So, apparently this is a preview of an upcoming Jump GIGA poster. I decided to post it here because it's a Jump series, and one that's fairly popular.

Looks like Power's chest pads will just continue to grow larger until they become some type of "bodily insecurity" devil.

At least we got Astra Lost in Space on Jump+ for a big space adventure series, and its anime's coming soon too.

One thing that always disappoints me with space series (in manga and elsewhere) is that so few put effort or creativity into the adventure part, you've got this unlimited expanse with infinite possibilities of worlds to explore yet they spent most of their time sitting in their spaceship or fighting other spaceships in an empty boring vacuum. And if they do explore a world, it tends either just be "Earth but robots and spaceships" or it's a nature world that's also just normal Earth biomes and animals except the animals are blue or have three eyes or something.

Astra was great about showing all these cool creative properly alien-feeling planets, and no doubt Toriko would've focused on seeing the different crazy planets if it went on but oh well. Hopefully Samurai 8 puts some effort into the other worlds once it gets to space.

Personally I don’t believe that Robot X Laserbeam was axed. It wasn’t the biggest seller, but it was still doing decent enough. I feel like it’s more likely that the creator just either lost interest, or just couldn’t work on it anymore for whatever reason, so he just ended it.

I might be remembering wrong but wasn't there a Jump documentary last year where they talked about the cancellation aspect and showed an editor calling "an unnamed veteran author" who's series was about to be cancelled and it was obviously Robo?

I don't doubt Samurai 8 will last at least a year before Jump actually evaluates it. I just feel like, by virtue of how "big" S8 is, editorial simply didn't care about the other series.

Guys can this guy stfu, he has no right to say this. Hes acting like hes the boss administrator of Shonenjump, nooo nigguuu. It's the internet, we do what we want and share it, it's not FROM YOU. Uh...there is literally footage of Fujimaki getting the cancellation order.

Also, the sales weren't bad technically, but they were stagnant. The series had not showed a single bit of growth since it begun, and the poor reception the manga had been getting wasn't really helping. It's pretty clear whatever sales that were there from the start were because of Fujimaki himself.

So Double Taisei seems to be doing decently. I'm truly surprised.

Also, hot-take. Golem Hearts was a far better version of Samurai 8.
Never really understood the flack that serialization got. Loved the relationship between the mc and his father, dug the relationship between the mc and his rival, MC's design felt fresh but still familiar enough to not feel gimmicky, and really loved the atmosphere and world.

And even though Edens Zero only similar to Samurai 8 through the space exploration angle (would be funny if Kishi baits us all and saves space for Part 2), EZ will be/is a far better space adventure manga as well.

Don't disagree on the Golem Hearts thing, but I don't think it's surprising it got axed. The decision to have the first five chapters be about the protagonists backstory, including developing characters who were then promptly written out, kinda killed whatever momentum the manga had. Still, I could tell Ohsuga was trying, and I hope Fantasies gets serialized and becomes a hit.

Can I ask why you keep citing this person? In what way are they qualified to definitively speak on matters concerning manga popularity in Japan?

What is their methodology? What criteria are they using? Because if it's sales figures or ToC placements, they're not really required.
