I never thought about, it is not hard to laugh at some panels on Jump mangas, almost all of them you laugh a bit. When they come with board game manga like that I always remember of Hikaru no Go and I always think they are trying to repeat its success. Hikaru no Go was also very funny sometimes, but in the end board games is about mind games and tension, something that Double Taisei doesn't have that much.

I really like the background in the painting like style on the Yozakura Color Page done by the mangaka's brother. Makes me wish they did the manga together, would have been nice to see a brothers mangaka duo in Jump.

that's pretty common, a lot of artist have their family helping them in their work

Hey, this is pretty awesome. I know he's the obvious choice given his current serialization, but it's a shame Horikoshi-sensei isn't doing one of these. Would love to see a Spiderman one-shot, recent developments involving the IP aside. I'm sure he hands his hands full with MHA and the upcoming movie though, so it's understandable. Hope he gets a chance in the future.

Murata too is a Spiderman freak, not having him work on one of these a missed opportunity

they just take the WSJ translations from Viz (excluding series Viz wasn't doing) which has been the case for all the one-shots so I guess Viz didn't care about a primarily Kodansha mangaka's one-shot.

Got around to reading the first chapter of Mitama Security: Spirit Busters. Can't say I'm a fan. I'm really digging Mission: Yozakura Family though! It's ridiculous, but there's a sense of warmth to it.

Also think it’s weird when ppl see a series in the bottom 5 come in 3rd to last instead of 2nd to last or last place, and think “great! That means it’ll probably last longer”.

I don’t think the order of the bottoms 3/4/5 really matters. Bottom is bottom. Logically there has to be an order. But in the past we’ve seen series that regularly rank 3rd to last get the axe before the last place series.
And we’ve seen 3+ bottom series get axed back to back. I feel like the exact order of the bottom is always relevant.

I think it might be relevant when something is always above at least two of the others. But when the lowest series are constantly jumping up and down, it probably means they're all in the same boat.

Started reading the issue today, Mitama was pretty bland to me, didn't make me laugh in any moment and the characters didn't really caught me. I haven't read Yozakura yet, but the first chapter was great, like @RingoRoadOnceMore said, there is a warmth to that that I really appreciate. I think it is the same kind of warmth that Spy x Family has, maybe because both have a bunch of weirdos who happen to be family. XD

So, I've been re-reading Double Taisei and I've been thinking...is there some kind of specific to creating a new hit series in the board game sub-genre? Because I'm left wondering what Hikaru no Go had which all these failed re-creations lack.

Vinland Saga didn't release any new volume after the anime aired,so wait for it to release and then judge.


And not to mention Kingdom even without any decent adaptation is selling this much,so imagine how much it would have sold if it had got a good adaptation.

Kingdom had a good adaptation recently, it was the live action movie

about vinland saga

true, we might still see a VoV boost when 23 drop,

but since the Anime started not a single backlog appeared on shoseki daily once and the recent volume does not show any signs of having received any boost either

Gunjou no Magmel has ended the Part 1 after 92 chapters on Jump+. Seems it's going on a hiatus, no return/next chapter date notice, or even the next volume release.

Chapter 92 has 93 pages (!!!)

That or a second part is simply never gonna going to come out, who knows
I'm still waiting for the second part of Zetman... the series first part ended with 20 volumes back in 2014 in YJ, no news since then
