Does anyone still remember Sesuji wo Pin, that 2015 dancing manga? Is it worth it? Might pick it up after I finish to read all released Jujutsu Kaisen.
And talking about it, I'm trying to read it. It's ok, nothing particularly impressive for the first two volumes, but I enjoy the protagonist gimmick very much.
Guys, don't EVER use racist terms here again.

I have zero tolerance for that behavior.
What happened? :(

A user here used a racist term (typically used to disparage Asian people) and I deleted his post. You guys don't need to know any more than that.

Just, from now on, if you see explicitly racist terminology being used, report it immediately, and DEFINITELY don't like the post. -_-

Jesus Christ, seriously, you have a series from a author that has like a 100% history of dark and supernatural series, he start a new series that has literally the first page with dark Yui being sealed with supernatural powers, a climax where she violently beat delinquents and stating that there are many of them trying to find her, and just because the manga had the first chapters mainly as a "romantic comedy" (still with battles and supernatural elements happening between) it means that there was no sign or evidence that Shiibashi was planning the "genre shift"? come on, one thing is to like it or not, but blindly trying to refuse something so obvious? of course it didn't happened so smooth, the manga was dying in the rankings lol

I see someone forgot to switch 4chan mode off. Pretty sure they won't do it again.

Let's go over these points, shall we?

1. Yes, Shiibashi has a history of supernatural battle manga, but what says he couldn't change genres? Plenty of mangaka have changed subject matter completely between manga.
2. The first page doesn't end in some ominous turn, however, it ends in a joke about Yui biting the monk sealing her. From the presentation, it looks like a romcom with a token supernatural twist, an idea in play since Kimagure in the 80s.
3. Yui beating up delinquents is heavily comedic in nature, she even has a gag where she humiliates one before throwing him away.
4. No, there are no battles and supernatural elements, not serious ones, anyway. It's purely gag and romcom hijinks until the sudden turn with the Student Council.

Overall, I think your memory with Yui has become quite selective. You seem to have created a fantasy version of the first dozen chapters in your head that comes off as more cohesive than it actually is, and I'm puzzled as to why you're arguing it's "so obvious", when the way you're talking about it shows you don't even remember what happened in it too well.

I'm of the opinion that Yui Kamio was always planned to switch genres, but due to the bad rankings it happened way faster than planned. My guess is it was probably meant to be the new series that's mostly comedy but has some serious arcs like Gintama and Takeshi and such.

Maybe? I haven't checked out the chapter itself yet, but I guess we'll see more going forward.

he really doesn't need to change his artstlye
just treat the females like the males
give them normal eyes and normal lips
that means no giant aliens eyes and no sex doll lips

wow, these WNL screenshots look awful

Random, but after Neverland ends, I sorta hope that Posuka starts getting request to provide character designs for anime and games.
crossing fingers for Poppy no Negai serialization

is this legit? it looks like a Chinese bootleg to me

The folks on ANN hate Jump series in general. Reading their reviews of Kimetsu is downright cringe inducing.
That ANN article that was linked in your quoted post is not an ANN ranking, it's a report on a Comic-Con International "Best and Worst Manga of 2016" panel. Maybe try to read the article first next time instead of pre-emptive hating on one website ;)
(Not that ANN can't be criticised, but it should be for stuff they actually did)

Yui Kamio needs to survive. I don't know you guys, but I'm enjoying it right now and I want to see the harem grow because the art and the girls are fantastic.
Nah, the generic harem needs to go out the magazine

Lol and this was pretty awk but funny from the recent chapters. RING flopping & Takeshi being half of that 5 years (still good but I think he wanted to have it run for 10 years lol)
"10 years"

🤡
--- Double Post Merged, ---

I literally see nothing in the new series this year that make it looks worse than sooo many other failures that were published in all these years, Shonen Jump is like any other manga magazine and the mangas published there are far from being "art" mangas, so i don't know where this idea that Shonen Jump is such a "worthy" place to be published comes from, Shonen Jump never had any "super high standard" when it comes to publish stuff, if the editors see potential in your work, you get published.

Also, can we stop pushing this "Everybody is disappointed with Samurai 8" narrative? right now is totally innacurate, since chapter 8 the manga is only getting better and getting more praise from readers, so is annoying this constant narrative being forced at people's throat like a universal truth.
I get what you mean but you know very well why being in it is worthy. That something alone will never vanish, dont forget where ya came from or think too lowly of jump
--- Double Post Merged, ---

So, which sucessful Jump manga you guys think had the most "axe fodder" vibe in its first chapters?
For the ones I have read, probably JoJo. I don't know how it survived its first part. I love the series, but that first year is terrible to me and completely uninteresting after Zeppeli is introduced.
Ziga, just wtf was the manga meant to be... just killing best girl in ch 1. Mc end up being a non inspiral edge lord
--- Double Post Merged, ---

One that people here will remember very well is Black Clover. The criticism over the series was so great that I don't know how it survived.

i asked myself that too but than u have this that showed the batch of all other manga in 2015, it make sense why it survived.

BC was just very lucky it was cramped with underperformed mangas that tried too hard being different while bc itself played the safe game. tabata played it out smart cuz he did the same mistake as his other batch mates with hungry joker
--- Double Post Merged, ---

Because the criticism was purely from people who had indoctrinated themselves into thinking shonen was some kind of genre. In other words, people who have no idea what they're talking about.
i have to say that you are false with that. if you follow shonen & jump for an very long time. you know extacly why it couldnt survive for having an manga like that in its current time.

im not in the mood to roast black clover or go in this obvious topic, but just for you. if you say something like that than why dont we have manga like otoki ippiki, Fist of the northstar or another manga that the character goes super saiyen per arc

Nobody was expecting such change because it just doesn't match well with Shiibashi style, he uses dark colors a lot and the atmosphere is always dark. The first part of the series was a terrible mistake and now it has become a very decent series to me although it may be a little late, we will see. It was clear since the beginning that if it was not Shiibashi intention to change to a more supernatural atmosphere (I think it was), it should be. It would be a waste to use the clash of personalities only for comedy purposes. I'm sure the series will have some comedy parts, Nuramago had a lot of them where you laugh a lot, but it was never the main part, the main part was battle between yokai. Therefore, get used to it.

Me too, it was shocking, principally because we are talking about Yui in black, Yui in white, dark, etc. I thought it was something about this and I was "what on earth happened?" lol

In what aspect? You need to be more specific although it will probably not happen no matter the aspect.

possible, one piece will only have 3 volumes release next year. If MHA has the sales of season 2, then it is possible. Given that OP nowdays sell 2 million per volume, give or take 6 mil ~ 6.5 mil

Compare different number of volumes and expect to convince people that MHA surpassed One Piece in sales is at least naive. It would be just cheating.
