Nope. I stopped reading at Overhaul arc ( wait for anime ) but as I understood it was Kohei first big misstep. And it looks like he made similar thing in mva arc. Big fans might swallow it but broad audience is much less forgiving

If you ask me this is just different kind of push. Rain was right on this one. They do try to make Mha one more face of Jump. But isnt going to work. First of all because it is already is. For another see above. If they really want come close to OP they need someone that can break all the rules while at the same time being true to them
Hmm, I remember the OH arc being largely mixed when it was coming out, but reception to the arc seems to have really warmed up. Either that or all the people who disliked it dropped the series or put it on hiatus. Probably a bit of both. I do think that arc will be quite a bit better when it’s animated.

And I think the most recent arc about the villains was largely well-recieved by the fandom, even if there were a few roadbumps. (I’m curious as to how Bones is gonna handle some of the stuff that happens there.)

Joint Training, on the other hand...

But then again, who are you talking about?

Why do you talk as if the opinions of 4 nerds on the forums or reddit your tastes were like those of the Japanese?

Nah, BNHA already reached the peak in sales, if the best arcs + a movie wasn't able to do, isn't the worst arcs being animated that will make it reach 1 million...

I have to say, the whole "Crunchyroll Anime Awards" + part of the western fans being a bunch of sjw attacking Horikoshi in his own twitter because some character was drawing wearing a bikini or Endeavor was getting a development, really tested my patience with BNHA fanbase, and for a time i was getting into the "hate bandwagon" with the series but i stopped months ago, still the fanbase can get really annoying sometimes :P
It's a good thing Black Clover didn't get so big in the West. If they got like that with a completely mild beach scene, I don't want to think what their reactions would have been with that Noelle&Mimosa poster Tabata did for Jump Giga a couple years ago.

The Overhaul arc serialization was a mess, Horikoshi was sick I think, reading weekly was terrible, too many breaks, but the sales increased. Anyway, selling a million per volume as in the old days is almost impossible, at least for physical sales. When it happened with AssClass, it was a shock because at that time those numbers were already hard to achieve.

OH arc was where the chapters start to get shorter in terms of page length. It’s at a point where we’ve probably lost at least a volume of content from this, as the new HeroAca volume was supposed to come out this month (I think?) but was delayed to December. Also didn’t help that Hori himself was tired of how long and dark the arc got and kinda rushed through the ending.

Also, to people using Kingdom as an example, do remember that Kingdom and OP's digitals come out a month after the physicals. The latter is literally all the sales with no cut-in margin.

Did anyone post here the thing with Kishimoto and his first editor with suggestions for Naruto? lol

I notice that quite a few of those things are echoed in Samurai 8.

Nah, I feel like BnHA peak has passed already. I (me and myself only) think the arc covered in S4 was a pretty low point plotwise, but if the anime team can make its pacing better I'm all aboard.
There were some changes to the staff, which makes me kind of hopeful for a better adaptation compared to the previous seasons.

I'm kind of busy but every time I check the ToC somehow Neverland has a cover. Must have topped One Piece this year.

And speaking of topping things, from the numbers I've been seeing it seems that Kimetsu surpassed BnHA sales. Manga, BD, popularity...And it only took 1 season. Don't play with Ufotable (imagine if the studio adapts Jujutsu).

Is Yozakura Family already being ranked?
I mean, BD sales and backlog for sure, but we've only seen KNY's popularity for a short term now, we have to see how it does on the longer run.

Nah. Kimetsu only surpassed MHA this year because of its huge backlog sale. Volume by volume, it still has a long way to catch up to Hero and Neverland. It's still premature to think its popularity is at MHA level.

The majority of what? I don't think there are any series out there that are followed by the majority of people, or even the majority of manga readers.

And having the majority of WSJ readers isn't enough.
Majority of the people who read that genre.

too many breaks
The arc lasted for 41 chapters. Horikoshi took four breaks, one was before the battles began and one was after the final battle was over, so really, in between all the action, there were just two breaks. Dunno about you, but that's not what I would call too many breaks.

Let's say Jump gave every weekly serialization a week break every month like One Piece gets, and on the break issues they ran monthly series entirely.

Would you guys mind that setup?

Actually. That is a lot of breaks.
But it was stated that Horikoshi has/had health issues. So I'm not gonna hold the fact that he took breaks against him. If he wants to take more breaks, he should.

For me, they'd need to reach some sort of threshold (100, 200 chapters, etc.). And then the breaks would be scheduled to make sure that there's not too much overlap of multiple authors being on break.

I like that idea, but one week out of the month having an entire magazine of new monthly series for everyone to enjoy is honestly exciting to me. The mangaka get to rest a week, and on the off weeks we basically get a new magazine with new series.

Yeah. It's actually a decent idea. Now if only someone from WSJ happens to come across this forum and conversation and actually implements it.

The issue would be the page count. This could only work if the monthly series had weekly page counts for the magazine. Either that, or less monthly series on the break weeks.

I think that would be fine. I'd rather 1 week off a month than potentially having to end the series early or go on extended hiatus.

If they were going to do this why not just lapse Jump SQ into Jump, shift it to release Monday and give the weekly stuff a break the first Monday of the month? Wouldn't need to find a bunch of new monthly series then.

I personally wouldn't mind, to be honest. I like the idea of giving the authors more frequent breaks and also it could mean more exposure to other series. As for the page count, I think it would be best to have less monthly series. Since WSJ runs around 20 series with each of them having 20 page chapters in general and monthly mangas have around 30-40 pages, they could publish around 10 monthly series so they don't make the magazine too big.
