seeing how well KnY fanbook and Crocodile oneshots collection makes me think

should Gotoge takes a long break after KnY ends?

the momentum of the franchise is so big they can put out anything and put KnY name on it and it will still sell like hot cake

so why risk stopping the momentum? why risk having your fandom jumping to the next thing? why risk taking a break and then putting out another RxL/Hungry Marie/possibly Kamio and S8?

and in regards to taking time to plan and research for new series, they can do this side by side while working on KnY, we have a precedent of this, YOKO ended Dancing midgets in #11 then lunched Shoodan in #28

these are just my thoughts, if I was Gotoge, I would definitely not take a long break

If we’re doing OPs from through the year, then I’ll put Neverland above Dr. Stone and Yaiba below Dr. Stone. Rest of the list stays the same.

Artistic integrity, I believe.

It's possible you're not seeing it from Gotoge's point of view since it's not your work of art?
Your opinion might change when its your own piece of work that you put endless hours drawing every day for the past 4 years. Would you knowingly tarnish the image it has just for the sake of getting some extra money?
Not attacking your opinion. I'm just saying it's that exact question that you'll need to think about after having worked on your art for a while.

Oh, my rank was for only this Fall.

If I have to include all 2019:

Black Clover >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kimetsu no Yaiba > Boruto > Promised Neverland > Dr. Stone = Hinomaru >One Piece = My Hero Academia > WNL > Shokugeki

In individual terms my top-5 would be:

1. Black Clover Opening 6
2. Black Clover Opening 7
3. Kimetsu no Yaiba Opening
4. Black Clover Opening 9
5. Tie between Promised Neverland Opening and Black Clover Opening 8.

How long should the break be then? I mean Both Hungry Marie and RxL debuted only 3 years (I think) after the authors' previous work ended, that seemed like a reasonable break time. AssClass debuted 3 years after Neuro, the same amount of time as those two. Sure a large break between works may kill the momentum for a possible new work, but any author, even Gotoge, should also need to plan its story with enough time. Would 2 years be the ideal time?

Ideally? well, if I was Gotoge, and my health is ideal, my workload is ideal, i wrote a perfect final arc and finished planning my next work and my new pitch get pass jump editors first try, so I wouldn't take a break at all :XD finish kny in an issue and start new work in the next

but I realize this is very difficult, so I will compare it to some of the fastest returning artist in the magazine:
YOKO took 4 months after Dancing midget to make Shoodan
Fujimoto took 11 months after Fire Punch to make Chainsaw Man
Hatomune took 9 months after Naked Swan to make Mitama Security

the next ideal thing is taking 3/4 months off, which is the average time between volumes releases, so by the time the last volume is out the new series should be starting/started

the next next next ideal thing is to take less than a year off

Both Kimetsu and Neverland are in extremely fortunate, and quite rare situations now since they’ll be ending on a popularity boom and with anime content likely still to come years from now. AC and Bakuman both ended at a high for popularity, but their anime finished within a year or so of the manga. Kuroko is probably the most similar since it still had Last Game 2.5 years after the manga finished, but it’s not like there was something yearly to look forward to for fans.

Kimetsu and TPN’s anime are popular enough, animated late enough in the series’ lifespan, slow enough paced, and the studios’ outputs are small enough that we’ll likely still be getting anime from both years from now, particularly Kimetsu. At best a season 2 will come next Fall (unlikely), you’re probably looking at more than a year after for season 3, and there’s probably going to be enough content for a season 4/something else too. Even if it ends within the next 6 months at the earliest, we’ll probably still be seeing animated Kimetsu content until 2023.

It won’t quite be like Tamura or Shiibashi whose anime had ended long before their series did and they were both on the decline. Tamura took 2 years and Shiibashi only took one. Illegal Rare did well but was cancelled, and 5 years later he was largely forgotten for his next return. Fujimaki certainly still had a lot of momentum after Kuroko which is evident with RxL’s sales, it’s just the series itself was bad and it couldn’t keep anyone’s interest.

As far as how early they should return, I think it depends entirely on the state of their series when it ends. TPN and Kimetsu will both likely be ending at their peak with countless promotional material to come in the following years, so I do think they have a lot more time to play around with. With how much Beelzebub had declined when it finished, waiting 2 years was probably a death sentence in and of itself since HM was hardly good enough to gain an audience itself.

I do think it’s in the best interest of all mangaka to return asap though, there’s no reason not to take advantage of their status. Most aren’t Togashi’s or Matsui’s who can come back with even bigger successes, and every month they wait people will lose interest in them. We’ve seen too many of them flop and become one-hit wonders to think it’s worth taking a long break unless their health has really deteriorated. Though they can also kill their own fan base by writing something bad, so it’s a fine balance for sure.

Why are you so sure that they will continue to produce multiple seasons long after the manga ends? Season 2 is likely to happen, but I don't see any chance for more adaptations since there will no manga left to sell.
For all the talk about beating One Piece in yearly sales, Kimetsu remains a self-contained story with a really good adaptation, and has yet developed an expanded franchise the likes of My Hero Academia. I just don't see how they will keep the interest alive after it ends.

Does anyone else see season 4 being the last MHA season at Bones at least?

I can see Toho finding someone else to animated it. But it's officially Bone's longest running series and based on Horikoshi's comment about the second movie being the last, Bones may be done.

The president of Bones once stated that they are fully committed to adapting the entire series, however long that may take.
And according to the EiC, Bones approached Jump asking them if they could adapt MHA, not the other way around.
So as of now, we have no reason to believe they would just stop.

Horikoshi didn't say this will be the last BNHA movie, he said he implemented "something" he originally planned to use at the end of the manga into the movie and he doesn't know how he could top this "something" with a third movie.

Do you have a source for this? I know that in 2016 he said that he wanted the series to be something they could keep coming back to, but I didn't know he once said they'd do a full adaptation.
