I'd dare to say Weekly Shonen Magazine has a vastly more impressive line-up of authors and series than WSJ right now. So many WSJ series has ended over the last years, and not as many new ones have managed to fill the void.
To much reliance on established authors and not enough new talent is the problem with Magazine. They're like the Disney of manga publishers where instead of bringing in new talent they just steal from other publishers and let the authors have full control hence why the line-up is riffled with so much shit amidst a few good titles in between. You would think with the huge success of Shingeki no Kyojin that Kodansha would have followed this mindset that new talent can rank in more bucks than old ones but nope that's why Jump is always ahead.

Meanwhile, WSM got Mashima (FT), Nakaba(7DS), Terajima (DaiyaNoAce), Yoshitoki (Fumetsu/A Silent Voice), Ohkubo (Fire Force/Soul Eater), Morikawa (Ippo), Ohtaka (Magi/Orient). + the rest of the series.
You're suppose to highlight the pros for WSM not cons.

And now the Jagaaaaaan/Grashros writer and the Dolly Kill Kill artist are teaming up for a new series there.
This is the most interesting thing that's happened to Magazine since Oh Great was announced to be doing the manga adaptation of Bakemonogatari. Jagaaaaaan and Grashros were both entertaining schlock but its a bummer its not Kaneshiro doing the art for this since those two chucklefucks work so well together.

I'm glad, Weekly Shonen Jump is giving so many "fresh" mangaka a shot in the magazine, and a lot of good seems to be coming out of it. But it sure does take a lot of time to find the perfect series and authors for the magazine. Very few actually succeed. Despite of that, I'm really happy that series like Jujutsu Kaisen, and I guess even Act-Age, have the chance of making it there. That's what I'm here for.
I agree, this current line-up is not good but I'd rather read something from an author I know will improve then to read something from an author who is so creatively deprived he'll just reused character designs and locales from his previous works and try to pass it off as a brand new work.

I estimate Both would be around 5M - 6M both half year was 2.5M(HQ showed decrease from 2017 while MHA showed increase from 2017) I would be wrong because I don't want to to check number of volume sold this year
Thanks.

We're forgetting that Jump technically tried the same thing last year with Eyeshield, Beezlebub, Kuroko authors coming back

We are talking about mangaka from other companies being recruited.
Plus Tamura and Fujimaki were guaranteed to come back at some point around when they did.

Well , they tried it last year sucessfully with gotobun and other author. The problem is that most of them where rom-com manga(the exception is tokyo revenger if I remember, which I like).

Grashros have problems but the art help the series , but yeah Jagaaan is fun and We did it are pretty good.
I'm curious what will he do with a spokon

Not a lot of mangaka from Kodansha and Shogakukan go to Shueisha surprisingly. I mean I was surprised we got Bouichi of all people but he was a Shueisha regular before Sun Rock Ken ended doing a bunch of one-shots and his short series Wallman was even in Grand Jump.

Yeah they probably just went back to the drawing board after so many failed. They're going to do what they did with Nakaba and promote the shit out of everything from these artists until something sticks though most of them don't really need a lot of promotion and can just survive with their existing fanbases.

Oh god Grahros is a fucking mess but I'm never bored by it. I'll honestly say that its got canned since the pacing has been on overdrive since the timeskip. Jagaaan and We did it are also solid.

It won't be easy, a few things to consider though

1. When will OP vol. 91 release?
i) If it is on November then almost no, since OP will sell around ~9M+ by then including backlogs an all
ii) If it on December or later, high chance it would no be counted for 2018, and only 3 volumes will be counted so around 7M+ sales

2. SD legs. 5M copies is almost a lock for the refurbished edition (avg, 250k) but will the early volume have more (that damn beautiful basketball playing) legs to push them to 6M copies? ( I cant really see 6M but it could be close)

So, it is seemingly impossible

tldr: If we only have 3 OP volumes counted + SD shows incredible legs, we might see the decade long streak broken.

Edit: My math is flawed, forgot about half year sales for OP, upped the number for OP by 1 Million

Trying to get my math right here question me if anything seemed questionable.

Assuming only 3 OP volumes will be counted
2018 first half, OP (88[2,283,589] + backlogs)= 3,110,049
Vol. 89[1967545] + Backlogs ~= 2M+ (2.2)

current estimates 5.4 M

Vol. 90 + Backlogs estimates = 2.1M

I estimate the final value to be above 7.5M ,but declining physical sales might drop it to just slightly above 7M, + less volume sold = less chance of backlog sales.

Writing this all out seemed like we might have one of the lowest OP sales ever so I'm really not confident on my math but we will see

____
SD will need an average of over 350k to stand a chance to overthrow OP, Vol. 1 seems like it will reach 300k soon and further release of the editions will drive up the sales of all the volumes. It is certainly seem unlikely but it doesn't seem impossible when you try to calculate them.

I saw some predictions that said MHA: movie 3B / 4B in box office.

This should not give a big Boost? 9/10 million (?) (Exceeding the best years of KNB and Haikyuu)

More characters in Nisekoi Live-action:

not feeling ruri , and need a full look at tsugumi first, Maiko is fine...

I'm a fan of Natsumi so I cannot give Onodera an objective assessment but from what I have see, she looks better from a distance because of the hair

Also with the apparent stock issues the series has been having Shuiesha would have to get their shit in gear. They weren't nearly as prepared for the demand for Heroaca in comparison to One Piece.

Where did you read those predictions? That puts it in DB: BoG range, something I highly suspect can be doable for a first film in an anime franchise. In fact, that'd be unprecedented for any big anime franchise. Even Conan, OP, Doraemon didn't do those numbers in their first films. 1-2 Billion yen is probably the utmost limit.

In regards to a boost, we really only have Strong world, and maybe AssClass, to go off of and those tend to be exceptions than anything else.

Predictions are just that, predictions. I can say that the MHA movie will boost the manga sales to 3 mil per volume but that doesn't really mean much.

Yeah that seems really high especially given how frontloaded its release schedule is.

Tom Cruise > Prime All Might lol. Can't blame them, good actor.
Then there's the Gintama sequel a week later, than the yearly Kamen Rider/Sentai movie...

Well prediction does need reasons, pre-ticket sale, anime movie trends, what film usually do at this time of years, competing films at the box office and so on....

A good prediction (especially from analyst ) would need to consider all of those...

that said ,personal predictions (i.e how I want the movie to perform) are still a thing people do.
