jujutsu Kaisen, and I guess even Act-Age, have the chance of making it there. That's what I'm here for.
