To say Mina and Ochako are literal goddesses among us would be an understatement.

It's still the most meaningful metric, and you can't really argue (with a straight face) that it's underperforming if the volumes end up selling gangbusters.
Regarding the last sentence, not me, but I expect certain someone else will pull "selling much worse than Naruto" and it's a neverending cycle. Honestly, I would keep the ban until a year passes at minimum.

Oh, and there is the Double Arts mess, getting axed despite 50k Vol 1 for a then newbie mangaka. But that was looong ago.

Criticize Togashi about his infinite hiatus is almost taboo here, they say that he is sick although I've never seen anything concrete on this regard. I stopped reading HxH ages ago.
he have been speaking about his back issues ever since Yuyu hakusho
Jump editorial department said the 2 years hiatus after volume 32 was because he did a back surgery

these are his author comments when he came back from that

one of assistants made a manga about him and talk about Togashi's back issues

how much more evidence do yo need??

Oh damn, that...is a bit depressing. Especially the struggle to get up and go to hospital part.

I don't think anyone expects it to sell as much as Naruto. Oda's next series wouldn't sell as much as One Piece either. Togashi lucked out in that regard.

I mean, I don't mind my anime girls a little on the thick side. Nothing wrong with that.
It's an old MHA meme about the women in MHA being fatties. I didn't mean it seriously. But yeah, I agree with you. Hell, in real life, I like my women to be on the thicker side. Always have.

I don’t like how low Jujutsu Kaisen has been in the last couple TOCs. Hopefully, everything is okay with the series’ popularity.

It's selling perfectly fine. No need to worry.

Fan art Daisuke Ashihara did of some MHA characters. You can really see Osamu in his rendition of Iida.

If the sales end up bad, I'll remove the ban. At that point, there's undeniable proof that the series is underperforming.

I'd be legit shocked if it did sell poorly, though.
And if its good? I mean, you made a poll asking us whenever we think is S8 will sell more or less than SxF after a month or so and I think the votes were kinda close back then though more in favor of selling better. Do you save the poll results somewhere 'cause it'd be interesting to see what people expecting months ago before we had any real results to compare the two series sales with.

Jump oneshots wise from this year, I really hope Hakutei no Erica gets a serialization. It would be a breath of fresh air in Jump with great art to boot.
The boy has Bakugo's hair, the horse has Bakugo's glare and the girl has Uraraka's flair.

I like it, but he might need to work on his own style a bit so it doesn't become too similar.

I'm pretty sure that's what I did, twice, but here we are, arguing about it again.

I'm being extremely lenient currently, and humoring people by honestly answering, but this is something I recently asked people to stop doing twice so far. I like Jovan, that's why I answered him despite his comments going against what I asked earlier for people not to do.

And this is exactly why. We're all just speculating, and none of it truly matters until we see the volume sales.
Welll... this latest discussion started with you suggesting that S8 is only so low in the TOC because of some master plan.

If you really don't want people discussing its popularity, you probably shouldn't be posting your own conspiracy theories on the subject either.

Moving on, what do you guys expect for Mitama and Yozakura in terms of popularity/lasting potential?
Yozakura looks like it's doing well. I don't know if it'll last super long (it depends on where they'll be going with the story), but I don't expect it to be a flop either.

For Mitama, I'm just gonna repeat what I said before:

Speaking of which, on M+ Mitama's first chapter had 10000 views and the second 5000 (which is abysmal for a new series). Is it doing better anywhere else? Or are there no other indications we can use yet?

Dragonstone
chapters being published with mistakes happened more than once or twice
How exactly is that a problem with Nakano specifically? This happens at all times; Toriyama made countless mistakes, Oda made countless drawing mistakes, Kishimoto made countless mistakes (most famously in the Obito flashback chapter where Minato's head was already on the Hokage stone wall despite the chapter taking place before Minato even became Hokage - a gigantic error) and pretty much all other mangaka too. It also happens in other magazines.
how did early crappy leaks catch the error but dozens of pro editors didn't? make no sense
Because... it is really only one editor who looks over a chapter? Not all editors read every chapter before it is printed.

Which 2019 debut are you enjoying most? Is there anything in this serialization year you think deserves to stay?
Late to the party, but: even with only 3 chapters, I'm liking Yozakura the most. I'm really looking forward to the next chapters.
As for the previous batches, it's hard, but I think maybe Samurai8? Aside from Saiyuuki (RIP), none of the series caught full my attention and made me want for more. I read them just because they're avaliable for free. Sam8 is just the one I'm liking a LITTLE more than the other ones, but they're all are bland to me. I like Chainsawman whenever Power gets some screentime but that's that, I still don't feel invested to the series because to me it feels directionless.

I don't like Bakugo and he's a shitty character but he's hot af in this cover.

A less popular series could get more votes then a more popular series. Not that many people vote anyway and maybe a lot that do vote for series that aren't their favorite because another series had a chapter they liked more.
This is an interesting question. How do people vote?

Personally, I would vote for a series because

1) I like it waaay more than any other series in the magazine (no examples currently)
2) it had an exceptionally strong chapter (Dr. Stone)
3) I want it to survive (TSS)

In the current situation, I would probably never vote for One Piece (even if I liked it) simply because I know that it doesn't need my vote.

What about you guys?

It’s hard to say how S8 is doing until Sales figures come out.
It’s completely possible the it’s flopping, but it’s also weird that it wouldn’t have that Naruto fanbase supporting it.
And it’s also weird that the EiC wouldn’t just be placing it at the top anyway.
You’d think that even if it was flopping badly, the EiC Would just put it up too because it’s Kishimoto and force promote it.

I would vote for the most interesting chapters of the week and that's it, fair and square. I make a ranking every week remnant of when I voted for VIZ polls, not every week One Piece makes it into the top 3 and new series get very good ranking if I like it a lot (Yozakura is on the way to the third first place in a row).
