So because I was bored, I decided to add up the total amounts of the series that sold this year. Using just the established manga, including World Trigger, Shokugeki, Jigokuraku and Spy x Family and excluding Hinomaru and Yuuna, I first tallied up total copies and found that it was about 51.8 Million copies.
So, from there, I multiplied the number by the amount of yen each volume is sold for, which is standardized at 440 Yen, though my calculations didn't account for cases like Soma Vol 36 which sold for more. Since I assume at least part of the revenue for sales goes to the retailer, I halved the number at 220 Yen, though the number could easily be different, so correct me if I was wrong. Anyway, doing that got me 11.5 Billion yen, which converted to US dollars is just over $1 Billion.
Bare in mind, this is just the physical sales of a bunch of ongoing series. It doesn't account for the final volume of Gintama, digital, or a good number of other things like the dozens of B-Grade Jump+ manga. With just the physical sales of 14 series, Jump was able to make over $1 Billion.
Damn.
