It obviously doesnt because Haikyu!! and MHA would be at the top every week, the original point was "why is everyone okay with MHA placing high but not Stone" and the reason being is that MHA was a hit right away so it only made sense for it to have a high placement whereas Stone hasnt done anything yet it contiunes to be top 3 every issue. Its not hard to see why people would have a problem with Stone but not MHA
It sounds like it’s those people problem for holding so much value into what sales the most.

People who make those comparisons base them on how much they like the series, not how much they sell.

By that logic, even if MHA started off as a hit, it’s Vol 1. first week sales and current peak is not even remotely close to One Piece and Naruto sales. So people who are upset of the comparison due to sales should also have beef with the MHA comparisons to being the next One Piece and Naruto

There's also probably the fact that the authors are well-known, so that's why it gets more discussion, kinda like Samurai8 but to a lesser extent.

Funnily enough, despite all the making fun of its sales I haven't seen a lot of actual criticism or controversy with Dr. Stone, unlike Sam8.

Anyway, I agree with what someone said above that there's no real reason to care about this. So what if Jump pushes it over JJK or Act-Age? It's not like they're gonna get axed or anything. They're newer too, so they're probably less recognizable for many potential magazine buyers.

We don’t really know Jump’s process of choosing color pages, or why certain series receives so many.
While we DO know typically a series receives a color page to celebrate a new arc, showcase a character poll, celebrate and anniversary, and promote a new volume, that’s not always the case. So series just have color pages for the sake of having one.

This is just a theory, but it’s possible that a series may given color pages simply because the creators want a color page.
Just like, I’m 90% that the reason why MHA doesn’t receive many covers and color pages anymore is because Horikoshi is just refraining from doing the for whatever reason.

Could be possible that’s Boichi just has the work effort to pump out color pages like crazy(the man was drawing 2 weekly series at one point).

Either way, I’m sure Shuiesha is aware that the series reached its sales peak. I doubt that their mission with these placement and color pages are to boost sales when sales have been the same for over a year.
This seems pretty likely to me, Horikoshi doesn't seem to do well with the weekly schedule, since he's been writing mainly 15 page chapters for the past year or so. That's probably the reason he doesn't do color pages, too much strain.

The major thing about the "the west loves Dr. Stone but clowns JJK and AA" argument is really simple: Dr. Stone has so far been available in its entirety here. There is as of yet no way to legally read all of JJK and AA, hence why they go ignored by many people because they literally have no way to read them legitimately.
I agree, but I think it also has to do with the irregular release schedule JJK and AA had from fan groups. There was an almost 3 month gap between the Viz's ch 3 for AA and Fallen Angel's release of 4-5 (early Feb to late May). JJK was releasing batches instead of by chapter for a while too. Meanwhile, Stone was picked up from the beginning (by both MS and JBox!) because of the hype of the 6 serialization round.

Honestly, I believe that if JJK was picked up by MS from the beginning with a normal release schedule, it would be more popular. Same with AA.

Exactly, it also helps that it was from Eyeshield 21 author and specially by Boichi that it's a very popular author here in the west. Dr. Stone was super hyped by the Manga Editors at the time, if i remember well here in Brazil the first chapter was released even before Mangastream and Jaimini.

Trust me, it got tons of criticism in the past. Not quite BC levels, but several prominent users questioned if it even had any redeeming qualities, and when people brought up redeeming qualities (like myself) we were told we were outright wrong or had poor taste, etc.

And expect this, at some form, to return with the anime, i think that Dr. Stone will suffer a bit here from all the "hype" that fans are creating towards it, i already can picture all the criticism about being boring, not having a plot, no action, Senkuu getting everything he wants too easy and no sense of danger and etc, with some of these being true to be honest.

I'm super curious to see how the anime will handle the "science classroom" moments in the series, there's a LOT of them and it can get boring in the anime if not handle well.

There's another possibility I don't believe people have considered. It's possible that Dr. Stone is ranked so highly because it boosts WSJ's magazine sales, rather than volume sales.

That might even explain Hinomaru Zumou's situation. Doesn't resonate with the ToC voters or volume buyers, but DOES resonate with the people who buy the magazine specifically.

As I like to describe things, manga popularity comes through a feedback loop. People begin talking about a series and that loops around to more people getting into it and so on and so forth. Stone's discrepancy comes in that Western manga personalities like Fornever don't pay attention to many of the series in Jump because of the perception of comparing everything to the Big 3, so something like Stone which seems specifically "unique" gets hype. (looking at you, Super Eyepatch Wolf)

I agree with you, but if I recall Black Clover had already a fanbase (and anime didn't help at all. T-thanks Pierrot). The most similar case would be Kimetsu which also had already a little fanbase in /a/. Jujutsu Kaisen meanwhile has nothing, which surprises me despite having bigger numbers at volume 7 than Black Clover or Kimetsu.
Idk if I sugar-coating now but JJK fanbase is still pretty good, still seeing people talk about it and alot of fan-art. I think it's just being a bit unlucky now with no offical licencors

Jujutsu and Act-Age's fandom's have been growing pretty rapidly over on ani-twitter, so it seems like things are changing at any rate.

Well hes more distrusted, but the danger will even happen in the first arc if you know what I'm talking about. It gives you a fresh switch from your typical shonen, and that's what people want nowadays right

The beginning will for sure grab the attention of the "casual" anime fans but i'm talking more about when the series become "and today kids, we will build this thing with the power of science", in the manga it flows better since it's like 19 pages per week, but in a full episode it can get boring, but let's see how they handle it.

But that's literally the main hook of the series. It's Bill Nye the Science Guy The Manga.

That's like complaining about the cooking in Food Wars. >_>

I'm not talking about me, i'm talking about the casual anime fans, and the way that they are selling Dr. Stone for the mainstream audience with trailers and etc it's not as a "science kids show" but as something epic about the humans turning into stones and Senkuu trying to bring humans back, and having a cool villain and etc, and the beginning it's something like this, but in the middle becomes the "science kids show".

Shokugeki no Souma was always since the beginning about cooking and foodgasms, so it's different.

They're not marketing Senku as a scientist, or him saving humanity specifically through the use of science? Because in the billboard ads I've seen, he's holding up a vial with chemicals and the like, which implies science.

That doesn't sound right, but I haven't watched the trailers in forever so I'm fuzzy on the details. But, even when the series switches gears (I'm assuming you're referring to Senku building the science kingdom) there's still action that takes place. There's still plenty of tension, as well as tons of character introductions, etc.

Yes, it's known that it's a series with science theme, that Senkuu it's a scientist and etc, but all the promo stuff gives the idea of being something more "epic", picking Shokugeki no Souma for example, despite being a series about cooking, the cooking is presented as something badass and epic, the shokugekis even more, but in Dr. Stone the process of inventions and all the science stuff are presented more like a "educational" and fun thing than badass or epic.

What i'm saying it's that after the Tsukasa tension goes away and Senkuu finds the village, the atmosphere will shift to something much more "Slice of Life" about inventions and stuff with little to zero sense of danger and etc, which can make people start to get bored with it, but let's wait and see.

Alright guys, we're going to be enacting a new policy from now on purely for convenience.

Whenever the newest ToC leaks, assuming it's the real version, I'm going to sticky it. That way, users no longer have to go pages back just to locate it. It'll always be plainly in view for everyone to see on every page.~ Buranchi
Thank you for this, it'll certainly be easier to keep up with the news!

What is Twitter?

Anyway, how is OP's popularity compared to the rest of the series? And the top five most popular?

It's not the kind of series I'd imagine they'd go for, though I guess Blue Flag's a fairly popular for them as a relationship drama?

also N T R! N T R!
Is it really one when The main character is the one cheating?

That said, it bothered me a bit but I thought it was a first good chapter. It's not my favorite type of romance but I don't mind those type of negative takes on it to tell a story about people being imperfect and reaching such point.

anitwitter? shouldn't this be like manga twitter? XD

And the question with Dr. Stone isn't that it sells bad. It's more that it's one of the series with more promotions in the magazine but it sells less on it's volumes than WNL for like 6 or 7 volumes at that point, was surpassed by Act-Age and Jujutsu Kaisen and Yunna sometimes surpass it. Those other manga don't have nearly the same kind of promotion and two of them are one year newer. So it's a case of other manga doing better with less editorial marketing.

Dont think you can use anitwitter as a metric for popularity. It's formless mass of ill defined borders based on who you follow and say is an anitwitter or not.
