I hope you are just clueless about reading between the lines and implications. Tho, your replies is quite impolite and gave me a similar vibe to when a politician tries to ignore critisms.
You do realize that there were adverts for all of the Jump manga being sold that week in those pamphlets right?
And of course lets not forget the PUSH meme being the reason why nobody takes the TOC seriously anymore.
Sam8's campaign should be ridiculed but its not the only time Shuiesha had done an aggressive push campaign for a series this decade the only difference is that the campaign worked for a few series but failed for many others.
Both had author recommendations, Neverland had two AmeTalk appearances and Aniplex has been agressively shilling Kimetsu the latest volume came with limited edition anime bookmarks hence the abnormallly high sales this week and the releasing why they've been scrapling volumes for high marks online. Don't you dare say neither had an aggressive marketing campaign.
Wow, so you can't differentiate the difference between a pamphlet that inform customers of new releases and a specific advertisement for a specific title. About super push, I already talked about it above.
Exactly. You can't choose what's an aggressive push or not. Funny thing is the Sam8 never went beyond the tradition billboards and previews compared to Dr.Stone which had a fullfledge TV advert and was on AmeTalk BEFORE ITS FIRST VOLUME WAS RELEASED.

No its just that you seem to think there's a difference when they're isn't. How is a pamphlet, something that is also going be in a volume of a new shuiesha manga, more of a push than being on TV? You didn't explain anything about push.

That informants is optional, just like the shit you can get from movie theatre to know what they are showing. The leaflets for S8 is in its own league. It's mandatory tack-on other people's purchase, whether they like it or not.
And Shueisha is not the only one decide to make the anime, their is a board that include TV stations, studio and other investors as well. Push is just a side-effect of anime. And Ame-talk or cult following is meaningless. Fan of s8 is such minority in Japan we may as well call them cult-followers.

Even Kishimoto's name doesn't make Science Fiction into a mainstream manga genre all of a sudden. Or do you see SF manga everywhere (except Edens Zero)? No? Then it's got a niche audience, for the most part.
At this point can we point the finger at the aggressive marketing campaign as the culprit behind Samurai 8's lukewarm reception?
I think Kishimoto's comeback work could have sold much more just by itself. Who's on earth thinks the pamphlets is a good idea?
I think it's the other way around. The campaign might have created unreasonable expectations for some people, but without it much less people would have known about it and it would have sold even worse.

Leaflets comes in every new volume of a manga series. There's ones of posters and other advertisments. Its not a big deal and isn't the only time it has been done.

They're series that have an anime on a pipeline since its first volume its not something that they can decide on a whim either since its main purpose is to push sales of the material because that's what makes Shueisha happy.

Aposimz is a Sci-fi manga from an even much more niche author and still sell better than that (250k for 3 volumes iirc). And it's published in a shonen magazine as well (monthly tho but whatever). Astra lost in space is doing well (I don't have the number, but it doing great critically).
Genre is not the problem here.
I mean... it works. Wasn’t Sensei the most popular character in the most recent popularity poll? And by like, 5 country miles? She got more than half of all the fucking votes, and apparently this makes her the highest voted female character in a poll in Jump’s history.
For the absolute life of me, I don’t get what makes her this damn popular. Like, I knew she was popular, but she seems like the only girl that matters now.

If I'm not mistaken, the same Kishimoto already put his hands forward by saying that in the beginning the narration would have required scientific explanations that would not have been fully understood ..
One Piece actually has sold 600k copies more than Kimetsu.
In the next month, One Piece will sell around 900k copies more, and we could estimate a 200k backlog. So the difference is 1,7 millions.
Kimetsu will surely sell another 300k with volume 17 alone, so the difference will drop to 1,4 millions.
Considering another two weeks at this level, with a 45k per volume sold, with the 16 other volumes, Kimetsu should beat One Piece by the end of October.
Obviously thhe numbers are estimate and indicative, so take those with some degrees of error.
been avoiding S8 talks since it's getting repetitive
so I'll approach from a different angle
do we know what was the first print for each S8 volume?
if they printed 30k then i think this is ok
if they printed 50k then this is underperforming
if they printed 100k then this is a disaster
if they gave it a print as big as Hero/Neverland/Hq/KnY then heads will start flying and hopefully Nak will be among them

Ame-talk is literally among the most popular programs in Japan and has been responsible for the boosts of many manga. What are you even talking about?
The anime is made not solely to satisfy the need of Shueisha, but also other investors. TV stations want an interesting show to attract viewers and sell ads. They couldn't give two shit about manga sales. Anime studio could just be a contractor for hire, or a passionate fan of the series, this depends on pure lucks (Ufotable and bones definitely care and love the source material, compare to toei or pierrot). The chance of getting push is not even 100% certainty compare to the priduction cost (just look at Hinomaru or Yuuna).
About Ame talk, they are a popular show, but I believe them to have integrity and not some celebrities who does advertisement. I hope they recommend stuff they truly believe to be interesting and worth their viewers time. And Togashi is Togashi, he can recommend whatever he like and choose to not recommend what he dislike.
Those so-called push are nowhere near printing bazillion of useless pamphlets and force people to look at them when they may just want other products, like that kimetsu that just run our of print because tonnes of unsold s8 and s8 advertisement is higher in the priority.
