1. Samurai 8
2. Yui Kamio
3. Tokyo Shinobi Squad
4. The Last Saiyuki
5. Beast Children
6. Double Taisei

Kamio got more interesting in the last couple of chapters, than compared to the beginning. If it keeps that direction, I will hope for it to survive. But again, I would have totally preferred his oneshot about the exorcists before that.

TSS the art is good, but so far not really interested in the story.

4-5-6. I stopped reading them, still checking quickly what's happening on Saiyuki, but it doesn't look like it got any better.

A lot of people like to put the blame for Bleach's later issues on the feet of Kubo's editors, even though the much simpler answer is a case of over-ambition and focusing too much on the stuff which didn't matter (giving virtually every character a proper fight) verses what actually did (the plot).
Giving every character his moment in the final arc doesn't matter? There were a lot of characters which didn't get their final fight and who should've gotten one. He could've executed those fights better because Kubo was going from fight to another almost too methodically with the same structure in every fight. The plot is so unimportant in Bleach. The plot was always there to have something that holds those fight together. It was never a plot-driven series.

I mean, the "no final fight" thing was because of Kubo's sudden ending of the series for health reasons.

I also disagree with the argument that Kubo didn't care about his story, because one look at the ideas displayed in the manga, the novels and interviews shows he cared a great deal about the story and characters he was creating (even if his character creation skills got increasingly worse as the series went on), but his desire to draw more impressive fights kept interfering with his ambitions.

1. last saiyuki - i have no problem with it, cuz im mostly used to these kind of pacing. also one of the most original story telling since its based on chinese mythology

2. TSS- pretty basic... it has the most potential out of its other 2 classmates of the batch, thats why i put it high. also the TOC shows it an little that it will stay.

3. Beast children - just let it survive, i see the writter puts alot of passion on this sport manga. just give it a chance for once shonenjump

4. double taisei - to be honest, its tasty. if you would bing this manga without waiting every week, its pretty solid

5. Samurai 8 - its building up, its an story that needs alot of time and that what kishimoto already warned for. its not bad. like @Rain Spectre keeps complaining about. but i also agree on several points with you, so thats why samurai 8 is low on my list

6. yui kamio - LMAO

Been replaying Dragon Quest 5 and 8 simultaneously recently, earlier this year did a playthrough of DQMJoker2 and last year replayed DQM2 Coby.
Has had me really daydreaming a lot about how great it would be to have a new Dragon Quest manga in the magazine.
Plus now is a perfect time for a Monsters manga. A new DQM game is being officially announced on the 3rd so how cool would it be to get a new Dragon Quest Monsters manga! Jump's never really had that monster battling type of series take off other than Yu-Gi-Oh and now with how open the magazine is about to be is the perfect time for a highly pushed half promotional half original series.
Give it to someone like Shibata whose art is suited to the material and whose writing could probably boost from working within an existing IP for creative help.
I wanted a pokemon knockoff manga for the longest time, never got it

here's to hoping Koei Tecmo teases about Monster Rancher are a new game and a manga

dragon quest by Mashima... :derp

that design.....Eric is supposed to be based on Ali Baba and the 40 thieves (Arabian Nights) mythology

leave it to Mashima to turn him into a Night's Watch reject

I never said that Kubo doesn't care about the story and i personally also like it. I just don't believe its the main selling point of Bleach. The characters and just the 'style' of Bleach are its main selling point but thats my personal opinion. Its not like i did a street survey on it.

On another note, there is something that has been on my mind for a while and its just a half-baked idea, so don't take what im saying as if it is a finished manuscript but could it be that Bleach is more influential for Mangaka than Naruto? Of course Bleach had less sales but sales don't equal influence. From what i've seen Bleach gets mentioned more on these ' Jump Mangaka introduction' -section as a favourite series. JJK, Chainsawman and KnY clearly are influenced by Bleach also. I also feel that Bleach helped a lot to establish archetypes that are popular in Fujoshi series nowadays. Just to name a few things i noticed. What does everyone else think? Am i just trippin?

1. Samurai 8 - It's fine to read.
2. Beast Children - The only thing that I will get kinda similar for a new American Football manga and I see the passion that the author is giving to the series.
3. TSS - It's fine to read but I'm not interested in the characters.
4. Saiyuki - Nice art but the heavy exposition kill the manga.
5. Yui Kamio - It´s a clusterfuck of ideas and genres with no direction, atleast the horror elements are fine.
6. Taisei - I actually find the set up of the first chapter interesting but sadly it just became a series with no direction and got boring really quickly.

I think it's that Bleach's more mature tone and older target audience has a lot more specific pull for creators in an environment where kids aren't really reading. Naruto is influential, but it's very general, it effected pretty much all battle manga on some surface level.

1. Beast Children.
It’s probably doomed, but I love it. Made with such sincere passion for rugby, and had the balls to declare an end to its prologue after two months.
2. Samurai 8.
It’s really good euro-comics inspired stuff, with only a couple things to raise an eyebrow at. Having a good time.
3. The Last Saiyuki
It blew its potential on exposition early on, but even with that there’s not been a week I haven’t enjoyed it.
4. Yui Kamio Lets Loose
Loved it for the shojo pastiche early on, having fun with its hard turn into weird suspense horror. Not necessarily GOOD, mind.
5. Double Taisei
Dropped it early on, and from brief flicks past it I don’t regret it. Directionless and unintentionally funny in all the wrong places
6. Tokyo Samurai Squad
Dropped at the first hurdle, couldn’t enjoy it at all (partially for the awkward opening nationalism, partially because it’s just Not For Me). Good eyelashes in a recent chapter I peeked at though.

by the way Togashi was speaking about it in his Kishimoto interview it sounded like it was his answer to Samurai 8

Wouldn't be surprised if editorial took one look at it and rejected it as an ongoing because of how childish it looks, Togashi's reputation be damned.

I wonder if it's actually Togashi's reputation that prevented this from getting serialized. If you pick up a series as an ongoing you want it to meet weekly or bi-weekly deadlines. Why would you expect that from the guy that not only already has a currently running manga, but also takes roughly a year and a half to get 10 chapters of that done?

Even if he only had responsibility as a writer for this one, I could see editors be a bit wary to pick that up.

from my understanding he's not writing or drawing it

just providing concept and direction for an assistant

Akuten Wars is based on a namu he drew a long time ago

Don't even start with that.
but it's true, Akuten Wars was published in a seinen magazine (Grand Jump)

1. Why are you comparing manga which are more than a decade old to the current environment as if nothing has changed in the interm?

2. Why are you using Spring Weapon No 1 when that series did horrendously and more or less validates my point?

3. Isn't Tamotoy's artstyle meant to be deliberately dissonant with the content of the manga, making its inclusion meaningless?

Not to mention the manga is actually a seinen kkkkk.
I mean...Grand Jump is aimed at geezers. It runs stuff which is very much out of any youthful interest range, so that just makes it seem like Jump had nowhere better to put it.
