Whilst that doesn’t look good I can’t emphasise enough that pre-orders don’t mean much. Most readers wait till release, as there’s no incentive to actually preorder Jump titles

I mean, statistically? Yes.

But the fact that there's such a huge comparative gap is pretty indicative IMO. Unless Yui Kamio is somehow a best-seller, it's highly, HIGHLY doubtful any of the three will have even remotely decent numbers.

If they don't have a reason to pre-order, all the more so with newbies so it is even less indicative. Unless they know it will fly out of the shelves because it became extremely popular right off the bat. I don't need to say how rare this is, if ever happened.

I think it is a good indicative that there is some potential in the Princess sales here, which would be another Jump+ victory I guess. Agreed about your point though.

bunkyodo died and bring along book-rank with it, now people are looking at amazon. not saying I don't do it myself, heck I just finish making an automated rank tracker, I just see them as... eh

:3c

I do want to point out the fact that unlike shoseki, amazon have 0 impact on oricon, so should be used only as relative indicator,

I'd assume even more so for new series from unknown authors. Like, why would anyone ever preorder that?

I think it lack Samurai 8 positions.

It would be released at the same time these others, right?

People have read the stories in the magazine. So, they still buy the volumes of WSJ if they really like the story.

That's why there are Volume 1 with pretty good sales.

Samurai 8 is October.
I understand. Thank you for the clarification.

It's looking more and more likely that Kamio Yui will be the next series that's not exactly popular but survives since new series all flop worse.

Mitama was fun, I like a good silly gag series. On the Yozakura side I thought it was okay but I really hope it doesn't go the 'fight against random one-off villains with no actual progress for 2 volumes' route like a bunch of recent insta-flops.

Gunjou no Magmel has ended the Part 1 after 92 chapters on Jump+. Seems it's going on a hiatus, no return/next chapter date notice, or even the next volume release.

Chapter 92 has 93 pages (!!!)

Isn’t this the one where they’ve switched to digital-only volumes? I’m surprised it’s still kicking at all if so

I really like the background in the painting like style on the Yozakura Color Page done by the mangaka's brother. Makes me wish they did the manga together, would have been nice to see a brothers mangaka duo in Jump.
Reminded me of this bit from Sensei Hakusho.

I'm actually MORE worried about Yui Kamio than about the newbies. For a first volume, many people won't pre-order because they don't know the series yet. But a second volume should already have a bit of a fanbase, which Yui Kamio apparently hasn't.

(I mean, the newbies could still do bad, but not because there aren't many pre-orders.)

Didnt know! Just added, thanks! And yeah, it will have two parts, one that seems to showcase Iron-Man and a second one with Spiderman.

Hey, this is pretty awesome. I know he's the obvious choice given his current serialization, but it's a shame Horikoshi-sensei isn't doing one of these. Would love to see a Spiderman one-shot, recent developments involving the IP aside. I'm sure he hands his hands full with MHA and the upcoming movie though, so it's understandable. Hope he gets a chance in the future.

Mentioning that, it is interesting a Spiderman oneshot will be out despite Spiderman: Fake Red being regularly serialized at Kodansha/Magazine Pocket right now.
