I’ve not read this Yuuna chapter but ageplay stuff feels like a big no for a shonen jump series, at least in a sexualised context. But it’s on the outs, so whatever gets attention i guess?
I haven't read it either but To Love Ru had a teacher that Rito did his usual tripping and she ends up naked stuff with (although not super frequent).
In We Never Learn the teacher has pretty much admitted to wanting to sleep with Yuiga and while it's not necessarily those two doing things with each other Kurisu's chapters are much more sexual than anyone else's.

We Never Learn definitely has its iffyness there, but is waaaaay tamer in presentation, at the least. Like I love it a lot, but would still call it “typical romcom in Jump” sorta levels with that stuff.
To Love-Ru though..... yeah, I mean absolutely. Like this is very much a spiritual successor to that series, for better or worse. And like tellingly TLR moved to SQ, which is a little (itty bitty bit) more mature. I wouldn’t be surprised if Miura surfaced there once Yuuna is done, actually.

That reminds me about the stuff I mentioned some days ago with what would happen if WNL and 5toubun have swapped magazines.

I mean, WSM has very little repercusion for some motive (Sunday has way more following), yet 5toubun has beat a Jump title in a direct sales confrontation. So, would 5toubun be still more known if it had been a Jump title? I know there are people who still don't know or haven't read 5toubun because is a WSM title.

Opposite way goes for WNL, is known because is a Jump title (and structured in typical Jump style, like Nisekoi or Ichigo 100%). But I feel WNL in Magazine wouldn't create the impact 5toubun has created.

I know is abstract stuff, I'm still being shocked about 5toubun possibly becoming the biggest hit in this decade regarding romcoms. Not even TWGOK had the impact 5toubun is having (and TWGOK had a very big impact). However, I'm reading all time WNL anime hasn't created any impact and manga sales haven't risen up.

But isn't it normal for WSM to get the occasional hit like FT and 7DS? Has Sunday had any true hit besides Conan lately?

Sunday's had a couple decently popular gag manga in the past couple years but I think that's about it besides the Conan spin-off.

I think at this point WS Champion is bigger than Sunday.

I think Magi was a hit for Sunday. Which makes me wonder why is Orient failing in WSM. I don't remember about TWGOK sales, but it was big at beginning of this decade.

And dunno, I think Fairy Tail and 7DS have been the only WSM hits in this decade. and both of them are adventure-action shonen. Closest WSM title to be a hit would be Ace of Diamond, and it isn't a hit. So, 5toubun as romcom (and I think it will be way shorter than WNL or other WSM titles; I think is already entering in its final stage) has broken molds. I mean, it has beaten even freaking Haikyuu in sales, and was so close to beating MHA too.

I'm finding WSM an interesting universe since unlike Jump or Sunday, it has no fans as magazine (I seriously don't understand why is the only magazine of the Big 3 with almost no following), but it has some interesting stuff like Blue Lock or the Oh Great! Bakemonogatari.

And to mantain the Jump element in my post since we are in the Jump thread, I think the only Jump romcom which entered in an Oricon top-10 chart was Nisekoi, and I think it entered in 9th or 10th place with worse sales than 5toubun is getting right now. I don't remember anything about To Love-Ru or Ichigo 100% sales but I recall I''s was big in its time.

It feels like an obvious observation, but stuff like shows how well creators think about the magazine they’re being published in. Like I have no doubts that WNL and Quintessential Quintuplets would be *completely* different series if they had been pitched at each other’s magazines, or they’d have bombed completely. It’s like alchemy, and I think with Quin’s success it just means that magic was there more than any other title.

Sunday is like a vanity label at this point, I swear. But recent hits would be like Sleepy Princess, Komi, Souboutei, Tonikaku Cawaii, and yeah Zero’s Tea Time.

I guess 5toubun being a slightly deconstruction of romcoms, and above all, the entire cast being very solid and enjoyable (specially Yotsuba) has helped a lot. All the quints are very enjoyable and the MC is also very enjoyable and is not an idiot in the ''rom'' moments.

Meanwhile WNL lately seems it only goes up in ranks when is a Sensei chapter. I'm guessing we are going to get a Rizu arc in the future though.

I'd say the Jump title that makes me feel closest to 5toubun story-wise could maybe be Act-age, despite not being a romcom.

MHA's "training" arc right now is probably the worst point of the series. Main cast got way too strong so what does Hori do? Use newly introduced villains as stepping stones for LoV. Again. The worst part is some of the new characters have some interesting motives and could potentially be good characters so it sucks to see they'll be gone and forgotten after being used to give the LoV stupid powerups.
Probably because the anime is animated with the budget of whatever Perriot has behind their couch.
This reads like something ChocoBar9 would say. Anyways, no you're incorrect. Budget has nothing to do with the manga boost or why the anime is currently a big success for TV Tokyo.

I think the real shocker is a romcom getting so high, not that it happens to be from Magazine. I mean, it's not like it's facing super-tough competition from Jump right now (Unless you count Kaguya).

MHA isn't in a training arc. Its a war between villians. The main cast hasn't gotten too strong so I'm not sure what you're talking about and the MLA obviously arent the Leagues stepping stone

Dunno, I would count the WSM element too. Only title to enter in top-10 in Oricon sales this decade besides 5toubun, Nanatsu and Fairy Tail was Ace of Diamond in 2014 (btw, I'm enjoying it more than Haikyuu, but is way more unknown than Haikyuu, in part for being a WSM title).

That speaks a lot for Jump. We've had in top-10 of this decade: One Piece, MHA, Haikyuu, Neverland, Assassination Classroom, Kuroko no Basket, Toriko, Nisekoi (that 10th place, don't remember if was full year or half-year), Shokugeki, and Naruto. And we can add Black Clover to the list if we are counting half-year ranks. I'm sure I'm forgetting one or two titles.

BTW I'm pretty confident in Kimetsu ending in top-10 of full year rank in November, I'd say over Kaguya. I hope 5toubun stays 5th for extreme pottery.

There is no rule on the forum about profile pics displaying content that could be an anime spoiler form something thats ages old. I dont understand why you are trying to police this user for something like that. In fact the only rule there is about 24 hours of a manga being released.
I thought we all agreed when we were talking about that old sports manga a short while back ("Touch"?), that there is no expiration date on spoilers?

? Its not a training arc lol. This isn't a test conceived from someone, the MLA arent here to train the League they want to kill them. The only training being done was 1 chapter in the middle

Isn't that what a training arc is though? I always thought the main focus of training arcs wasn't the training itself, but when the characters show off the results.

Regardless, it's still a pretty great arc, it's a nice change from the slow paced JT arc.

I guess it's arguable. MHA is funny because you can call almost every arc a training arc by some measure but the actual training almost always get skipped. Stain had more training in it than Joint Training, for example.
