Starting to really get the vibe that S8 is not intended to be a long series. Don’t think it’ll be short. But I just get this vibe that it’s not planned to be insanely long. Maybe like AssClass length
That's kind of a clever way to push the manga's sales.
It's possible that a lot of people that don't follow SJ every week would go "oh, the new manga by the Naruto guy that I've heard about. And there's two volumes, guess I'll get both" instead of getting only one and maybe realizing they don't like it.
If I'm remembering right, Beast Children and TSS etc are just getting a single volume release in September, so maybe they're hoping a double release of Samurai 8 will move more copies than usual?
I think it's also in part that someone realized that the first volume alone for Samurai 8 would be a terrible introduction to the series (seeing as it's mostly just exposition and training), and that releasing it alongside a volume where things actually happen would be a safer decision.
Kyoukai no Rinne (Rumiko Takahashi) from Sunday had 2 volumes released too, it was her new manga after InuYasha, so it seems something not so strange when you're talking about veterans coming back, they probably just want to cash in the "hype" of a big artist coming back. It worked for Toriko and Rinne at the time, sales were good.
Toriko got lead color pages for chapter 1, 2, 6 and 12 with a cover too and it ranked amazing since the first chapter never leaving the top 5, so i think they knew very well that the manga was popular with the "current audience".
Toriko also sits REAL HIGH in that generational vote thing Mankichi posted a while back. There’s a lot of false narrative about that title in particular as something that was pushed and whatnot.

Looking at it this way it kinds of make sense, considering the number of pages and looking at other series in WSJ for the first volume, the number of chapters in the first volume is usually of 7 chapters. Releasing both volumes at the same time would move more copies as people would probably buy both at the same time to check the series out and it would also allow people to get a better idea as to how interesting the series is considering that volume 2 should end around chapter 16 and things are only getting more interesting for the series now.
I guess the marketing department was afraid the series wouldn't move many copies for volume 2 if they only released volume 1 first then volume 2 later.

I have to say the world building in Toriko and how everything was introduced was awesome. I kind of miss the series that were in the top 10 of that poll. Looking at the poll closely most series for the Mango Generation are over except for HxH which most likely would have ended a while ago if not for the hiatuses and OP which is gonna keep on going for a long time.

I think it might have been decided from the start and that's why the start is paced like it is, and not the other way around. After all, there seems to be plenty of precedent for it with high profile veterans.
If I recall some convo this morning, Neverland is 6 chapters left to end current volume.
I don't see Neverland ending in this volume however, but in next one. That would mean like 15 chapters left. I totally see it being the remaning length for the manga completion.
Guys there was an 1 month cap with the groups cover & previous batch (double taisei), so we may expect the next batch next month if they keep the same schedule. Or the "same month" (the chainsawman batch), than we gonna expect it this month, just my speculations.
why I did the ( " ") is the chainsawman batch was actually released dec 2018. But on the internet its told they are released on January 2019
MangaPlus will reset IDs this Sunday, so we will have insight in whether something is going to end if there are less than 4 reserved IDs for the newbies
Example: Hinomaru Zumou's final chapter (which was a 3rd ID) led to One Piece's chapter from a week before
Yup! It’s a good comic with a bad rap from people who believe in an almost conspiratorial level of Jump pretending it was more popular than it was, so it feels all the more necessary to dispel that with love and facts.
