Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Yeesh, what the hell did Jump have against Takei? First they force him into ending Shaman King before he could actually write an ending, then just two years later they cancel him in 10 chapters? And people say the current treatment of veterans is harsh.
Perhaps it wasn’t well received

I honestly wonder how a new romance manga in Jump will be able to find success. WNL was able to do well in large part to being something of a replacement for Nisekoi, but it's largely shown itself as just a mid-card title while competing series Quints and Kaguya have utterly trounced it in terms of popularity. If Jump wants another romance hit, I think they'll have to something different this time.
I don't think you're going to see much difference in that it's going to be a romcom with harem (which btw, I hate to use that term for manga like that, because it's just a bunch of romantic interests and 99% of the time it isn't a harem but just one girl chosen, so same thing of love triangle but more interests)

Jump is less diverse than its competitors in this and other genres.

I'm confused. What is this about?
I think it's about Black clover not having any showing on Jump festa while less successful series do.

IIs elementary, Watson. JUMP just needs it to be a BL Action Manga and it will be successful.
No one wants to read a BL action manga in jump. No thank you

Less successful for now but they have more potential with growing manga sales and potential anime boosts.

Well, Jumbor was restarted in Ultra Jump three years later and ran for some years. I guess that is something.

Also, as to why Shaman King ended so abruptly, here is what Takei had to say on the matter according to Wikipedia:
Takei declared it was not a decrease in the series profitability that was the reason for its cancellation, but a "fatigue" he had been through because he was no more able to follow his fans' wishes. In the author's opinion, Shaman King was being "normalized" by the desire of his readers with the introduction of typical shōnen aspects and losing its originality.

That's what I thought. He gave it a proper ending in the end though. A decent one too.

I do.

Nothing pornographic, of course, but a series like No. 6 might do pretty well.
Maybe something with gangs Banana Fish and DMMd both have gangs and are pretty popular with fujos. I heard even Banana Fish have decent male audience (at least that that wiki say). Promare have
fake male gay kiss/CPR
and do pretty well at box office.

So because I was bored, I decided to add up the total amounts of the series that sold this year. Using just the established manga, including World Trigger, Shokugeki, Jigokuraku and Spy x Family and excluding Hinomaru and Yuuna, I first tallied up total copies and found that it was about 51.8 Million copies.

So, from there, I multiplied the number by the amount of yen each volume is sold for, which is standardized at 440 Yen, though my calculations didn't account for cases like Soma Vol 36 which sold for more. Since I assume at least part of the revenue for sales goes to the retailer, I halved the number at 220 Yen, though the number could easily be different, so correct me if I was wrong. Anyway, doing that got me 11.5 Billion yen, which converted to US dollars is just over $1 Billion.

Bare in mind, this is just the physical sales of a bunch of ongoing series. It doesn't account for the final volume of Gintama, digital, or a good number of other things like the dozens of B-Grade Jump+ manga. With just the physical sales of 14 series, Jump was able to make over $1 Billion.

Damn.

A advise don't take Sharkbait comments so seriously about these stuff, if it was for him the magazine would probably be Weekly Yaoi Jump, so you will read many of these kind of comments by him kkkkk

I don't know about the share of revenue but 11.5 billion JPY is actually 105 million USD.

For curiosity how big for WSJ is China market, I heard more and more revenue come from China to anime companies. Do WSJ in future can consider China censorship.
